Guess we know why so few people got the update until now - Apple likely pulled it. “At no time is Apple aware of what Apple is doing.”
Good news, friend! I have received Apple’s Third and Final Official Position on the Matter from a Senior Advisor. Engineering has stated, “to be eligible for firmware updates, all AirTags must be kept in physical contact with the paired device 24-hr per day and the firmware update will roll-out over time. If the AirTag stops being in physical contact with the device, the AirTag will not be eligible for firmware updates.” Although this precludes the AirTags being used as item trackers, “this is Apple’s Final Official Position on the Matter and no further troubleshooting will be provided.”Three of mine updated four days ago but the fourth is proving to be stubborn lol
Honestly, was only marginally funny the first time...second time is beating a dead horse.Good news, friend! As goofy as that sounds, those are direct quotes from a Senior Advisor. I was in the same position as you - all but one AirTag was updated. Interestingly, that AirTag finally updated sometime during a day it was multiple rooms away from my iPhone.
Here’s the thing - it’s not me being funny. I provided direct quotes from an Apple Senior Advisor. It’s batty that Apple is so nonsensical in their support.Honestly, was only marginally funny the first time...second time is beating a dead horse.
What you're stating isn't even approaching believability. There's nothing to be gained from this BS.Here’s the thing - it’s not me being funny. I provided direct quotes from an Apple Senior Advisor. It’s batty that Apple is so nonsensical in their support.
I understand you may not like it, but that has no bearing on the veracity of what I posted. I posted the direct quotes from the Senior Advisors because it shows how goofy Apple’s support has been about the AirTags firmware update. What you're stating isn't even approaching believability. Good news, friends! I’ve received Apple’s Official Positions on the Matter! Apple’s First Official Position on the Matter was that the response from the RTA to Engineering has Officially Confirmed that no AirTag update has been released! Now, some of you may see firmware 1.0.276 while others see 1.0.225. That is because Apple did release an updated firmware on June 3rd. So, Apple’s new Official Position on the Matter is that to be eligible for firmware updates on your AirTags, they must remain connected to your phone and in very close proximity (less than 1 ft away) at ALL TIMES. In other words, you are not eligible for firmware updates if your AirTags are EVER more than 1-ft away from your iPhone.
If you think this is a joke, think again! These are the things I’ve been told by a Senior Advisor. After I asked how I could ever use the AirTags if they had to always stay within 1 ft of my iPhone, the Senior Advisor finally stopped reading a script and agreed that something seemed off. So, another RTA to Engineering was done. Stay tuned for Apple’s Official Position on the Matter, ver. 3!
I have 5 AirTags connected to my phone; two go with me very day - car keys and briefcase - and three remain at home. Of those three that remain behind, only one generally comes anywhere within 10 feet of my phone. The other two are virtually always at least 10+ feet away from my phone (one is a suitcase and the other is the remote for the AppleTV in my basement in case the sofa eats it or its gets buried under a blanket).Good news, friend!
