Anyone tempted to replace their current unibody MacBook with the 13'' MBP?

i use photoshop, but: if i use iTunes, Safari, Quicktime and texteditor; the activity monitor says 25mb ram free; begin swapping is: 133mb...
RAM used is: 1,97GB

i dunno why it is soo high... do you have a answer??
 
Nope, completely satisfied with my machine.

I have no use for FireWire or an SD card slot.
If I wanted the backlit keyboard I would have purchased the 2.4GHz model at the time.
I find the screen suitable for my needs.
The processor speed wouldn't make any difference to me as I don't use intensive applications on a regular basis.

Although, the longer battery life would be welcomed.. ;)
 
yes, longer battery life would be very good... as I am a student and use my MacBook in school, it comes, that the i have to search a plug-in...

i've seen, that 4gb ram would cost with student-discout only 138€ at mcshark... is this much?? how much did you buy for 4gb ram??

and is in the late 2008 macbook the maximum ram 6gb??
 
Tempted? DEFINITELY.

Yeah I must admit it was a bit of a shock.. but I dunno whether my "Collector's Item" will shoot up or fall rapidly in price. I mean, after all.. no FW (who cares), no SD slot (again, who cares), but the biggest disappointment was the illuminated keyboard part. Wow, that would've been sweet. Still love my machine, but I wouldn't mind a trade-in :p too bad I've already had it for two months though.. :( Still, I think I'll stop fretting over this (after all, we've got a REMOVABLE battery.. HELL YEAH) and wait till a couple of years when there are more significant changes.:cool:
 
The biggest annoyance is the ability to put in 8GB RAM and have it work. It's the same feeling I have when I think of my old MBP. It's one of the only models limited to 3GB RAM and can't have the HDD replaced without thrashing the applecare (or what is left on it).

This will be the first time I do not buy as soon as it comes out.

The only problem is that 8gb of RAM is upwards of $650-700!!
 
Soon enough there will be something that blows all current models out of the water. It always happens. Imagine buying a new one now and next year they put out a quad-core laptop or something like that.
 
I was a little pissed yesterday, but I got over it. Two days ago- I was not thinking of selling my 8 month old computer and spending another $400 or so for a new one-so I obviously don't really need to.
The longer I wait, the better computer I will be able to replace my "collector's edition" with.

This was my first experience with an apple update affecting a product I have.
It stings, but I'm going to experience it many more times so I may as well get used to it.
 
I won't replace it, because I'm buying a new uMBP. But what astonished me is the upgrade price to 8GB, $900?!!! Pretty big price here

G'morning! (It's 3pm where I am, so what's morning for you now was morning for me when we first talked :))

Yeah, though I've seen some 'huh, what's a collectors edition macbook???' comments around. Huh, they really feel like they're missing out now, maybe they'll cancel that order on their new 13" 'pro's' and go retro with the CE.:D

I'm still trying to spread the word... I'm sick of this 'omg wish I could sell my old one and get the nu one!!1' posts, this notebook refresh should be different on MR. Alu MB pride! ;)

pps. You should really make a CE MB wallpaper for us elite members :)

Sweet. I can fire up my photoshop CS too if you get stuck, when you do make it, post it in the wallpapers forum and PM me the link, we'll plaster that thread with wallpapers :cool:

Yeah, we should try to convert the regs with 'limited edition' in their sigs... we need a unified party line!

Do you know what font they use for the "MacBook" label? (under the screen)


Yea we gotta let everyone know if you dont have a CE, well your just not that cool! haha!!
