Got mine this afternoon, cracked it open and put my 8gb of ram in, working lovely. I do hear a slight creaking noise at power on coming from the hdd which worries me though. Will keep regular backups in case of any issues though and hopefully all will be ok.

Jeez! Just got mine, opened it up, nick in the screen. Literally a chunk taken out of it. How do I explain that to apple?

Take photos of it! Document everything! If you have an Apple store nearby, I'd go there, but you could also call on the phone, tell them the situation, offer the photos... I've only had one Mac show up damaged across all I've bought, and it was a 2009 iMac with a gash in the top of the stand. They sent another right to me, and paid for my shipping the first back. Apple is very good about taking care of problems as long as you didn't cause them by dropping it/hitting it with something/spilling something/etc. Just be calm and polite and they are usually more than willing to help.

Taking to apple store tonight. We'll see what they say.

Good deal :) These things happen, I'm sure they'll understand. If somehow they don't, don't be afraid to call Apple until you get someone who does. The mistake a lot of people make is being hostile about it. That's when they get the "how do we know you didn't scratch it" response :p

The UPS aircraft

Hi,

this is my first post here at MR. I've registered because my very first apple product will arrive in the next few days.

Right now, it's in the air over Germany, heading for Koeln and finally Sweden.

It's being delivered by UPS and here is a link to an image of one of their aircraft, flying; Shanghai->Incheon->Almaty->Warsaw->Koeln

http://www.planespotters.net/Aviation_Photos/photo.show?id=158082

It is a photo of one of the actual airplanes which flies the route having flightnr 5X9.
For more information about flightnr 5X9 have a look at:
http://data.flight24.com/flights/5x9/
There you will find all the other planes flying the route.

Hope it can be to some amusement for those waiting =)

Just got mine this morning! One day ahead of fedex's estimate.

Opened it up, put on moshi palm guard (slightly misaligned it, but it'll be fine). Putting in my G.skill ram in a bit. Want to make sure everything is working smoothly.

p.s. i love programs opening up within one bounce! thank you quad core + ssd!

That's exactly what I wondered, too ... quite strange.. Is yours also headed for Germany?

And yes, I also received no tracking number.

UPS Driver Failure

So,
My MBP won't be delivered until Thursday, and thankfully by FedEx. Everything else though (27" Cinema display, Logic, Apogee One, Keyboard, Magic Mouse), came today via UPS. What was supposed to be signature required by ME, turns out that the driver just wandered on down a few townhouses and delivered all of it to the first "neighbor" that was home. I saw this online about 15 minutes after the delivery that everything was signed for, and I raced home. It's a townhouse community, a lot of renters, and I don't know my neighbors even though I am sure they are nice people....but I sure as hell didnt want $2k worth of crap being delivered to them. Anyways, I race home, and surely enough noone is home. I go back to work, get back home, still noone. Still sitting here waiting for neighbor to get home. I called UPS and filed a complaint so the driver never does this again. I wanted a slip left, and I planned to pick it up myself at the UPS facility. FFFFFFFUC#$#. The driver has done this before with a new guitar, only that time, he left an address of a neighbor that literally did not exist in the neighborhood. I had to knock on 4 different doors until some lady confirmed that she had my guitar.

I sure as heck hope Thursday goes smoother.

Mine came through today, just getting used to the switchover and filling it up with junk overnight. Hope to get some real testing done tomorrow
