I don't understand how this happening to people.

I have nearly 100 iOS devices I'm responsible for, including my own, my families, and work devices.

Not a single one has any of these issues. Not on iOS 7, iOS 8 betas, iOS 8 release, or iOS 8.1 betas.

Maybe its just because I'm on Macrumors and the 12 people out of 750 million with such issues congregate here. I have to imagine this is the case.

Yes, the old "well, it's not happening to me or anyone I know so it must not be a real issue" shtick. Spoken like a true IT person.

A small bug

IOS 8.2 I believe does have a small bug when using Bluetooth connections such as when using The one installed in your car and a Mobile headset The telephone locks up on my iPhone 6 this did not happen when using a 5s with IOS 7.1 but if you turn of the mobile one the telephone works correctly.

Had the same problem with my Air, strangely it doesn't affect my iPhone 5 on 8.0.2 so I'm thinking the software plays nice with older hardware.

I finally decided to send a bug report to Apple. After writing out a fairly descriptive analysis my wifi died when I pressed submit. Sod's law I guess.

I gave up and installed 8.1 Beta 2. Haven't had any real issues since, thankfully.

It is a problem, and it's not just being reported here, I've seen a few people on Facebook stating they're ready to embed their devices in drywall over this issue.

Have you seen if 8.1 fixes it for others?

I just upgraded from a 5 running 7.1.2 to a 5S running 8.0.2 and almost immediately I noticed a disappointing problem with WiFi performance. Honestly, I haven't paid attention to whether there are similar issues, when I'm connected over LTE. Anyway, it's very frustrating. Websites behaving strangely, slow loading of web pages, complete, repeated drops while streaming. None of these occurred on 7.1.2. Facebook and Yahoo! problems. I sent feedback about this to Apple just to add my voice. Enough users complain and they can't ignore it!

Enough users complain and they can't ignore it!

But that's the thing, I've read umpteen people have reported issues to Apple directly and most state that Apple continue to say "That's the first time anyone has reported that problem", the wifi issue alone has been logged by many, I reported it again yesterday and got the same comment from the Apple guy.

If they've been told to say that fair enough but who are the mugs here?.......... unfortunately us.

I'd be a lot happier is someone said "You know what guys, we have seen your comments and there is a problem which we are working on a fix"

That would put a lot of people's mind at rest and assure the users that maybe they are still using one of the best mobile phones produced.

I had the same issue. Tried the normal procedures - power cycle modem/router, reset network settings on my iPhone, use the "Forget This Network" command, etc. Nothing worked. Someone on these forums suggested changing the password security on your router from WEP to WPA2... that worked for me and I haven't had any issues since.

That's the one thing I've not tried........

Have changed to WPA2 and will see how it gets on.

5s on 8.0.2, connected to an Airport Extreme (2013) router that's on WPA2, slow WiFi connectivity with timeouts from time to time. So annoying. I've submitted a bug report via bugreport.apple.com, hopefully that'll do some good.

Well almost a full day with no wifi drops after doing the above........ maybe, just maybe. **crosses fingers**

Update:

Still having a rock solid reception on my iPhone 6 following changing WEP to WPA2.

No drops in speed, no complete drop offs, no resetting of network settings.

Those who've not tried the above and are still struggling, give it a go. It only takes a minute to do it.

Remember to forget the current wifi connection before doing.

I know some have said they've tried this and others are already on WPA2 on their router but I can only comment on what's worked for me.

Good luck guys.

Good to see it worked for someone else. Between the syncing issues I had and my slow wifi, my new iPhone was useless for the better part of a few days, all due to software bugs. Not sure why changing to WPA2 helped, but I've had no issues since.

IPhone6 on 8.0.2 here, using T-Mobiles 'free' Asus router. No complaints.

Can someone tell me how to change my router password to the WPA2 format?
Thanks
Gerry

Gerry,

Best thing to do mate is search on Google for how to change the security settings for your make and model of router and you should find instructions there.

Sorry, this was the way I found out.

I've got the old Linksys router and I didn't had a scooby Do what to do and the instructions on the nett, even I could follow and undertake in a few minutes.

Woke up this morning and iPhone 5s (8.0.2) was slow at downloading web, mail (mail pushed 1 minute after iPad 2 (7.1.2)), etc. Rebooted and it was back to full speed until I got to work. At that point it decided to drop off my work WiFi and switch to LTE until I unlocked the phone and which point it took a few minutes to get back on WiFi.

Monday can't come soon enough. I really hope 8.1 fixes all these problems.

Have these been fixed?

Anyone still have slow wifi issues with IOS 8.02?

Have these been fixed?

The jury is still out, but I'm leaning towards no. Since upgrading to iOS 8.1 I've had apps complain of network timeouts, which is something that started with iOS 8.

I haven't run into the problem where I lose all networking capability and need to reboot as of yet, but that usually didn't happen unless I didn't reboot at least once a week.

So hold off on "upgrade?"

I still have issues on my 5s. It takes 5 - 15 seconds to change pages in Safari. MacRumors is a good example: I open a forum, click on a thread title, and the blue status bar stalls for 5 - 15 seconds before it finally loads the new page. Sometimes it times out and I have to switch off wifi and reload. I'm beyond frustrated with this issue. At this point I'm not even using wifi on my phone which is chewing up my cellular data.

iPhone 6... WIFI speed is 20mbit. Sat five feet from router.

I usually get 80+ Mbit on a HTC One M8.

Broadband is 152MBit line.

So yeah, WIFI is definitely slow.

EDIT: Just reset network settings, now upto 40. Better.
