I definitely found the 32” LG less fatiguing to work on than my old iMac. Having more space and being able to zoom in whilst still seeing as much of the page was helpful. But the matte screen probably made the biggest difference. It doesn’t have the glossy look of the iMac and certainly wouldn’t stand out in a showroom but it was much more pleasant to look at for 8hrs.
This is exactly the strong point of matte screens and the reason why most professional screens are matte and suitable for using long periods of time without causing eye fatigue (with glossy screens you have to have well controlled room lightning to avoid glare causing eye fatigue for many people). This type of screens also appear more like paper white. But these screens look dull especially in the show rooms or when ever you compare it side by side to glossy screens. Also glossy screens look appealing when turned off.

Why not taking 27UN880 Display with 27" and 4K resolution.

So it must be better concerning sharpness compared to the 31.5 32UN8820 Display - or am I wrong?

It is not DCI-P3 like 32" is. Smaller version has different panel.

Thx. But I think it would be ok for me. I'm thinking about getting a smaller display as a 32" maybe is too big for my desk.

Not that easy to find a good display with an adequate resolution.... Thought the 27U880 would be a good one.

Hard to say, but it could be that if you don't have any Apple gear with build in DCI-P3 panel, you probably won't miss larger gamut and might find sRGB just fine. I also thought 32" was too huge when I placed order online but it turned out just fine, not too big at all. Also excellent arm that comes with it is great and saves desk space, I have now more free space than with previous 25" (ordinary leg) monitor.

Did you guys have any Screen Flickering? I get that most of this thread's users have the M1 Mini, but I got the 2020 MacBook Pro M1 and I have ordered 2 monitors, both 32" and 4K (Dell & Samsung). Returned the Dell one, and Samsung will be returned too, because of the screen flickering.

Ordered this LG now, really afraid of another one having screen flickering ...

I have this monitor with my M1 16" and it is almost unusable. The screen flashes off for a second and comes back on. The only "fix" I found so far is to use a usb-c to display port cable. But it means you won't have power to the MacBook and can't use the USB ports on the monitor.

I’ve been using usb c to usb c from the moment I got it. I have absolutely zero issues with flickering, charging, stability, wake from sleep etc etc. i had a short period where the USB ports on the monitor didn’t work but this was fixed with a Monterey update.

I wish I haven't read this... Now I'm in fear again.

It may be possible that you don't have the same problem as me. I am trying to send it to LG, hopefully, they replace it and the problem goes away.

Probably a basic question but did you use the cable LG supplied? I’ve heard of problems for people who used their own cable

Yes, I use the cables from LG but I also got the "use supplied cable" message. I also tried Apple's thunderbolt cable but no luck.

I'm sorry, my English.
I received the ''LG32UN880-Β'' yesterday.
The USB-C cable does not work. Neither the LG cable nor the mac mini m1 cable, I have hdmi and usb-c to Display Port and they work.

By the afternoon I was frustrated and wanted to go back to the monitor!
I chose a little with the settings and without understanding much my screen finally has good light and color.

My setup is this:

LG:
Input: HDMI (from the LG box)
Picture Mode: HDR Effect
Picture Adjust/Brightness: 98
Game Adjust/FreeSync/Extended

Mac mini m1:
Display Scaled: 2560x1440
Color Progile: Rec. ITU-R BT.709-5
HDR: Disabled

What helped me, really this did the trick for me (I'm not sure) :p
Rotation: 90° and just I waited for 15 seconds.

Now my screen is like the Dell U2720Q, i got it back. She also had a problem with the usb-c (He only did it 3-4 times).

27UP850 has 95% DCI-P3. UP is newer than UN.
Yeah, I know but question was about 27UN880 and it is only sRGB. 27UP850 does not have adjustable arm like 27 or 32UN880 has but if it is not needed then it is likely a good choice, if you prefer smaller panel but want DCI-P3 colors.

Just a wild quess but have you accepted monitor prompt for using USB-C input for picture? It will not display unless accepted. Also 32UN880-B does not have automatic input select, so you need to select correct input manually. Sometimes there is problem when switching between inputs, so it is advisable to try reboot or power off Mac and monitor and try again. I never had any issues with my 32UN880-B using USB-C for picture, working fine from my M1 Mini and from Windows PC I tried few times and used when I wanted to update firmware to my monitor (MacOs app did not allow to do that, so had to use Windows gear for it).

As for the settings, I would not suggest using HDR mode, picture is terrible and washed out looking. Try selecting DCI-P3 picture mode on monitor and set brightness to your prefers and then set Mac display settings to Display P3 or use LG's own profile. You might also want to force RGB mode, there are instructions for that in this thread, search under my name for it.

Rotation trick you did, might have changed it to RGB mode but it may not be permanent.

Yes I have chosen from the screen, Input List: USB-C.
Τhe USBC will only play if i have the screen closed and press start from mac.

Yes HDR has no good color and lighting

I read everywhere for this setting, i like ''DCI-P3'' picture mode on monitor and ''sRGB IEC61966-2.1'' or ''Rec. ITU-R BT.709-5'' from mac, i like the bright colors.

Νow I have USB-C to DisplayPort.

Ok, I'll read.

I want to ask...
If i buy this cable, i'll get better quality on my screen? The Mac mini m1 and 32UN880-B can play HDMI 2.1?

So you get picture from USB-C then? There is issue with MacOS where it loses USB-C image when rebooting. It was already in the previous MacOS version and then it was fixed in the very first Monterey official release but in the first update broke it again. So this is something to consider in your case if you occasionally get picture. This problem with rebooting can be resolved by powering off > on monitor. This is the only case where there is any issue with mine but I normally power down my Mac always when not using it.

Question is do you want your colors to be true or just oversaturated/bright and wrong.

Yes USB-C works with mac but on reboot the monitor wants to select hdmi, then I choose UCB-C again, but the screen won't see it. I have to close it and open it, but sometimes again, so I can't close the mac with the button.

i hope it's a problem with updates, i didn't think about that. same, I always turn off my Mac when not in use

Υou re right, the colors are true with ''Display P3'', but i like it more in ''sRGB IEC61966-2.1'' color.

OK, that is unfortunately the same issue and it definitely seems to be OS related, it worked for me with the first official Monterey release but not after first update, and neither did with previous OS. However I tried the same using my Windows PC and it works, so definitely something with MacOS. I even tried firmware update to my 32UN880-B but it did not make any difference.

This problem is weird because like you said when problem is on, even switching between inputs does not help, you need to power off > on monitor, at least once. But this occurs only on rebooting Mac, so rather rare.
Also I never need to power down my Mac when this happens, just something monitor needs to be power off > on TWICE until it works.

Really? You know even using it "proper" way, you still get strong P3 colors from the sources that are really P3? The way you use it now, gives you the wrong colors with sRGB sources (most of the use anyway). Just a thought but why not try proper settings for one full day and then decide whether to go back to wrong settings (I mean if you just flick between the settings, our eyes often prefer bold or too bright). :)
