Did you still have to call the number to activate the 4G? or was that taken care of when you activated online?

I just activated online but wasn't sure if I still had to call the 4G number.

I ended up following the directions in the box (imagine that...) and called the 877 number to activate the LTE.

The link I provided before may not be the best option in this case, it seems.

Confirming that online activation works and I kept my unlimited data plan. You need to type in the 4G Sim ICCID number that's on your receipt during one of the steps.

Steps? I have my iPhones that aren't activated. I went online to activate and entered my MEID and it said I was switching from 3G to 4G an would possibly need a new plan and also would need a sim. It said continue to SIM cards and I cancelled out.

The only reason I haven't called that number is that I only have 1 phone line and don't have access to another line right now. That's why I'm hoping the online activation was sufficient for activating the 4G.

Well I was def gonna try but I can't access my backed up phone #'s. I suppose I could always back up iPhone 4 to iTunes and then add contacts to iPhone 5...

classic. have to have a phone to activate a phone.

Can anyone confirm if the online activation activates the 4G as well? I want to know if it worked before I try to find someone else's phone to call from.

Just did it online, activated as new phone and entered the sim number from my reciept. Took a few minutes for it to activate but it works, just made a call.

Perhaps my situation is a little different.

I purchased an iPhone 5 via pre-order for one of my lines and when I received it today I left it in the wrapping just to gift it. I use this as my iPad 4G line. I went to vzw.com and finished the activation online and then called customer care to switch the line back to my iPad 4G. Long story short they are having issues trying to get the iPad's data working on the line. It only stays at 3G status but even then the data does not work. When I open Safari a pop up opens that says no mobile data remaining yada yada and to add more now or later. If I click now it brings up the cellular data pop up to add more but then displays a message that the SIM is already active on a subscription line and closes. Technical Support says that in their system the iPad 4G and SIM # are showing on the line with the matching SIM card in it but when I go to vzw.com to attempt to switch the device for the line to the iPad it seems to still be trying to activate the iPhone 5 that was ordered. Online it won't let me put in a device to activate, instead it makes me put in my last 4 SSN, then my billing password, and says click activate now to activate the iPhone 5 on the line. This is one confusing loop at this point...

Any ideas?

For those of you that activated online -- did it reset your upgrade date for the line that you ultimately activated on or did it only reset your upgrade date for the line that you originally ordered the phone on? Thanks.

Another confirmation. Go to vzw and activate or switch. Enter MEID from iPhone 5 then enter ICCID. Keep same unlimited and you are good!

Posting from my iPhone 5. It says 3G now but it did say LTE earlier. I dot believe cellular service has been established just yet. My iPhone 4 is still showing service as well and a phone call to my number resulted in no rings on either device and a generic voicemail.

I'm about to attempt this online as it sounds like this is working. Once you activate the iPhone 5 on the original unlimited line, does the old phone (in my case an iPhone 4s) get transferred to the dumb phone line, which is the line I bought the iPhone 5 on. Then can I just get rid of the 2GB data plan and deactive the iphone 4s, so I can sell it?

I bought mine for full price at a Verizon store also. My receipt doesn't have an ICCID number.

I completely screwed myself up. I activated the iPhone using my wife's dummy phone line (actually my mother-in-laws) phone. After the activation, I switched the dummy phone line back to the original phone using the web portal and removed the data plan. Next, my mother in law re-activated the phone by pressing *228 on her dummy phone. Her old phone is now active.

So far so good.

Next, I tried activating the iPhone on my separate account which has the UDP. I could no longer activate it since I need a new sim card. There was an option to order a sim card which I did. Now, when I click on Activate/Switch the Device option, I get this message:

"Your request cannot be completed
Our records indicate you recently purchased a SIM card for this MDN but have not activated it yet. You have the option to proceed with your online equipment order after you have activated your new SIM card or you may contact Customer Service at (800) 922-0204 for further assistance."

I now have to wait for the sim card to arrive. I was hoping I can try to re-activate the existing sim card after 24 hours but I guess that's no longer an option. Plus, I have not received any order confirmation or tracking number.

Damn......

hey can anyone help me.

I order the 5 on a ipad line with upgrade and I cant transfer over for 24 hours according to representatives.

Anyone have any help or suggestions?

The link posted earlier says I can't activate now

To follow up on my post above, I decided to go to a Verizon store and the lady said that I have to wait until tomorrow before the can activate tomorrow.

So I decided to go to an Apple store and they gave me a sim card. I asked them if they can activate it for me and the guy said you can just do it online. I didn't want to tell him that I have a pending sim card order which is preventing me from activating online since I was paranoid that he might take away the nano sim card that he gave me.

Can I just put the new sim card in without first switching the iPhone in my account? Will the iPhone activation through the phone allow me to enter the new phone number? I'm just concerned that once I activate it that it will use the original dummy phone.

I've never ordered SIM cards; I'm assuming they're not tied to any particular line?

Like the instructions in this thread, you first want to go online and Activate the iPhone 5 on your line with unlimited data, and select the line with Unlimited Data when it asks.

After you go through the process and turn on the phone, it'll probably display the dumbphone line number that you used when you bought it (I also purchased it from the Apple Store). But you just confirm it anyways, and it should activate on the line you specified online.

I went back to the Verizon store after realizing that I need a new SIM card to switch the phone back to my line.

The manager told me that if I wait 24 hours, the SIM card that came with the iphone 5 can be switched to a different line, so no need for a separate SIM card.

My plan is to wait until tomorrow to test this out and see if it's true.

I ended up going to the apple store who gave me a new sim

I got my iPhone 5 at Best Buy this morning. They didn't have any extra sim cards to swap the phone from the upgraded line to my line with unlimited data, so I went to the Verizon store for that part and the guy swapped the new iPhone 5 to my line with a new sim (I think the store only had a few extra sims come in for the iPhone so I was lucky to get it).

I was lucky to get one. My preorder was for a 16gb in black but they didn't have any, so I got a 32gb black. I was just glad to get one today.
