Sooo...no positives from any of this ubiquitous technology then? I mean, I get what you are saying with the whole "peace, love and understanding" angle but let's not ignore or trivialize the upside.

The Verge actually had a nice piece today about "Fanboys" and their ilk. Vehement "Defenders of the Faith" give us clues to inadequacies in their personal lives, no doubt...but let's be honest: in highly-developed countries, there really isn't much left in the day-to-day life of folks that have achieved even a modicum of success and stability to "fight" passionately about.

It only bothers me when rationality *completely* goes out of the picture and folks start defending *opinions* as facts, Hopes and Dreams™ as reality.

In our little 'scene' there is a whole other level of this because apparently for some, the personal investment in Apple products defines not just *what* they own but *who* they are/aspire to be...the most vocal "Apple-hating Apple Lovers" have the *worst* self-image problems I've seen on forums like this.

They spend so much time arguing their position and choices *to others* that they *neeeeeedddd* Apple to "do the right thing" (in their assessment) or how will they ever face the world?

So, I hear ya...but you have to look at it with a kind of pity, instead of frustration because some people are "fighting". They do so because they must.

Well, I'd be more worried about the people who seemingly hate apple (or its success) and spend all day bitching in these forums. That's WOULD say something about them, and it does.

You'd expect people who love a product to spend some time discussing and having an emotional response to Apple being attacked. Because, having bought it and used it extensively; attacking the product is a bit like attacking them : a perfectly natural response.

But, what is in it for the people who troll forums of products they don't own, or supposedly owned 5 years ago (before they went all to crap (sic)).

There are people like that in any forum on any subject, the TV series, band, product, director has gone to hell in the last X year. This happens usually 1-2 years after the initial product, show. band started.

The fact that these people use the word sheep as a putdown is ironic to the extreme.

Apple is long overdue with its payments strategy. Considering the captive market they have with iTunes users credit card info, this will be an easy project for them to succeed at. The convenience alone will drive it.

guys, I was a firm believer of the leak but then i decided to check the foxconn schematics of the iphone 6, and the bands at the back do not add up. See how the band continues/wraps from the side to the top, the band just does not cut and end at the edge, it wraps around to the top and bottom half, headphone jack included. On the "leak" version, just like the goophone, the band acts like a window and cuts and ends on the side. I hope I could make some sense? here is what I mean.

I think the bands wont look as terrible, if implemented as per the schematics.

EDIT: Sorry posted in the wrong thread!

You keep saying this, but have no real proof.

I don't necessarily believe it's real, but, you need to have more proof than just saying "fake."

Huh! That's not how logic works. The person who claims something must prove it without a doubt. There's plenty of discussion on here about why many think this one is fake. Other similar leaks like the Russia Volks leak, doesn't look fake and the phone is similar (but not the same) with a better finish. So, this has nothing to do with people doubting the design, I mainly doubt the finish.

Cue "I'll stick to iPhone 5s as the new sizes too big for me" complaints made in the last few months but now I changed my mind... LOL

When Apple says open your wallet, you open your wallet!

Which is by far the best material for a handheld radio device. Probably also the reason why so many carriers used it as a reference phone for testing their coverage.

It's the poorest conductor of heat and doesn't protect internals from impacts.

Hardly, and the rounded edges made it a pleasure to hold.

Rounded edges or not, it's 12.1mm thick and 135g. It's obese.

Obviously when two dissimilar materials meet, there will be a seam. The point is (well, was) that the curve continues "seamlessly" as swiping from the outside was a big point in the UI.

The N9's glass screen is no where close to being seamless. In fact, the glass screen is a bulge.

...I've reach all of these milestones you assume he has not. My assessment is that you are an idiot, do not understand engineering as much as you profess/pretend to and have a malformed ego.

It isn't Apple's job, nor in Apple's best interest, to make a beautiful phone..."like an old Leica camera" (oh boy) that doesn't actually work correctly as a telephone...its core functional purpose. They already went down that path and paid dearly for it in bad press and unprecedented numbers of returns.

Why don't we do this: Let's wait until the first Q after the thing goes on sale, and see what the numbers say, hmm?

Or are you one of these people that feel that Apple won't make "your phone" because people keep buying the ones they *actually* make? :)

well you sound irritated and stupid at the same time,I didn't even read the whole nonesense.:D so that isheep term they say was true after all..

What I don't get with you...

...is *why* you keep using the grin emoticon. You haven't had a single salient argument whatsoever.

I just don't get why people *care* if folks like what they do or not. It should in no way impact their personal enjoyment.

