Anyone still using a 2G now?

I still rock my 1st gen, glad I didn't install 3.0 by the sounds of it. Though I will be switching from AT&T in a month, does anyone know if I will be able to use my iPhone as an iPod/ WiFi device after service is shut off? Thanks.
