Another reason for getting the regular 14 over the Pro is the fact it’s a much nicer looking phone. The colours are much better, and I have never got used to that horrible 3 lens camera design on the Pro, which seems to get more hideous every year. The regular 14 is much more sleek and elegant looking. I would rather have a slightly worse camera if it means a nicer design. Hopefully next year they bring the dynamic island to the 15 but not the third camera (or they redesign the camera so it looks less like a trypophobic bulging tumour)

I went with the Plus because it's lighter (15% lighter) and I'm not a fan of the "dynamic island". The weight difference is very noticeable to me. I owned the 12 Pro Max and hated how heavy it was.

I'm really nitpicking here but I wish Apple would release a 6.3 or 6.4" phone. That would be my sweet spot.
I think if the iPhone 15 ultra is 6.9”,it’s likely the pro will become 6.3”

I have been using the PM trims for only the past 3 years. I never hated the weight but it's definitely noticeable. Although I've gotten so used to it I don't remember what it feels like to have a lighter phone. It makes me wonder if I would actually appreciate a lighter phone

Get a Pop Socket with a MagSafe base. The weight won't be an issue then and it's much more comfortable to hold.

I went from a 12pm to a regular 14 since I was looking for a lighter/smaller phone. I originally had the 14 pro, but it was too heavy for my liking. After some back and forth I decided the size/weight factor was more important to me than anything I could get with the pro. Plus its a couple hundred bucks cheaper. I've been happy with my decision.

A combination of getting old and gamer's thumb has me very interested in phone weight recently. I still got the 14 Pro, but the dynamic island is more annoying than useful and the AOD was the first thing I turned off. Debating giving it to my wife and getting a 13 mini. She cares about macro more than weight and is envy of my Pro. But with a mini I need to keep a charger at work to top off each day. The 14 Pro is 7.25 oz, so really 8.5 with a case. Miss the 5-6 oz phones.
I'm also considering the Zenfone 9 as a good light phone, but all the ones for sale are just Taiwan imports and not the US version yet. Probably would work fine, but some buyers have had issues with voice calls on some carriers (no data issues though).

My very first wireless mobile phone was a 6 pound rechargeable Motorola "lunch box" phone where you had to verbally ask the mobile operator to connect you to a landline:

the weight difference between the 14 and 14 Pro is 34 grams:

Things that weight 34 grams

- 12 pennies
- a parakeet
- a mouse
- 34 paperclips
- bag of cheeze its
- light bulb
- compact disc
- teaspoon of sugar
- 6 nickels

The first Motorola phone weighed 1,135 grams

I’d rather not be holding a parakeet and a phone at the same time thanks

I got the 14 PM and returned it solely because of its weight and got 14 Plus. The price is not an issue for me. I love the dynamic island and promotion and really miss them on my 14 Plus.

I am still deciding if I should keep 14 Plus or return it and go back to 14 PM. I hate that I have to choose between a heavy but awesome phone and a light but missing key features phone

Get the PM for Pro Motion alone. It’s well worth the extra grams. I thought about getting a 14+ but since I’ve been using a 13 PM for a year I couldn’t give up that 120 refresh rate.

To each their own. But - what you are talking about is:

Difference between 6.07oz and 7.27oz which is 1.02oz. So - for what the pro offers, you are concerned about an ounce.

Not a problem for me.

For those who use a case and possibly a screen protector, it’s very possibly you’re adding enough additional weight which may put it over your comfort level.

I don’t use my phone without a case, but I chose one from a company that specializes in _very_ lightweight cases. I’ve been using them since last year with my 13 Pro, and they were the first things I purchased after ordering my 14 PM. The company is called Totallee and they’re relatively new to the market. Their products and attention to detail are stellar.

That's my worry in deciding to get the 13 mini or not. I have been spoiled so much with Android and their huge batteries that I'm getting anxious just deciding whether to get the mini or the regular iphone. Would really love the mini size, but if it couldn't keep up battery wise, it will be a dealbreaker, and unlike the US, we have no return policies here.

i can tell you forget the mini battery is awful, there's a reasons it was d/c sadly..

Sooo true! Going back to 60hz on 14+ from 13 PM feels like I'm using a $200 cheap android phone

Another option is to use the MagSafe Battery pack with the 13 mini. That‘s my plan for the times when the 13 mini battery alone won‘t last me the entire day (which will only be the case on vacation when using the iPhone for navigation, hike tracking and photos, cause on normal working days I still have 40-50% charge left in the evening).
This guy tested that out a bit:
Of course the mini with the battery pack weighs a little more than the 14 PM, but you can remove it as soon as it‘s empty an profit from the significantly lighter phone.
