few days ago I sold iPad 2 16GB wifi only, black for $175 on Craigslist - mint condition, all accessories and box included.

I'm actually thinking there's something to this! I had my air 2 with a Smart Cover and apple wireless keyboard included. After a week not a single offer. Took the extra stuff off (this was before I dropped the price) and got a few emails. It sounds crazy...but a part of me thinks people see that extra stuff and it makes the iPad feel like more someone else's property whereas just the iPad by itself feels like...well. An iPad. One where you would have to use more of your imagination to think about someone having owned it

You are really grasping at straws with this idea that having a few add ons make one feel like someone else's property. Most people if they aren't interested in the add on will simple discard them, because they are buying the main item. The add ons in some cases are value added and in other cases worthless. However, this idea that it someone impacts one decision to buy or not. I've sold many items with add ons. I realize because you remove the add on and then got an offer that it makes you think that, but there is really no correlation.

I sell on eBay quite a bit and am always looking at the market of iPhones and iPads etc. I see so many people that will add 2 or 3 cases to the sale and think it adds a ton of value. Sorry, but only i want to pick out my own iPhone case...i won't be using the previous owners. So it's completely worthless to me. But so many people think it adds so much value that they raise the price above market and then no one is interested at all. This one is actually a decently high price....

but basically the seller just wants to get rid of his junk or thinks the cheap cases add value. i'm immediately turned off buy the auction and won't even waste my time bidding. It all comes down to the right place at the right time though.

The key to add on if you decide to include them is that you can't add in actual cost to the device for them. So, you are correct if you think you can add a case or two and also recoup some of the cost of those.

Also just because add ons turn you off, doesn't mean it does others. We could go back and forth from now till the end of the year with examples that it plays both ways. In a recent iPad Mini 2 sale I did throw in a leather case and the guy that purchased my device asked more questions about that leather case than he did the iPad. His last remarks to me was GREAT now I don't have to try to figure out what case I am going to get. So, add ons have value for some and maybe a turn off for others. Sellers should do it the way they want. I've never not sold an item because I threw in a case or a screen protector. It's like garage sales, one mans junk is another mans treasure! There is no exact science to this!

I agree to an extent.

If the accessory is a high end/quality brand name(Hermes,LV,Gucci) accessory or actually adds functionality(high quality brand name Bluetooth keyboard, life case, high end phone lenses) then maybe you can add argument that it actually adds value.

That being said if the accessories are really that valuable you could probably sell them seperately and make some of your money back.

I agree and in my case and I would assume in many others. I'd rather give it to the next fellow than to have to deal with trying to sell it for a few bucks! I am also specifically speaking about cases and screen protectors as I've never offered anything else with items that I've sold. Value is always in the eye of the beholder! In addition to the guy that loved my leather case, I've had other tell me not to bother sending the case they already had one they wanted. So, I just don't send it. So, my point is that I just don't buy that rather you add a case or screen protector or not really impacts the sell one way or the other. Interesting topic though! :)

I ran my Air 2, 64 GB model for weeks on CL at $500 with case and glass screen protector and never got a bite, was surprised also like the OP as most of my Apple stuff sold in weeks. I needed to sell a Beats Pill 2 also to help fund the Pro but neither sold and I was offering the Beats at 1/2 price. I finally received a real offer for $450 but with the beats not selling I just didn't take the $450.

Would it be a waste of time to list the Beats Pill here for $100 like new box included or is that to much now days?

The Bluetooth speaker category is pretty saturated with the pill not really offering anything unique when compared to what JBL and UE has put out in the same price range. Plus beats, JBL, UE and Bose have all put out newer/updated versions of their already "quality" Bluetooth speakers.

That being said I think $100 is a pretty solid price.

Oh yeah the knock market for beats products is pretty scary and hard to tell what's actually authentic. Not sure if that would affect the resell process.

I just purchased an iPad Air 2 64GB with LTE for $400 through Swappa. Seller claimed that it was in near mint condition. Guess we'll see when it comes. I'm surprised at how close the prices are for just the wifi version and then for LTE. Seems like you pay a high premium for the LTE, but it doesn't command a marginal difference in selling price when it comes down to it, because for my case and some others it was cheaper to get one with LTE than wifi only. I guess it all depends on the seller as well.

Got lucky today and found a 128gb iPad Air 2 basically brand new on Craigslist for $360.

Also have an iPad Air 1 on sale in the marketplace of this forum....

the older cycle seemed to hold their value better. i have an ipad mini 2 64g cellular and im in the weird spot where in 2 years i could now get about $300 maaaaaybe. less than half what i paid. in the past ive been able to knock 20-25% off the last model and include accessories and it would be picked up in no time

Nope, LTE doesn't add much value and actually neither does extra storage. Th OPs device is 128gb which is great but most buyers will not realize the extra cost is valid and feel it's too expensive.

I'm going to assume that's the WiFi version and not the Cellular version... because if it's a Cellular 128gb iPad Air 2 "mint condition" that's a really good price.

Yeah not LTE but still way below market value

A year ago, I tried selling my 128GB iPad Mini 2 LTE on Craigslist. All I got were offers for around $500 and below. The iPad was only 1 year old then. I ended up just keeping it rather then letting it go for such a low price.

Just sold another iPad Mini 2 32GB for $275, plus $20 shipping on Ebay! $250 seems to be the average price most are selling for, so I am pleased! I bought half dozen of these when they first came out for staff to use. So, I am selling them off now. All of them have been in cases and screen protected since they day they were put into use. Pretty much almost perfect condition. Some are more used than others!

Makes sense. The reason why people are looking in places like eBay and CraigsList in the first place is because of the promise of a lower price.

You are correct. Although, I do feel a properly worded ad with great pictures can help an up sell of a device. There are people who can be convinced.

I was charging $520 for a wifi space grey iPad Air 2 128 gb and including a Smart Cover and Apple wireless keyboard. I thought that was reasonable in comparison to other listings. What do you think?

The problem is that most people buying an iPad on Craigslist don't care that you spent $200 more on the 128GB model, they just want an iPad. I'd drop off the wireless keyboard (Sell it separately for $40-50 or something) and reduce the price. Given black friday just happened and the Air 2 base model was selling new around $399 you have to consider that the "perceived price" of the iPad has gone down.

I have a mint condition ipad air 32gb wifi on sale on CL for about $320. Guys was going to buy it but backed out because he'd rather pay $450(?) for a brand new one?

Selling on craigslist is an interesting experience.
