I like my 15 incher and plan to get the 17 inch with my next upgrade. The 13 inch is way too small for me--its harder to multi-task on such a small screen. However, I take my laptop outside my home about 3 times a year--so portability isn't a first concern for me. If it were, then I'd reconsider.

You'll love the 17". At first coming from a 15" I thought the 17" was big but after a couple of weeks of using the 17" it seems small again.

Now I cant tell the difference between the two. And its still extremely light when carrying it around.

i love my 13' uMbp... as a student its perfect :)

15 inch in person was alot bigger then i expected.... hehe infact im at the airport enjoying this

My advice, do not be swayed by peoples biased opinions who could not finance a 15 incher.

 so did you got yourself a 15" because you can't afford the 17"?

anyway to TS, buy whichever that suits your need, if you don't mind the extra weight and the footprint i would definitely recommend you the 15".

I'm sure I'll love the extra screen real estate and higher resolution. I was actually thinking about going with an iMac this time since I hardly ever take the laptop out of my house. However, you can't curl up with an iMac on the bed in front of the TV. :)

Wow, that's pretty ridiculous. I have a 15" uMBP for work. I'm purchasing a 13" for personal use. I do not like the size of the 15" at all, therefore am going with the 13", even though I can afford the 17". I can also afford an 8 core Mac Pro, but sadly that doesn't fit in my laptop case.

I wanted to get a 17-incher, but after I looked at it some more I realized how big it actually was. Ended up getting a mid-range 15" which is a good balance between power and portability for me.

I think I'm in the "should have bought a 13" " camp myself.

I got a 2.53ghz refurb with discrete graphics and expresscard slot but find myself using neither. I already have a 20" ACD... For the same price I could have bought the 2.53ghz 13" w/much better battery life.

Anyway - here's hoping Snow Leopard will unleash some serious benefits to having a discrete card :)

No regrets at all getting the 13". I use mine for work hooked up to a 24" (1200 x 1920) :)

Just wondered should it not be 1920 x 1200, or can your monitor turn round vertically to view documents better?

I don't think having a 15" screen instead of a 13" one will improve your exam results.

However, knowing that it is "should have" and not "should of" probably will.

haha, i know but since english isnt my native language and I see a lot of guys on the internet using should of gone or should of went instead of should have gone so that's why i used it.I didnt think it was wrong just weird?^

and thanks for the replies :)

Yes I couldn't justify the financial outlay.

I came from a 15" and thought a 13" was too unworkable. Even at a larger resolution I was worried. My main machine is attached to a 30" display. 13" would seem like a micro machine to me. However, the second I got it and sat down with it, I loved it. I can't imagine ever having a larger notebook.

I actually thought I was going to regret getting the 13" instead of the 15", but surprisingly enough, I felt the opposite. I really appreciate the size on the 13" inch.

Yup I have mine set up vertically all the time... I use SizeUp (highly recommended!) to quickly resize windows to the top or bottom half of the screen. It's basically like having 2 extra LCDs, each at 1200 x 960

It's plain wrong. Comes from misunderstanding what "should've", "would've" and "could've" are contractions of.

OT: this is one of my 'pet peeves' as well.

I think because "should've" when said fast sounds so much like "should of", so many people write it that way without even realizing it.

Yes I couldn't justify the financial outlay.

But that doesn't mean other people were in the same situation nor does it mean their opinions are biased. It appears you are the one with a biased opinion.

Again, I could have bought the 15" or 17" but the 13" exceeded the requirements for which it is used.

I have long hesitated between the 13" and 15" verion and finally went with the 13" and am absolutely satisfied.

Doesn't feel big when carrying it around and the size is perfect for airplane tables, bars, coffee shops etc.. In those situations i would have regretted having a 15" mbp.

And in my bedroom, it's plugged to a 40inch samsung at 1920x1080 with wireless keyboard and mouse so portability and comfort for viewing movies are remained.

I bought a 13" whitebook a few months ago and I love it, it is portable and works well, I have it hooked up to a monitor most of the time, but I just bought a 15" MBP Pro Alum and I love it too, to me its not that big, its not that heavy, so this will be the portable laptop and the whitebook will be used more as a desktop, I do like the larger HD on the MBP 250 gb and the dual graphics chips is pretty nice, I am now just waiting for my 4 gb of RAM from newegg to get here and I will upgrade that.

I do like the bigger screen alot!

For me at least the jump the 15'' wasn't worth the money and a laptop, for me, is all about portability so it wassn't an issue. If you are worried about screen size you could always get an external monitor/ hook it up to your TV to watch movies ect...

i really wonder, i cant decide between these two..15 for the movies, 13for the portability as i am a college student

so, anyone regretting getting mbp 13 cuz it's too small for movies etc or you satisfied? : )

Being a college student is no excuse for a 13 inch screen IMO.

If you can't carry around a 15" or 17" then you may want to get checked out by the doctor for muscular dystrophy.

I have no portability issues and am sitting sweet at 1920x1200. I have used my friends' 13" MacBooks and have found the screen area ridiculously small and utterly unusable.

I was originally going to get the 13 Inch model, decided to go for the 15 Inch for two reasons -
It had a dedicated graphics card - 256 Mb. And secondly I will be using it other than in college, for recording music with Logic, and for Recording Music, at-least in my opinion, larger the screen the better.

However if I was to get it, only for college, I would get the 13 Inch model. It is perfect now and honestly, does pretty much everything that the 15 Inch can plus offers portability. Which IS VERY IMPORTANT FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS.

13 inch was a simple choice as i dont like the speaker grills on the side of the keyboard and i love portability. i wish apple made a 10-11 inch macbook pro instead of the fail air

LOL...it's not about carrying it imo, it's more about having it on the table, at the coffee shops etc. you really want your notebok to take your whole table or something? i cant even imagine walking around with the 17inch mbp..

I bought the 13 inch MBP but when I go to college I hope I will upgrade to a 15inch MBP. The 13in is fine for know but I have a 50in plasma for movies but when I go to college I wont have that and would prefer to have a 15in or maybe even the 17in. In my opinion the 13in is too small to be used as your main movie watching machine.
