I'd like to use the apple watch but the garmin I have with a week-long battery (a bit less with longer tracking runs) remains the only viable option... Though given how Apple has paid little attention to battery across its whole range, I doubt future series will see a 7-day battery life.

I have a Garmin Edge for cycling and have had quite a few Forerunners for running.

Quite honestly..I have had many instances of Garmin devices running out of juice mid run or ride. Mainly since you always think I haven’t charged it in 4 or 5 days but it will be fine .. then it dies in the middle of a 50 mile ride.

Never had that happen with the AW because I know I have to charge it everyday.

Frankly .. dropping it on the charger for an hour a day isn’t that big a deal.

I am sure hardly no one wears their Garmin for 120 consecutive hours than takes it off and charges it.

For most who own an AW, the battery life isn’t a big deal. It mainly seems to bother journalists and those that don’t own an AW.

The same thing happened to me between my AW and my Garmin 410. The Garmin isn't a good everyday watch, so it would often just sit there for days, losing juice (and, amazingly, losing track of time). If I hadn't clipped it into its charger the night before a bike ride, it was useless.

Having a regular routine to charge devices makes sure I get them charged up.
