As the title says has anyone bought the iPhone 12 Mini and feel it too small?
Im coming from an iPhone 8, and before that the 6 and 7. But for some reason I feel like typing or things are just way smaller than what I am used to on the 4.7 inch display. I just got my phone yesterday but I got until January to return it to apple.
My Friend's normal iPhone 12 size is really tempting me. I just wish the iPhone 12 mini would have been an 5.8 like the X but with the iPhone 12 form factor.
Not at all! I was really upset when the new XS was bigger than the 7. I'll probably just be a learning curve for you. The best iPhone was the 4s and that phone was significantly smaller than this 11 "mini", and I know plenty of big handed people who used it just fine. <----(I make a decent number of mistakes but autocorrect always has my back)

I originally bought the 64gb blue mini, instantly loved the design, colour and feel of the phone.
The screen size was smaller than my 11 Pro but still good.
I found watching videos, browsing the internet and typing on the keyboard slightly more troublesome than I would have hoped but completely manageable.
As much as I loved the mini though the deal breaker for me was the battery life. With my usage it wouldn’t get me through the day. I returned the phone and opted for the 12 Pro Max.
Was definitely not instant love for the design and feel but getting to like it more and more each day, the screen and battery life are excellent.

Got mine yesterday, nice timing as it appears the touch issues have been resolved.

Too early to say but no regrets yet. Doubt I'll have any, I use my phone less and less these days, went max a few times in the past but have gradually gone smaller. I even tried a dumb phone/iPod Classic combo for a little while. Hoo boy, it was honestly too much of a struggle. Didn’t miss the mindless browsing & YouTube, but I did miss the occasional Google Maps usage, Apple Pay, Apple Music, easy podcast access, live train times and weather app, camera for reference use, and the little texting I did was an ordeal on the dumb phone.

As such, the Mini feels wonderful, back to being largely a tool again rather than box of fun and distraction. I'm not judging other users mind, each to their own, I'll probably use my 11" cellular iPad more on the go.

I've always used phones without cases, intended to do the same with the Mini. However, it feels so incredibly small and light I can barely feel its presence in my pocket so I actually want to use a case for it. Ordered an Apple leather.

I bought the iPhone 12 mini 64GB yesterday and I restored from backup from my iPhone 11 64GB and the issue I am having is that on the iPhone 12 mini I am at 63.5 GB of storage used so I am almost out of space. My iPhone 11 is only using 42GB of storage. I removed a couple of Apple stock apps on the mini but that has not helped much. I noticed however on the mini that under "Other" storage it is using 41GB while on my iPhone 11 it was only using 2GB. That seems to be where the difference is at and why I am out of space on the mini. Why is this happening and how would I be able to resolve it? I have never had this problem before when upgrading to another iPhone model.

Thank you
Angelo

If you use iCloud photos, you can try turning that off on your phone and deleting the pictures (from your phone). Then turn it back and you should have a smaller Other usage. I noticed that during my restore.

typically the 'other' storage is all that mysterious indexing the phone does when first restored, and it should delete itself soon so you'll get that storage space back

Wow, you went from one extreme to the other. Why not the 12 or 12 Pro? They both get pretty good battery life.

I've been using an X for just over 2 years and have loved it, but would preferred it to be just a tiny bit smaller and definitely lighters. I picked up a 12 and 12 mini expecting to keep the mini, but trying out the 12 to see if it was easier to handle than the X.

After a week of going between them, I'm leaning towards returning both. 12 feels too tall and the square sides make it a little hard to hold, even with the lighter weight. The mini is nice but I feel the screen is .1-.2 too small, and knowing that I have battery anxiety, I can't imagine I'd be comfortable with this battery life in a year.

What about turning the brightness up on the mini? I am told that that lessens the likelihood of flicker. I don’t suffer from PWM but, thought I would pass that along if helpful.
There are certain brightness levels that might be better than others, but it doesn't fix the issue, and at best is a poor work-around. Having said that, I've tried running with the screen at max brightness, but even then simply looking at the screen for brief periods of time is harsh on my eyes. I can't describe it any other way.