I have people ask me *all the time* "how" I can have a 5S, iPads, N5 and N7...as if it is some sort of either/or thing. My response is generally "how can you not"?

To me, there is nothing more pathetic than someone with a critique of a platform they've never used, or have not personally experienced the State of the Art that represents it.

I suppose since racial bigotry is out of fashion, platform bigotry has emerged to fill its place in ways unseen in the last century...and there was some pretty nasty stuff (tho tame by today's metrics) "back in the day"...the Commodore vs Atari flamewars seem to be the closest progenitor of today's style as most of the folks involved were fairly young/immature. The *nix flaming paled in comparison...but this stuff today is just beyond reason.

When Apple ships the iPhone 6 will i buy it? You bet! When Google points to whatever their next thing is and says "this is our platform showcase" will i pick it up? Without hesitation.

I like to know what I'm talking about, beyond the filters of Android Police and Gruber/Dalrymple.

When I say that a platform has a weakness, i can *show you where it is*. if you can't do this...who are you to judge what someone else is carrying in their hands and checking tweeting from?

You know what I mean?

*why*?

Is there *overwhelming* data to support this position? The thing about all of the stuff that folks feel "is the real deal" is that not a single one of them have been *operational*.

This isn't to say that they could not be, but it is a compelling argument against...the reason folks hit the wall of resistance seems to be "the bezels...THE BEZELS...THE HORROR....(my imaginary) Apple wouldn't EVER..."...

At which point, we have to look to the historical evidence where, time and time again, people who have held this position have been proven wrong when the device ships.

It is, in the 21st century, *trivial* with people with slightly-above-average means to knock together a non-functioning knock off that represents the Hopes and Dreams™ of a target audience.

When folks say "AH! THEY DIDN'T OPEN PASSBOOK! FAKE"...the retort is "um, the thing you seem to believe is 'the thing' wasn't even operational...

And that *Russian* one that everyone uses as corroborating evidence? Did you notice the part when the dude goes to plug it in to the machine and iTunes is running, this is when they choose to cut the video?

BUT, you see, if your Hopes and Dreams™ lie in the direction of that one, this is easy to dismiss/rationalize away, but a 7+ minute video of an operational device, plus supplemental stuff by the same dude, is summarily dismissed.

*WHY* are you (all) so convinced that this ain't the One?

Show your work :)

Yes, but most people don't pick up an iPad Air with one hand, like you do with phones. Not unless you are Shaq or something.

True, but I get my fingers all over the edges of the iPad many times. And to be honest smaller screens are easier, I always pick my Gs5 by holding it at the edges, and if I leave it on the table for several seconds the screen goes OFF anyway.

It's the poorest conductor of heat and doesn't protect internals from impacts.

Neither of which really matter. I have a desktop computer for number crunching and 3D-rendering, I don't need to do that on my phone.

And as you can witness from the vast amount of polycarbonate devices out on the market, it really is a complete non-issue.

Rounded edges or not, it's 12.1mm thick and 135g. It's obese.

Obese or not, no other device (Lumia 800 not included, obviously) comes even close to being so comfortable to hold in your hand. The iPhone 5C comes close, as did the 3GS.

In fact, the glass screen is a bulge.

No ****, Sherlock? That is the whole point with the design. It is precisely the continuous curve that makes interacting with the Swipe UI so pleasurable.

If you wanted to exaggerate, you should've used something smaller than a grain... like an atom of salt. What you said implies that nobody should be skeptical at all. Your logic doesn't make the phrase you used more accurate.

Anyway it's not that important, just a pet peeve... akin to "I could care less."

Obviously we have different interpretations of what the magnitude of the salt (grain or otherwise) represents. Personally I think my hyperbole represented my point perfectly enough.

People want a larger iPhone. Since when did "larger" mean "longer"? I want BOTH dimensions to be larger so the icons and content are magnified. There are already enough rows of icons; that's clearly not the issue. This is sadly where the thieves at Scamsung have done a better job than Apple. IF the pictures are true...

The phone is wider, as well, not just longer.

The S5 throttles it's CPU while the HTC One M8 does not.

I've held an N9. It's as comfortable as holding a potato. Big round and heavy.

No ****, Sherlock? That is the whole point with the design. It is precisely the continuous curve that makes interacting with the Swipe UI so pleasurable.

The point is it's no where close to Apple's manufacturing prowess. The N9's build can't compete with the iPhone 4, let alone the iPhone 6.

The screen is still 16:9 aspect ratio.
