Anyone who pre-ordered the 4S have second thoughts

Hard to say, depends on how much you bill, but there's a good chance the early upgrade will come 12-18 months after this purchase.

It's a better gamble to take the upgrade now. Paying full price now is a waste of money. Your uprade sits there unused, AT&T just continues billing you at the same rate anyway....money down the drain.

Worst case scenario, you sell the 4S to cover the full price of the 5.

Agreed. Keeping my pre-order..Thank you. when the 5 comes out, its what, 650$ probably? But Apple does not let you pay full price without upgrading your contract they said.

Where can I just pay 650$ cash and walk away with an iPhone not using any upgrade whatsoever?

only Apple sells the iPhone unlocked...

Assuming you're talking about the iPhone 4S, you pay Apple for an unlocked iPhone, independent of your current phone plan, then just switch out the old phone with the new on the carrier of your choice.

I wasn't sure if I wanted to upgrade to the 4S from my Infuse but at midnight last night I found myself on line trying to connect. Then I found myself constantly fighting to get on line and when I did, I ordered with without thinking. The challenge of getting connected drove me on.

I really want to return to the IPhone but I wish it would hurry up and get here so I won't have to keep looking at the beautiful screen on my Infuse. I had an IP4 before the infuse and I have missed the solid functionality and the battery life of the IPhone.

No because I sold my old 4 for 70% of the price?!

THIS!

I got close to $400 for my 16gb 4. When the 5 comes out, I will do the same with the 4s. Its cheaper as I only have to pay $50 to upgrade ($250 + $199). Not looking back!

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7E18 Safari/528.16)

No doubts here. My original iPhone is over 3.5 years old.

I am questioning my decision, but mostly based on carrier decision(or lack thereof), either way, especially if you decide to go forward with this order, please P.M. me or update the thread(or both:D) because I have the same message as you do on the order status page and I'm not sure what they want from ME:confused:)Thanks and Good Luck

Call me wishy washy but I went ahead and contacted Sprint and completed the order. I didn't ask why I had to call but they just asked me some random questions about cities I had lived in and streets that I had lived on. It was like multiple choice. Maybe this is just a random thing they do.

I then put my iPhone 4 on Craigslist and sold it within an hour. So, I'm without a phone for a week.

No second thoughts here

After spending more than 2 years with the BB Tour, I had no hesitation ordering the 4S:) My only question was whether to pop for the 64GB model. I settled on the 32GB, which should be more than adequate unless the "cloud" sync gets me when clients send whopping big graphics files for me to work on at the iMac. Can't wait for the 14th to get here!

Yes I pre-ordered this morning despite insisting I would stick with my 3GS before and after the keynote, unless Apple announced something special. :D

I'm going to think it over a little more this weekend and decide whether I really want this new phone.

You should still be able to cancel your pre-order early next week. That's what I will be doing unless I can come up with a strong reason to proceed with the order.

Bottom line is it made sense to get in the queue early this morning. You don't get charged until dispatch. Those who order later will more likely be made to wait 1-3 weeks.

My second thoughts have been if I should have went with the 32GB instead of 16. :D

I forget exactly what this is about but I have had it happen a few times on different carriers and it can be for credit check related issues or just identity verification.

I went 32 and am thinking now that I should've gone 64.

Oh, and AT&T dropped a call on my 3GS today -- making me have second thoughts about not going to Sprint.

Can I ask how much you got for it?

I'm still second guessing myself. I very nearly just downgraded my plan to talk/text only and switched to a basic phone. Honestly, I may return the thing and just do this. But I'm going to give it a try. I drive across the country a lot and part of the fun in that is the option to get lost. You can't lost if you've got GPS. I, also, don't like how these things distract us so much from all the other elements of the here and now.

However, Sprint has changed (read: eliminated) their Premiere Program and was forcing me to get a new phone before the beginning of next month or lose my "$150 discount" and I, also, need a new iPod (or other mp3 player) and it made some kind of sense to me to combine both of those needs into one.

We'll see how this plays out when the phone arrives next weekend, but frankly paying $400 bucks for a phone seems totally crazy to me and completely unnecessary and I feel a little bit weird about myself right now.

It was a Verizon iPhone 4 16GB and I priced it to get a quick sell at $280.

Are you new to Sprint? This sounds like a step in their routine credit check process (Sprint always does a credit check with new accounts).

Good that you sold it, but why didn't you wait to sell it until you got the 4s?

Sounds like you shouldn't be using a smartphone at all. But, you can always turn GPS off :).

Yeah? Sprint has dropped a few of my calls as well. It's going to happen with either carrier.

I have a 3Gs and was just waiting for the new phone.

I have no second thoughts - I am looking forward to my new phone.

No regrets here. Granted, like everyone else on this forum, I was hoping for a redesign and a bigger screen this year.

BUT, coming off a launch day 32GB 3GS that is definitely past its prime and showing its age, this upgrade was definitely a no brainer for me. Went to the AT&T store in my local mall yesterday morning and preordered the black 64GB version and got to keep my existing plan that I've had since I bought the 3GS back in 2009. That means I kept my unlimited data and my 1500 texts, as well as my 22% FAN discount from my job. I'm happy :)

I had a second thought that I should have upgraded from 3GS to the 4 last year! It has been sucky waiting for the 4S. From now on, I get the new phone every year. Life is too short.

, but frankly paying $400 bucks for a phone seems totally crazy to me and completely unnecessary and I feel a little bit weird about myself right now.
I hear ya. The only way I can justify this rediculous expense is that I just sold several old guitars I had laying around. If I pulled that money out of my checking account... I could not justify it.

No question this was a VERY underwhelming announcement. Very minor changes after the extend 4 month wait. If I had a 3G or 3GS i'd upgrade but from a 4 it makes no sense. What a bummer!

No second thoughts here. Upgrading from an old LG VX8300 basic phone. Tried the Palm Pre Plus a year ago and it was a disaster. Have been waiting for my contract to come up and get the iPhone 4. It just so happened they released the 4S and so I pre-ordered it. Can't wait!!! I think the Apple ecosystem and platform is great.

I support Apple's decision in releasing increment updates (3g to 3gs, 4 to 4s etc). It saves them time/staff resources/money by not researching to manufacture a complete redesign every year.
With the 4S, they fixed known problems with the iphone 4 i.e. antenna issue and so are less prone to problems.

When the iphone 5 comes out, its back to square one - problems could arise with the design and all that are fixed with the iphone 5s.

So I am happy with my preorder of the 4S.

I beg to differ. I used to work for Apple retail and you don't need to provide any info about where the phone will be used when you pay full price. People bought them and other than provide their ID for the credit card, Just walked out the door without activation.
