Anyone ordering a clear case or silicone case?

I’ve got the Apple Clear case, but I think it’s a bit to thick. I like the (feel of the) material though. I’ve tried the Spigen Liquid Crystal and Ultra Hybrid, but I did not liked them (soft TPU feel). I’ve also tried the ESR Glass Case, but that one did had more curved edges instead of the flat edges that all the 12 series cases now have.

So I’m looking for my next case to try. Any tips?

This looks nice. Please post pics of it on your phone when you can!

Here you go. Sorry they are so grainy. Had to take them with my old iPad.

I ordered a black silicone case from Cordking that I’m enjoying until I get my black leather case. $15, no apple logo, basically a WYSIWYG silicone case.

Just ordered one of these in Navy. How is the charging cutout? I love silicone cases but this new style case for the 12s dig into my pinky every time I rest it there So I had to find another alternative.

They’re precision cut outs. I’m a little over 6’1” with regular sized hands and I haven’t experienced any pinky dig (it’s very soft) but YMMV.

I am considering the otter boy symmetry as well. I was wondering how the sides are...
So when the case arrives could you maybe tell me how the sides of the case look like?
Are they as rounded as they were for the previous phones or are they just as straight as the sides of the new iPhone 12... I can’t really tell from the pictures...
The sides are fairly squared off and flat. Not round.

I returned the Apple clear case today, what a terrible case.

Placed an order today on Amazon, should be here tomorrow, reviews look promising.

The Apple one looks awful with the white circle on the back and the lack of protection at the bottom is unforgivable seeing as how expensive it is. I’d imagine they’ll see a lot of returns.

My feelings exactly. The Apple cases are overpriced to begin with. Then you have to contend with the hideous look of those magnets and also the open bottom.

Neither the open bottom nor the white circle on the rear bothered me. What really caused me problems was the super slick nature of the case. It felt lovely to hold, but it was so slippy I dropped the phone three or more times within the first 48 hours of using it. Now got a JETech case and it's much nicer. I'll post more on it later.

It just seems bizarre of Apple to design such a nice looking phone and then release such an ugly looking case IMO. I understand the white circle has functionality in the form of MagSafe but did it have to be bright white? They could have made it different colours to match phone colours. It just looks distracting from a design perspective and I don’t really understand the rationale in why they made it look so obvious?

The cut out at the bottom does leave the phone vulnerable if dropped and again I don’t see a reason why they left it open like that? The mind boggles.

I think it's because without that cutout you would really struggle to get the phone out of the case. Whereas the silicon cases sound like they are (to a degree flexible) the clear case is made from polycarbonate which is much stiffer and harder. This makes it much less flexible and so much harder to flex it enough to eject the phone. Mine's boxed up ready to return, part of me still wants to keep it, the concept was good, but £49 for a case I can't use right now isn't sensible.

Apple could have followed the path most other case manufacturers use with clear cases and use a stiff but more flexible plastic. I hadn’t realised Apple used polycarbonate, that’s another reason I would have avoided this case then. Polycarbonate doesn’t absorb impacts well when it’s very thin. It flexes under impact well as it’s used in shields etc but I’d be concerned if that energy was being transferred to the phone it’s supposed to be protecting.

I agree fully with this.

I have a clear ESR case on my 11 Pro Max right now which has a hard back and soft sides and completely encloses the iPhone. Apple could have done the same.

I went with the Apple Clear case and whilst I like being able to see the pacific blue finish and I am able to live with the white MagSafe circle on the back it was just way too slippery for my liking so returning it tomorrow.

I got the apple silicone case in Kumquat for my blue iphone 12 Pro, and I really like it. I don't find it very slippery, and it's soft to touch. No marks from the mag safe charger yet either. Will use this for times when I'll have my phone out more, planning on getting the Apple sleeve thingy when it comes out.
