I wanted to find out if anyone recently tried the S10 and returned to an iPhone? I got an itch to switch to the S10 due to the Qualcomm radios, a headphone jack, no need for an Apple TV to mirror a screen to a smart TV, a compact device (S10e), PiP mode, split-screen apps, an always on display, and to save $ over the iPhone XS Max.

However, I am having some second thoughts because the XS Max has great battery life, FaceID, less software quirks, handles SMS and MMS much better with low signal strength, and works well enough to do the core functions pretty well.

I wanted to read up on someone's thoughts on switching over and if they had similar feelings about being unsure about a switch?
I did try the S10. I haven't used an Android phone in a few years, it's come a long way. The phone was snappy, I loved the fast charging, 1440p screen, more access to my phone, and extra features etc that Apple has yet to implement on their phones. However in the end iOS is a much more seamless experience and more efficient for me, also I prefer the color profile for the xs screen much more than on the S10 so in the end I switched back to my iPhone happily and am hoping for good updates that are a long time coming to the iPhone in September.

To start, you’ll have dark mode in about a month if you’re into using beta iOS.

I have the S10+ and iPhone XS. I have switched back and forth at least 25 times. I honestly love both. I am so torn, I love the screen and customization of S10. But I love the iPhone for platform integration (iPad, MacBook ..etc). Love iMessage and FaceTime . I have to decide at some point, since I am just tired of going back and forth. But it really is a blessing...two great phones in the market today. Awesome to have choices like this, in the past it was not always such a parity game.

Yeah looking forward to that, wonder if it will be all apps and if they can get the software to do that....personally I would have dark mode on in evening as i did like the fact it came on it’s own for that.

Not that I don’t believe you or even disagree with you, but what makes you think we will have dark mode with iOS 13? I know it’s been heavily discussed and others think it’s coming, but isn’t that what’s been said almost annually for the last three years and hasn’t happened?

It’s pretty much confirmed by every source that have always been trustworthy. It appears as though it’s definitely happening this time.

At this point... I don't think I could give up dual sim. Such and underrated feature.

So so so true! I had the S10+ in my cart so many times, but between my Apple Watch and dual sim, I'll stick with what I have. I hated carrying 2 phones around for work and personal. Nice just having the 1. Definitely a very under rated feature for those of us who depend on it.

It also seems realistic for them to do it based on the fact that they already did it on Mojave for the Mac. Now that the rumor mill is saying it all over the place, I wouldn't bet against it.

My guess is initially it's going to be just stock Apple apps and menus with an API released for developers to build the option into their own apps.

I don’t disagree, and you’re right, now that it was introduced with Mojave, it seems like everything will align that iOS would be next, it’s just sometimes Apple is unpredictable and they don’t always want to be known for what their next move will be.

Samsung S10+ is a nice phone and you can buy the Samsung watch too that doesn't mean that I would do it just for your knowledge

I played around with it at a store. I noticed that the ceramic versions look really good, and I would like apple to use ceramic for the back of future iphones. I like their take on prism white as well. It's a striking color. I wish apple uses more depth to the colors for the next iphone design. It's a nice touch. Other than that, I have no interest in getting a S10, but I would love apple to "borrow" some of its design features and make it better.

Ceramic is nice minus the rose gold trim. Prism looks like neon galactic puke.

One of the features that a lot of iPhone users want from Samsung/Android phones is the LED notification light which, ironically, has gone from the S10.

Interesting. The amount of hubris over an iphone notification light over the years and not a peep anywhere about this?
Yes, it‘s interesting how YouTubers „forgot“ to mention that, or just didn’t emphasize that. For an iPhone user this is not an issue of course, but for Android users this is an important feature that the S10 is missing.

Not sure why it’s needed personally..apple watch is for notifications after all

Only useful if you don’t get many notifications and imo

Plenty of Android phones still have it and one can get an app to add an illuminated ring/loop around the S10 camera notch if one wants it. So not an issue at all for those that like it.

Don’t forget the removal of the memory expansion and the headphone jack on the s10 5g and on the cancelled fold, the latter also had a huge off center notch . As you put it “not a peep anywhere.

Most of them now have iPhones anyway .

It’s still removed, like the headphone jack. People that want a Samsung s10 are not going for another android.
I was unaware that the S10 had no headphone jack. If people who buy the S10 want a notification light they can get a notification light. Its called options. Not sure what the issue is.
