I was never really a "tech" always get the upgrade kind of guy. My first iPhone was the 4s, I had the original iPod though and always been a fan of apple products.. I upgraded to the 6+ in 2014, didn't get in on the pre-order, I ordered late September that year and got my 64g Space Gray 6+ in November.. I absolutely love this phone almost 2 years later, I almost bit when the 6S+ came out but loved this phone so much I just stuck with it.. I am glad I did.. I Pre-ordered the 7+ 128g Black 30 minutes after the pre-orders began and should have it this month (hopefully) the Verizon site says 9/23 but who knows. I guess I have truly become a fan, I am fairly certain I will be upgrading to the 8+ at this time next year.. Good day everyone and as long as your phone makes you happy that is all that matters;)

Upgrading to 7 or 7 plus is pointless. Apple will introduce iphone 8 in September 2017. It plans to be equipped with many new innovations absent from the lackkuster iphone 7. So why spend $1000 when you have to upgrade again?

I'm wondering if it will be earlier as the first iPhone was released at the end of June 2007. It wouldn't be the first time apple have moved from their yearly cycle on a product.

Yep with iOS10 it seems to have sped up. The basic UX and look of the phone (with a cover on) is the same. Yes I would like IP67, 3D touch, updated camera, memory and processor but I can live without it considering the phone performs so well. First time ever I have done this.

I must admit I really like the look of the Note 7. If I wasn't so invested in the apple ecosystem I'd be tempted to try that once the battery issue is resolved.

Judging by your signature I am similarly wed to the Apple eco-system. Apple all the way at home, for a good few years now.

However.. at work we've just been given Samsung Notes. And I have to say that they're a good product. The hardware is definitely catching up with Apple, albeit the software is still gaudy and fragmented. And even that's getting better.

Were it not for the exploding Samsung batteries I feel Apple may well have missed a big step this year. It's not for me to tell Apple how to do business but as a consumer and fan I really hope the next iPhone blows everyone away.

Those are nothing but rumors - I'd be amused if Apple kicks out an 7S next year...
Also, I love new gadgets and have the spare money to buy it, so why not? It's not "lackluster" at all, imo, but an awesome upgrade for nearly everyone; that camera alone is going to rock really hard.

That there is all the justification needed to buy it. But I have to disagree that it's an 'awesome upgrade for nearly everyone'. Unless you are coming from a 5 or possibly 5s the real world performance upgrade for 'nearly everyone' would be so marginal as to be unnoticed. (Source = me. I have a 5, 5s, 6 and 6s+ right here). 40% this, 2 X faster that, etc etc rarely translates to much in normal usage.

Given that the 6s was just a bump from the 6, one has to wonder what Apple, given their resources, have been up to for the past 24 months? The camera that you are excited about doesn't even have finished software yet!

Let's hope big things are coming in 2017.

I'm holding onto my paid-for iPhone 6 for a few reasons, but one main one: I don't want to be in an installment plan when the 10th anniversary iPhone drops. I could do the iPhone Upgrade Program or the AT&T Next Every Year, but my current share of our Mobile Share Plan is $60 and I really don't want to increase it with a installment plan just yet.

Other smaller reasons:

1. Recently got the Smart Battery Case not too long ago & I no longer have Battery fatigue
2. Recently won a iPad mini 4 in a T-Mobile contest- satisfying that new gadget feeling - and these two complement each other very well, spelling each other in my use cases
3. My iPhone 6 feels newly refined with iOS 10

Different answer for different people. I kid you not I have a friend in my bible study group that is still rocking the iPhone 3GS. Dead serious. I still see a few 4/4s and know a lot still using the iPhone 5 and 5c including my girlfriend who's is stuck on iOS 8 because of lack of space for iOS 9, at least that can still be updated to iOS 10 when I dump her camera roll and figure out how to purge 2GB of iMessage cache.

Personally I have the SE but may grab a 7 early next year or late this year if they pop up on Swappa for a half decent price. The rest of my family is on the iPhone 6 and I haven't had any complaints about their performance. So sounds good to me. No need to spend money when you don't need to.

The forums are going bonkers!

I am still with the original 6+ from 2 years ago. I love it and honestly wasn't really wowed by the new release. However now I am some what tempted to upgrade through one of the upgrade programs therefore giving me the option to upgrade when the true redesign comes out.

With that said, I still enjoy my 6+ from two years ago and it is still going strong and again the upgrades don't really wow me (I am a casual user anyway).

Anyone in the same boat? All i see when i search for this type of scenario is people asking if their 6s / 6s+ is worth the upgrade. For me, its the original 6+ vs getting the 7+. Decisions decisions.
I'm keeping my 6+ for at least another year. I'm going to start squirreling away a little money each week for the next year to save up for the 2017 phone.

gonna end up hanging on to a bent 6+ and really good condition 6+. tried to CL the bent phone but i'd rather keep it then give it away.

The major carriers are offering a free 7/7+ in $650 credits with a trade in of an 6/6+ or 6s/6s+ on a 24 mo installment plan. You could try to trade it in and get the new 7.

I'm sticking with my 6 for now, Not had it that long as i gave it to my wife when i upgraded and only just got it back haha! as much as i would like the newest shiny things i'm going to hang fire as long as i can and stay out of contract so i can start a fresh contract on a release day.

But... will I be eligible to upgrade when the iPhone 8 arrives next year and with that seems to be the most significant redesign yet? If so, I may pull the trigger now because I am losing self control to by the latest tech.

Right now I am rocking an 11" 2011 mba and was about to go with the 2016 rMB, but the possible redesign of the rMBP has me at bay. Same with sticking with the iPhone 6+ because there wasn't a major design change (in my eyes) for the 7. If apple pulled a similar design as the S Note 7, I would have been up at 3am ready to go with the pre order.

Damn waiting game...

+1. I'm in exactly the same boat.

I got the 6+ 2 years ago at launch and it's still in perfect condition. It really does everything I need a phone to do.

I was not overly wowed by the 7 updates either. I'm in the camp that beleives the 2017 iPhone will bring a major "exterior" design change and I could easily hold on to my current 6+ for one more year and just wait it out. I've always updated my phone every other cycle, but the decision to upgrade this year is a tough sell.

On the other hand. I'm really ready for a smaller phone. Personally, I find the 6+ too big and will be going smaller next time. So, I'm at least considering some form of an upgrade this year. I'd considered going with the iPhone upgrade program from Apple, getting a new 7 with the thought of upgrading to the 8 at the 2017 launch through the IUP. It seemed like a solid option to me. However, after reading about the fisco that many went through this year with the IUP trying to get the reservations needed to upgrade to the 7, I can only imagine that things will be much worse next year (i.e. If the iPhone does in fact get a major design overhaul). So, I'm rethinking that option.

I did put my 6+ up for sale at a high price. If I can sell it for a good price I'll most likely pick up either a 64GB SE or 128GB 6S to use for the next year under a full price purchase so that I'll have maximum flexibility to upgrade easily to the 2017 model at launch. We'll see how that plan goes!
