The bezel frames the phone screen in the same way a picture frame encloses a painting or photo. It's more aesthetically pleasing, imo.

I wrap my hand around the 5 often.

Well I suppose if you hold the phone with your fingers on the screen you may get accidental touches. I don't hold my phone with my thumbs on the edges like I do the iPad. A picture frame is for aesthetics, no doubt. All I said was I expected a company with Apple's reputation to be able to put the largest screen in the smallest case. IMO, that is innovating, doing something that no one else has done or doing it better than it has been done. Get rid of the physical home button, decrease the bezels all the way around and you have a significantly smaller phone. The 4.7" would be very close to the size of the 5S. Now that would be really Impressive.

I sense a degree of sarcasm?

Yes you do! :D

why are some of you still doubting the authenticity of these leaked iPhone 6's?

This image says it all, folks:

mcdphj.jpg

Dang, I missed the keynote ! It's not the first time it happens !

What I want to know is ... does the 4.7 have the optical stabilizer. That feature alone could determine which model I get. I am leaning towards the 4.7 only if it has the optical stabilizer.

WHAt IV'E NOTICED!

I have noticed that the video showing the alleged Iphone 6 being unlocked has some flaws in it.
These are

1) the time is back to front
2) when the keypad is bought up, the numbers are back to front
3) the status bar is back to front, i.e the battery symbol is on the left and the network signal strength is on the right
4) the apple logo on the back is back to front
5) the camera and sensor on the front are back to front as well
6) the buttons on the left(volume, mute) are on the right and the power button is now on the left.

I think that either this is a fake that while well put together has some basic flaws in it that would fail to convince anyone who looks at it properly. Or it is real and the user was holding it in front of a mirror and just failed to capture the camera they were using to film it on.

So I think that as far as I can see, this could be the real deal as I can not see anything (yet) that lends me to see it as a fake.
I am still looking though and will get back to you if I notice anything

looks real to me

looks real to me too, this is iphone6 guys. thanks apple. :apple:
thank you Tim Cock.

No. The gradients in 7.1 and later are more subtle in the App store, mail and Safari icons.

The first picture shows Safari in iOS 7.0 (the same as this leak).
The second one is iOS 7.1 and later, including iOS 8.0.

EDIT: for some reason the iOS 7.0 picture won't load. But the one you see in this post is how it should be.

You're confusing the 7.1 color change with the 7.0 beta color change.

Chinese site cnBeta highlights a series of photos posted by Weibo user zzray showing what is claimed to be an official, functional, and activated iPhone 6. While the authenticity of the device can not be confirmed, it does have some interesting characteristics worth noting.

First, the overall design looks very polished and in line with previous iPhone 6 leaks. The tapered edges of the front glass can be clearly seen, and the round dual-LED True Tone generally missing in clones is present. The body also shows a recessed cavity for the volume buttons, as has been seen recently on a shell believed to be legitimate but also generally missing from clones.

Photos of the home screen reveal a different icon for Passbook, adding a fourth horizontal stripe to the current stripes showing an airplane, a movie camera, and a coffee cup. This new red stripe appears to include an image of a credit card, likely indicating support for mobile payments through Passbook.

The home screen layout includes the possibility of a sixth row of icons (in addition to the dock at the bottom), one more than on 4-inch iPhones. The horizontal layout remains at four icons, with simply a bit more separation between the icons. Icons appear to be the same size on both the iPhone 6 and iPhone 5s, supporting the idea of a 1334 x 750 resolution.

The user has also posted a brief video showing the device being unlocked with Touch ID. Photos also show the App Store, as well as the About screen in the Settings app showing a 64 GB model running iOS 8.0 build 12A365, being accessed on the device.

While there is certainly a chance the device could be a fake or clone, there appear to be no immediate indications from the photos giving it away as fake.

Notice the difference in the gradients on the icons though. The Mail/Safari icons use the more dramatic cyan/blue gradient present in beta versions of iOS. And the green icons are dramatically more green as was seen until 7.1.

I guess it depends a lot on your habits, or perhaps you are just "weight challenged" or wearing huge baggy pants all the time, but I think this criticism is absolutely reasonable. I often wear "regular fit" jeans (Levi's 505 or similar), and the 5S is already a tight fit in the front pocket when sitting down due to its length. And the 6 looks like it's at least 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch longer. And no, I don't want to take out my phone every time I sit down, or lug around a bag everywhere I go. I have my phone with me all the time, and portability is much more important to me than a slightly bigger screen. If this thing is really as big as it looks in the picture, I'll have to skip it or perhaps switch to another manufacturer (although I would hate to lose iOS). :(

I'm not 'weight challenged'. Currently wearing a pair of Levi's myself (skinny cut - my preferred style) and honestly can't see a problem with a 4.7'' screen.

looks real to me. i kinda wish it was surprise when it's announced, but oh well

If anyone really wanted to be surprised they would have to stop reading all tech forums for most of the year, especially ones that are primarily Apple exclusive. There are rumors and leaks for many months, even a year or more before the product releases.

This is definitely a fake one.

This is what I get from Taobao, the Chinese eBay. Cost me $70.

Exactly the same with the "leaked" one.

Look carefully at the flash light, too damn fake.

Actually it's not the same, the "iPhone" is in different font.

Also, what's wrong with the flashlight?

Something else

I just watched the video again and I noticed that at about 4 seconds in, if you pause the video you can see in the reflection of the Iphone's screen a reflection of both the Iphone itself and the person.
This would be credible with the user filming in front of a mirror.
If not then they have gone to great lengths to fool people by adding very convincing reflections that do not appear to deviate from how such reflections would behave in the mirror.

I think this is highly credible and would say is about 90% likely to be real.
If so it does not seem so ugly all of a sudden and may turn out to be quite good looking and maybe even good to use

You're confusing the 7.1 color change with the 7.0 beta color change.

Whatever... This still doesn't explain why iOS 8 on this phone has those old gradients (from iOS 7 beta) and not new, more subtle ones (from iOS 7.1 and 8 beta)

I think the chances of this being fake are probs around 1%.

I thought this was real at first, but I'm pretty sure it isn't now.

Ugly but a case will hide everything...what's up with the lack of icons in the last (bottom-most) row? That's odd...prolly a mock up but looks plenty big as is...no need for the 5.5" model (for me).

Unless I'm missing something, thats how things are portrayed via mirror.. look at your iPhone screen via photo booth on mac..
