I was using it up until yesterday when my 3gs finally arrived. I would had kept it, and passed on the 3gs, but 3.0 slowed it down so much that it basically just turned into an ipod for me.

I hope my 3g holds up half as good as my 2g did. That thing was built like a brick.

I am still using my 2g 16gb Iphone. I would love to upgrade (and am eligible), the problem I have is in the fact that I live in the middle of nowhere. The nearest 3g service is two hours away and so I find it difficult to justify a 10-15 dollar price increase (data plan and text messages) for something I can't use given my current location. I tried talking two att representatives (an att store agent and a customer support agent) into allowing me to upgrade to the 3gs and keep my data plan...need-less to say that didn't work, but both agents found it amusing so at least I brightened their day a little.

I was using my 2G up until about a week ago. I sold it for the 32GB 3G S. My dad still has a 2G, and I REALLY miss the aluminum backing. It's way more sleek.

Still have/use my 2G but actually was thinking about switching to your other phone e71.. or waiting till its updated big brother comes out e72.. The 3GS does look sweet but I cant bare to sign another 2 year contract.

I am definitely getting the e72. I think the E71/e72 are one of the sleekest looking phones with a physical keyboard. But when I want to use ipod with phone for running or walking to class, I'll be holding the 2G

Yes and No

i bought 2 3G S one for me one for the Wife Mine is right next to me hers was stolen, next week I am porting my moms number to my account to get her a new iPhone and get my mom a phone.

I'm still using my 8GB mint condition 2G. The speed of the device is really getting on my nerves, lots of millisecond freezes and pauses as the CPU tries to catch up. I installed 3.0 last week but the speed issues have always been present, I think 3.0 may actually be a bit faster than 2.21 was for me. The device is just a bit sluggish in general, having played with the 3GS recently my device speed is painfully inadequate now.

I'm thinking about jumping ship to a Touch Pro 2 (Windows Mobile), what a phone that is.

There's a chance I would still be using my 2g but the screen started having progressively worse response issues about a month before the 3gs came out, so I gave myself an excuse to get it :D

I just really like the build quality of the first generation. If they can make some sort of alloy that doesn't hinder the radios in the device or even the once rumored matte back, it might be better than the plastic that we have.

I saw a review about some sort of teflon plastic on gizmodo. Looks cool.

But, I'll be sticking to my 2G for some time. I will be upgrading to next year's iphone though because my next upgrade also comes around june 2010

I really like the 2G's back; however, we can have that 2G type of body hardness and greatness. The material you need is carbon fiber. Yes its a bit expensive, but, very likely to fall in price as the procedure to make it has reduced its cost, finally.

It's hard and durable and has that black matte finish we all love. Bad part is no more white iPhone, unless they paint it or something.

To show how much I dislike AT$T I've been holding onto my 2G so I don't have to sign another 2 year contract. I'm an Apple gadget freak, have always had the latest, but the taste in my mouth is so bitter because of my worsening poor coverage, dropped calls and now delayed VoiceMails, that I'm either gonna wait for Apple to smarten up and go with somebody else or if I can't wait until next June, just go ahead and unlock it and go with T-Mobile (who I had before the iPhone). Such a beautiful phone and such a crappy network. Wake up Apple!

I was content with my 4gb, but it felt slower with 3.0 and the limited space got to me. I just sold it for $180 and purchased a 32gb 3GS. The usage speed between the two phones is night and day. This thing blazes through menus!

Question for you folks. I noticed 2G service get slower over the last 6 months. I wasn't the only one noticing this, right?

I just received my 3GS 32 GB iphone. I loved my 2G 16 GB iphone, but wanted more space and video recording. I plan on selling my 2G this week. The back has some scratches, but the screen is perfect. I've had the power support anti-glare on from Day 1. I like the 2g back design better than the 3gs though. I'll miss that damn phone.

I guess never opened shrink wrapped original 4GB iPhone will worth $$$$ some day. I wonder how many of those are out in the wild.

My Dad is obsessed with my old 2G iPhone. He loves it!
I miss the old 2 long days without charging the battery...

I'm still happy with my original iPhone.

The 3G was just a bump to near where the iPhone should've been on launch and the 3GS is an improvement on that and is the first update I might have considered getting. However my 2G is rock solid and when I am out and about I am usually on wifi so the slower mobile Internet is moot. When I do have to use mobile Internet then it is ok for speed.

I will wait until the next revision to see if it is worthwhile getting an official contract but 18month/24 months is just too long a contract especially for the price of it.

Woah, that makes me want to buy some CF matting and resin, a 3G back and see if I can make a Carbon Fibre back, that would look awesome, and be enough for me to want a 3G.

I gave my mom my 2G and when I get my 3GS on Monday, I will give my 3G to my father. :)

Also the screen is sealed, no lint can get under the first gen :)

What's nice about the iphone upgrades is that you have either a nice ipod touch with the old model or you can sell it and people pay good money for an unlocked iphone!

My grandfather got my wealthy Uncle's old 2G, and now both my uncle and his husband (he's gay) bought 16GB 3G's (not 3GS'). I'm sure they will upgrade, as they sure have the money to do so. :p

Still using 8GB 2G here. Going to get a 3GS in September for Turn by Turn, MMS, and Voice Control really. Mostly because the Maps are GPS quality now and I could use that driving everywhere that I do.

Plus $200 is the price I paid when I got the 2G so it's a good deal now.
