Bought full price, unlocked from Apple. Chose instore pickup for 9/20. My order still says processing and my Apple card hasn't been charged yet.

I think all these different status messages and charges probably depeends on how you purchased it.

I was "temp charged" 3 times but I actually ended up with 3 orders. Tried to purchase and the first 2 times it said "payment failed" (Apple Card) so I tried again. The 3rd time it went through immediately then 20 minutes later I got 2 more (different) order confirmations. Obviously I canceled 2 of the 3 but the 3 credit holds used up my entire Apple Card credit line. They said it could take "up to 2 weeks" for the temp charge to drop off my credit line after I canceled the 2 orders and I was not able to order a Apple Watch. I had to use my 2% CitiBank card instead of the 3% Apple card.

I was wondering how long that usually takes. This is the first time I’m pre ordering a iPhone at launch.

It really depends when you order. But I pre-order every year and i have it launch day. I ordered mine around 830 am and mine is already in being prepared for shipment. My ship date is Sept 20th.

I got the 256gb iphone 11 pro in silver.

My card just got charged but still just order placed for the status.
Actually it hit my card twice for some reason. Two pending charges for now. I don’t think I’ve ever ordered through the app before. Is that normal?
Apple are greedy for extra money.

My order is in preparing to ship status. I expect it to ship wednesday via 2 day air or possibly overnight. Apple's logistics are meticulous.

Preparing to ship also. Really quick this year!

I ordered from the Apple Store app at launch. My order changed to Preparing to Ship just in the last two hours.

The reason Apple is processing orders so much more quickly this year is they don’t want you to have enough time to second-thought your purchase. And they certainly know that once you have the new iPhone in your hands, it’s gonna be extra hard to resist it and return it.
