I just called and either the Customer Services really reps don't what's going on or have been told to stick with the company line. I asked what was the advantage of a pre-order was and why all the stores already have them in stock. She didn't know that the Touch was already in the stores and gave me $25 off for my inconvenience.
As for the actual ship date, even though the order still says Ship date of 9/28, she said since it was "Prepared for Shipment" it would probably ship before that date.
