It really is just personal preference. I'd never buy white even if it was cheaper because I like black.

Two girls I know have white and they're happy.

I took the white back after 12 days. The black is much more usable, even though I think the white is "cooler"

If there is any doubt, go black.

I can't say much since I got a black 16g. But I went to Best Buy to get all of my accessories. And they had both the white and black on display. I noticed the white bezel looked a little brownish. Like it couldn't be cleaned by just wiping it, but it was stained. Given there probably have been a thousand people touching it, but I thought to myself "is this what the white would look like after a year of use?". But I'm sure if you take care of it, it will look nice forever. But I think mostly it's just personal preference. Think about the clothes you wear or the color of your room. Overall though, it's an iPad! You can't go wrong!

I had the whit and then traded for a black. I'm trying to get a white back again. Reading and surfing is nicer with the white. Black is a bit better for video but I realized I read the news and surf mostly.

I thought I was the only one that experienced this. My primary use for the iPad is also surfing and reading, then games. I had the black iPad for a year, and I find the white much more easier on my eyes. Aesthetically, I think the white wins hands down as well.:p

i thought about black for maybe a second, but i knew i wanted a white one (partly to make up for no white iphone last year). no regrets whatsoever. remember...

if you ain't white, you ain't right*.

Yes, and I returned it for a black one

I have to admit I think the white one looks very nice. It looks fantastic. However, the whole issue of a black border around the screen and than white really bothered me. With the black iPad it just blends together better, I hated seeing the black border around the inside of my white ipad screen. So I returned it for a black one instead. At any rate, that's just a personal choice, and I have nothing against the white version and realize I'm particular with these sort of things. I'm just really happy with the black one now. But more power to the folks who have or want the white iPad 2.

ONCE YOU GO BLACK YOU NEVER GO BACK!

I love my white iPad. I'm glad Apple made it available, and I'm glad I queued and bought it. And I love my red Smart Cover too.

I checked out the white one in Apple and JL in Cribbs yesterday and will be getting one when they get stock in again. No rush as I will probably keep my old one aswell.

The red cover is favourite but did you consider any of the others?

I regretted it when I bought it, as it was the only model available/not oos.

But when I brought it home and used it...I kinda like it.

i regret it now, i bought two white pads one for the kids and the other for my home theater. the white is just too distracting in the theater, good thing i did not open it i will just put it on ebay.

I got white cuz that's all they had left by the time I got to the front of the line. I wanted Black but I can live with the white just fine. I still think the black looks better. Maybe I'll get the iPad 3 in black if I can get in line sooner next time. Otherwise, I got what I got and I'll like it a lot!

One thing not noted in the thread is that the interface seems to be designed for black. The top bar is black and it does provide a bit of contrast.

Like my mother in law says when choosing between two options: make a quick decision and feel the impact of the choice in your stomach. Does it feel right or wrong? If the decision feels wrong you will know!

I did that when waiting in line for the EU release this Friday. Been very satisfied with the result.

Posted on my white iPad.

I am also very happy with my white iPad. I don't see any issues with contrast and the white color feels very nice. I would definitely get it again in white. If the iPhone 4 was available in white I would also but it, but now I am waiting for a white iPhone 5.

I'm loving my white iPad 2. It's no different from using the old beige monitor and doesn't really distract me at all and, if anything, improves it with the websites and ebooks.

I have the iPad 1 so I can appreciate the difference and prefer the white for now due to the aesthetics but some might feel differently about watching movies so it's all about personal preference.

Speaking of black and white, I remember going ga-ga over the new black iPod Nano when it was first released so I think a lot of it has to do with the white being a new thing. :)

I have the white and no regret. I picked white for two practical reasons:
  • Does not show finger prints as much. In fact, I rarely notice it.
  • Most of my apps have white/bright background, such as mail, website browsing, and news apps. For these, white border blends in better.

As for video, I watch them mostly under the cover of darkness so white border is rarely even an issue.

I couldn't have said it better myself. :)

I've had my white ipad for over two weeks, and I still love it: it's a nice change from my iPad 1. The bezel doesn't distract me at all.

Same here. I love my White iPad 2. I don't find the white the least bit distracting at all, in fact most apps and backgrounds look enhanced with the white bezel.

I love my white ipad. The majority of my activity on it is web browsing, reading or viewing pictures. For that, I actually prefer the white. I also watched a movie on it and didn't find the border distracting at all. Finally, I love that the fingerprints are much less visible on the white.

My friend actually ordered a black and when she played with my white one, she cancelled the order and switched to white. :)
