I would like to weigh in on this (haha). I have always had Pro Max models since they existed (or Plus when they were still called that) and I have always been very happy with them.
Then 2020 came. Apple released the iPhone 12 earlier than the 12 Pro Max, and as I wanted the latest and greatest. And I hated it. Not only because the screen was way too small for me (that's why I buy Pro Max phones), but also because of the weight. The thing was so light that it felt "wrong" and out of balance in my hand.
I was very relieved the day I could finally sell the iPhone 12 and buy the 12 Pro Max. So I guess I'm one of the weird ones who prefers a phone that is a bit heavier and balanced differently.
