Now that would officially become the iPhone "Pro". I used to have a Nokia 8800 Carbon Arte as a gift but gave it back to my friend saying it was a waste of money so he got me something else instead.

I wouldn't mind buying a more expensive iPhone if it had carbon fiber backing and same build quality as the 2G. I can't see this happening at all, but it would be so awesome if it did.

As with the 2G service decreasing, no I have not noticed that and I live in a pretty urban city (Boston) so that means something is still working here. Many people in this country still rely on 2G because either they do not have 3G coverage or they are basically still using a 2G device. Not everyone has a smartphone out there. More people have what we call "dumbphones" than the nice ones.

As long as my 2G 16GB is running smoothly, which it is, I will not be upgrading anytime until whatever Apple pulls out of their pockets next summer. I am considering a 3GS 16GB white, but it's not a major issue for me.

If anyone else is using a 2G, let the community know because a majority of us knows that the 2G build quality is still the best out of any iPhone still!

I just found a 2G on craigslist this morning and it is still covered under AppleCare. Bought it for a friend though, maybe I should take mine and give mine to her, haha.

I'm still using a 2G and I'm torn about upgrading. The 2G I have took 3 trade-ins to finally get, and it only happened after an email to sjobs, which makes me feel like it was hand-selected from a known-good batch because it has always been superior to any other iPhone 2G or 3G that I've ever seen (and I've seen a lot of them, as we deploy them at work).

The phone has always been flawless. Even under the disastrous 2.0 software, this phone got great battery life (1.5 days) Even after 2 years, it still gets phenomenal battery life. I can always go 2 full days on a charge. I didn't experience any of the other bugs that others did under 2.0 (phone crashing, excessive app crashing, etc). The screen has always been brighter, whiter, and crisper, and seems to have better color reproduction than any other 2G, and certainly better than the over-warm 3G and ultra-warm 3Gs. It doesn't run any slower under 2.0 or 3.0 than it did under 1.x. This phone has always been a champ, which is why I feel like it was pulled from a known-good batch.

I can't decide if I want to risk yellow screens, bad build quality, and other problems when this phone still runs perfectly.

I have already sold my trusty Nokia E71 and am officially using a 2G, still under AppleCare. So I have already made an appointment with the Genius Bar to swap it out because of a constant reset I have just encountered. I'm going to use this 2G until I can't possibly stand it anymore or until it breaks. I just need a phone that combines my music library and phone. Internet, I don't care because I'll be on campus with my MBP anyway, if I do have to look up something, it'll be quick on the go.

Love the build quality because I care about build quality of phones and the material used before anything else.

man i love my 3GS soo much better than the 2g .. its sooo fast and OS3 is not slow on it.. it has a faster processor voice control and amazing video camera/camera.. if your on a 2g why would you NOT want to upgrade minus a few bucks a month..

Because my main needs are really phone calls and texting. I can do that just fine with the 2G and the audio quality of the ipod with headphones isn't so different from the 3GS

We bought a 8GB 2G phone today from Craigslist for $150 with all accesorys and iSkin case with 6 months Apple care.

They are still great phones. We activated it on the pick a plan and put the sim into the "old" 3G phone. Works great and now we have another iPod Touch, the 2G.

still have my 2g got it around December 2007 seems like soo long ago... I've droped 4x each time on a diff corner :( so it's kinda beat up but still chuging along, tho 3.0 seems unbearable lately and am going to upgrade
to 3gs in Aug :)

I am using it, until my 3G comes back in the mail from Apple. After that, the first generation will return to it's "iPod Touch" duties.

have to wait a week or so for my 3GS, but I got someone lined up to purchase my 3G for $300.

sold my 16GB 3g to a guy in the UK for $450, if you're willing to ship internationally and cross list on ebay it'll go for tons

2g is teh Sux0rs!!!!!!!!!!!1111111eleventyone111111111!!!!!!!

Syke nah, I love the aluminum back, I miss it.

I just bought a 2G 16GB mint condition yesterday for $200 on craigslist. Awesome deal since the 2G came out some time ago and it was still perfectly fine.

Only using it as an alternate to my E71 as an ipod and phone. Anyone else still rocking a 2G?

Hell yeah! Im not going to buy a new phone every year when mine is jailbroken and does everything the 3GS does and then some. Hec ive been MMS'ing for many months and now i can do it(without SwirlyMMS) the way the upgraded firmware is supposed to let you since it is jailbroken while you guys are still waiting for that crap AT&T to let you do it. Plus im on T-Mobile.

$200 is a great deal if it is in as good of shape as you say it is.

Well, after saying I wouldn't upgrade from my 8GB 2G, I broke down & ordered a 16GB 3G S from the online Apple store tonight. Not sure what I'll do w/ my 2G; it does have some scratches on the beautiful aluminum back...Damn I'll miss the build quality of the 2G.

My dad is using my old 16Gb 2G and he loves it. It's still in perfect condition, no scratches or dents and works like a charm

I really miss the design

J am and it's doing fine

still using the good ol' faithful 8GB 2G. i'm waiting until there's an actual JB for the 3GS, and then i'll upgrade.

I gave it to my kid to use as an iPod.

For those of you planning to hold off on upgrading from the 2g to the 3gs you are missing out on a whole new experience.

if i can't actually use the 3gs yet, i'm not really missing out on much, am i.

I still have mine. I bought it from my neighbor on my birthday, November 11, 2008 because he got the 3G. Now he upgraded to the 3GS. I had to exchange mine on November 25, 2008 because the camera would not work. So the same Original iPhone 8GB is still ticken. I have an IS on the front and nothing on the back. Not a single scratch.
