Selling your electronics to a company like GameStop is basically willfully enabled theft. You'd probably get more just sending it to eBay for their valet service.
Selling anything to Gamestop is bad.

And honestly its not even Gamestop's fault. If you do it, you seriously need to get checked out. Maybe some are rich and don't care they are getting ripped off, but then you wouldn't even need to trade in your old devices.

RIP those people. I hope one day they realize you can literally get like 10x amount anywhere else.

Generally speaking, trade-in values offered by companies are generally pretty poor, but if one is alert there are some decent offers to be had at certain times of the year on certain items. On a few occasions I've been able to trade some gadgets in @ Best Buy and Gamestop for just about the price that I originally paid for them. (It helps to jump on a bargain when buying the item in the first place.)

Time and convenience have value for some people. The experiences of people selling their iPads in this thread alone show that there is a hidden cost to private sales.

As for the "rich" not caring about getting ripped off, that is the furthest from the truth. A great way to increase one's wealth is by being wise with time AND money. That often goes contrary to conventional wisdom, which is a reason why most people don't increase their wealth.

If one spends sufficient time to do the research you'll find that iPad resale isn't as boyant as iPhones both in price and demand.

Then there's the rose colored glasses worn by the devotees that swear used iPhone demand and value is as robust as it once was... It's Not.

For the independent thinker, those of us who buy Apple products to fill a need and not just be a toy, we've already enjoyed the value and know that big resale values are fantasy :D

Makes sense. The reason why people are looking in places like eBay and CraigsList in the first place is because of the promise of a lower price.
This is so true. I got my mint Verizon iPhone 6 128gb on CL for $420. Hell of a deal.

I have a mint condition ipad air 32gb wifi on sale on CL for about $320. Guys was going to buy it but backed out because he'd rather pay $450(?) for a brand new one?

Selling on craigslist is an interesting experience.
6 months ago I got a 16gb lte iPad Air mint off swappa for $290. $320 is pretty high for wifi only.

Best Buy is now offering a site-wide discount on iPads. So you can get up to $125 off a brand new iPad Air 2. If you combine that with e.g. 22% cash back from a Discover card, you'll find that it's hard to sell an iPad at this time because deal hunters will try to get something new at a very good price.