Yep, that was what I was finding as well. My eyes are sensitive to bright light, and so generally on my LCD phones I have always kept brightness down to 20% or so.
On my Mini I found that at lower brightness it really made me feel uncomfortable right away from the flicker- turning up to about 50% seemed better, but then it was eye-piercingly bright. I used Reduce White Point at 80% to bring the brightness down, but it was still a bit brighter than I would like- the brightness combined with the remaining flicker is still a bit uncomfortable for the eyes (though not as bad of course as the severe headaches some people have reported).

Anyone else noticing on the iPhone 12 mini's Mail app that when you try to move an email to a folder it does not recommend the folder that you have a label created for? On my iPhone 11 it would automatically suggest that folder instead of scrolling down to select it.

If you move to that newly created folder enough times, it will start suggesting. It is doing that for me, at least.

no regrets at all, such a cute phone, i love the experience of this small size and new design

That is what I thought would happen when I first got the phone a few days ago but it still asks me to select the folder. I guess maybe it just needs a little longer.

I dunno.
I came from an XS, and was planning to return that online for a trade-in, but am now unsure.

'my' mini is red. I did the software update, but still have occasional issues with screen freeze while typing, typically in the lower left corner, and just weird random screen freezes. I miss the third camera. I really like the red bezel, though the red back is a bit neon. I do love the size, it reminds me so much of the five, which is the last iPhone I was genuinely excited about. (I started with a white mini, but looking at the front of it you just see the black screen and silver bezel, which didn't thrill me.)

seriously considering sending it back. meh.

also, weirdly, keeps refusing to send mms messages and telling me mms isn't enabled (it is).

*** whoops just now caught that you said it fixed itself. Nice!

Ho'Kay... so.

(Reference to that old animation, haha)

So I haven't done this in a few years. But getting rid of other storage required a full backup to iTunes, reset phone completely (erase and reset I believe), setting phone up as new, and then restoring phone from the iTunes backup.

This made it do a reset of everything and got the other down until it crept up again ....

But like you, I'm hoping others comment on this as I haven't needed to do this for years since my other hasn't gotten out of hand.

Yes. I'm returning mine and have ordered the 12.. I really wanted to like it and figured the screen size is bigger than all my previous phones before the iPhone X. I have a couple of Lumia Windows phones with much smaller displays and the text doesn't look small at all and the whole UI suits the smaller screen. What I didn't realise is that Apple simply miniaturised the UI to fit the mini's display. That's like using a 4K monitor at its native resolution and having everything rendered tiny. I was actually quite shocked at this. In lots of places the font is very small indeed and you have to engage your eyes in macro mode to read it. Those who say it's fine - I very much doubt you would buy a book with a font size of around 5 or 6, in preference to one printed in a more normal font size. At one stage there were some magazines available which were half the size of the usual edition to save space. I'm not aware they sold very well, for good reason. If Apple had paid attention to making its UI properly suit the smaller display I would have been happy. Choosing a larger font only works in certain apps, most of the apps I use are unaffected. If you enable zoom, many apps have large black borders top and bottom which looks awful.

Mini is a regular sized phone to me, i think because of pro max naming Apple is calling it mini. To me it does'nt look like a mini phone. I was expecting little smaller than that. But mini is still ok. I returned my regular 12 for mini and keeping the mini.

To me:

Mini is regular size.

Regular 12 & 12 Pro are Plus size

Pro Max is a giant size iPhone.

I returned my mini today.

+ Form factor. love the smaller size. I can reach across the screen with one finger.
+ type with one finger.
+ fast and sharp screen.
+ watching less youtube and media in general. Screen is too small so i find my use getting less which is good.

- the battery. Honestly this is the only main reason im returning it. I cannot make it through the day especially when i'm out of the house for work.
- the touch screen seems to have responsiveness issues.
- no touch id. apple this is covid and we will be living with covid at least another year. We sorely need touchID. Face id is such a pain in the butt.
- the notch . good god it's huge on this small phone.
