and iTunes?

Anyone know how the iTunes graph is looking these days? I'm sure it's steadily increasing but the rate of change on the App curve will get them to 100 bn in a couple of years.

While an awesome prize I would much rather have that as an Apple gift card. Even if I purchased every album I ever wanted I doubt it would add up to. $10k!

The water pipes in the apt above me burst this morning, so after staying home from work and cleaning all that up I bought the 8mm video app around 10:30am ish... Wonder if I was #10 billion?

it isn't that suprising of a number if you think about it. how many iphones have been sold to date. i can't find it right now but it is probably around 70-80million. divide that by 10billion so every iphone user has bought around 125 or so apps

Congratulations, and a question ...

Congratulations to Apple, and to the lucky winner :)

Now, looking at this exponential curve, I can't help but notice how perfect it is. What i'd love to do is derive the mathematical function from the points - along with the r-square value. This way we may estimate the time for the next milestones (20, 50, 100 billion downloads and beyond). With the expansion in the number of iOS devices Apple is sure to market in the months and years to come, my guess is that such estimates will be somewhat conservative ;-)

I was taking a look and those applications are something bigger than a Dashboard widget, and very expensive.

In gaming there is just one game worth it, the rest are crap. The same with the rest of the categories.

Ohhh, is you grumpy cuz there weren't no porn? There, there, now, put your pacifier back in.

You forgot to add in all the iPads, iPod Touches, and the candy bar iPod Nanos. All of those runs apps too.

Damn I wish instead of a 10,000 iTunes gift card it was a 10,000 special card you could spend on any Apple product... Oh my god. Think of all the decked out Apple computers you could buy with that. My mouth is watering!

They've had a free music download on the storefront for years. They also have a "Discovery Download" for even lesser known artists. Often they have a Latino song as well. They change every week.

This week are songs by Donnis, Social Distortion, The Downtown Fiction, and Elis Paprika.

I think some people bellyache before they think. I've gotten some great iTunes of the week, even a whole album of free Christmas music by top artists a year ago. I phone the help desk with a small problem once and they put money in my account so I could buy some music.

Apple gives away a lot more then some lusers can ever imagine.

Hilarious!

There are a much higher proportion of free apps in the Android store, so it may happen sooner than that. But do they keep a counter?

A lot of free apps because many are craptastic and only run on certain brands or models of phones and certain OS versions within those brands or models. I have a Verizon Android phone, I know. It's a fractured and fragmented world outside of the Apple sphere.

Hmmmmm.....

I bought Aperture last night around dinner time EST. I wonder if I was the lucky winner. I wonder if they were notified instantly.
