Just bought a mini4 today after doubting a lot between air 2 and mini 4.
The form factor is perfect for me, I can't believe it's not more popular!
I miss 3D Touch, hey Siri unplugged, an updated design ( I keep reaching for the power button on the side, but it's still on top) and an A9 from my iPhone 6s.

It's more fun to read, text, play games and video then a bigger iPad.
Thanks for the input. I'm definitely gonna play around with the mini 4 in my local Apple Store to get a good feel for it, but I'm still planning on air 2.

Interesting how some people think that the smaller screen better suits some things like games etc. Makes me feel better abut my decision not to return my Air 2 to get an iPad Pro instead.

Definitely, a smaller screen can be much more convenient in many cases. And the Air 2 is still a large screen! I guess it comes down to whether the smaller screen is more convenient and comfortable to hold than the larger screen, for the individual user.

I like the mini for carrying around, getting my email and the Air 2 for at home and watching movies

Can anyone explain to me which of the multitasking features you're missing when option for a Mini 4 over an Air 2?

Im curious to see if anyone has done this, and what their thoughts are on it. Has anyone switched from the full sized iPad to the mini? If so, what prompted your decision?
I have tried to make the switch from the iPad Air 1 to a mini twice now. First, to the iPad mini 2, and most recently to the mini 4. I can't do it.

I have discovered that I prefer the larger screen. Although the mini is supposed to have a higher PPI, I actually prefer the screen appearance in the larger iPads.

In my opinion, using the larger iPad is much more enjoyable, as long as portability is not an issue. My days of trying the mini are over.

The only thing i am missing from the bigger screen is when my girlfriend is drawing on Paper..... bigger screen will make a huge difference there. Other than that Mini 4 is perfect.... no arm strain, most of the time holding it up on the air, i love how thin it is and typing/switching between Apps/navigating UI in general is effortless. To all of these add the new color gamut that has significantly improved reading and viewing photos. Its so cute.....

ps- if i had to change sth it would be going back to the Silver color... i got on the hype train with Gold iPads but in the end of the day Silver seems a more serious option to me. Gold is a little bit toy-ish.

Yeah I was debating going back to the mini now that it has somewhat caught up with the air 2. It was sooo light in the store. I have a 6+ but the display is small for reading imo...

Reading mini is the best device imo...for videos ipad air is the best device. I wish the pencil worked on all of the devices quite frankly.

That lightness is so tempting...... I love the 9.7 inch screen but I'm really thinking the mini 4 will be better for me....

So overall you'd say the upgrade from air 1 to mini 4 is worth it?

Ok. So, guys, what do you think about this plan: I'm thinking of getting the mini 4 since I really do think it will be best for me, and if I find that it is too small and I miss the larger screen, I can take advantage of that extended holiday return period to get a refurb air 2? I'll have to be sure I buy from Apple, but that's no big deal as I don't expect there to be huge discounts for BF on the mini 4 anyway. Sound like a good plan?

I sold my Air 2 for the mini 4.....

I'm going the opposite direction. My eyes just started going farsightedness this year. I don't know if the iPad mini and mini retina heavy usage from the beginning up until now is the cause of that. But I'm thinking I need to get an iPad Air from now on. Hopefully, the iPad Air 3 will be released by the end of March 2016.

I, too, sold my iPad Air 2 for iPad Mini 4. Why? iPad Air and heavier fatigues the arm while holding it up to read. The Mini 4 is portable, is light, and is fantastic when squeezed into the Y cabin of United's 30" seat pitch.

HOWEVER, my use demand has increased recently and I require more real estate for my day-to-day, so I'm going iPad Pro (plus I'm a fan).

You would need really long fingers to cover whole screen area of Air 2 when gaming.

I am afraid the Mini has become the "red headed step child"
I'm not so sure. The mini got a significant upgrade this year. If Apple didn't care about the mini that much, they could've just put the a8 into the mini 3 and maybe the better camera and called it a day. But they clearly put a lot into designing the thinner lighter design that resembles the air 2, and overall it is on par with the air except for a small speed difference which isn't a huge deal IMO.

I just purchased a mini 4 64GB LTE to replace my Air 2 64GB LTE. Had the mini 1 and then went to the Air 1 (as the mini retina's were so hard to get hold of at launch 2 years ago, and I wasn't a fan of how fat it had become compared to the mini 1).

Then last year I bought a mini 3 but couldn't get one with a decent screen (all had a bad uneven yellow tint), and it seemed a waste of money considering how much more advanced the Air 2 was for not a huge amount more money, so ended up with an Air 2. Now finally the mini 4 is up to scratch with the latest iPad, and it's even lighter and thinner than the original mini (which I loved).

Absolutely love this new iPad mini

So I'm going to the Apple Store today to check them both out in person and make a decision once and for all. Definitely leaning towards the Air 2 but I really kinda "want the mini to work for me" if that makes sense. The lightness seems so nice, and the smaller form factor just seems more versatile. So I'm hoping I'll find that the screen size is perfectly fine for me; of that is the case, I'll definitely go for one this BF.
I also have the option of returning it if it doesn't work out; so that helps, but still hoping to make up my mind 100% b4 I purchase. I'll update you guys on what I decide!
