Fast charging as well as Wireless charging are offered by Apple as a added convenience. Unfortunately it is not a necessity and therefore Apple will not supply fast chargers or wireless charging pads.
I remember reading something Apple put out to that affect
I had to purchase a fast charger so I would have liked to get it for free too
Unfortunately APPLE is a ‘for profit’ company and maintains high margins and no freebies

For clarity im not a shareholder or an Apple employee and I’m not living in the past. I get your point that you want a fast charger but why keep banging on about it ? ..... reality is I’m not really that bothered but that doesn’t mean I’m living in the past. Just because you want one does not mean everyone does ! I very happily charge my phone overnight. My BMW comes with a super quick engine, sport gearbox and paddle shift on the steering wheel .... doesn’t mean that BMW should supply me with racing overalls, gloves and a helmet so I can drive like a racing driver just because I paid $100,000 for a car ! Where do you draw the line ?

Like I said before if you don’t like it you have a choice not to add to the bank balance of Apple ...... add to someone else’s who is probably screwing you equally well but you don’t know how !

This is where it's just so bizarre?

You ask me why i, or others keep combating people like yourself with what's offered with the phone. Why do you keep going at it with us that we DONT DESERVE A SIMPLE CHARGER?
people as yourself like to use Porsche, now BMW, etc. sorry we are not talking luxury vehicles here. It's a phone, and sorry, a charger that's going to cost pennies should have been on board.

You're basically saying everyone charges their phone overnight with your tone. Understand, not everyone uses their phone as you do. During the day some people need to be filled up way quicker than 3 hours or so.

keeping on about it? I mean yes of course I will battle on about it. I'm the one who created the actual thread, and there's a ton who feel the same as i do...the question is why are you still here than? You made your point, said nahh, you, we, I don't need nor deserve this fast charger thing and that's a wrap. You said what you feel, i and many more feel differently and will keep on feeling as we do, and continue saying as we feel.

They could have included an iPad charger instead of the lousy 5V brick.

Box size and shipment cost + opportunity lost

Box size- the size of the box for the iPhone X can only accomodate the 5W charger, anything bigger (box) would mean they can ship less iPhones per pallette = additional shipment costs.

Opportunity lost- lost on sales of the accessory market worth around $5bn on USBC and 29W charger ALONE.

Now, why would Apple go above and beyond what’s required when you buy a phone?

If they figure out how to put 10W charging in a 5W brick, then maybe we could talk. For now, the miniature charger is handy and that’s helping Apple’s bottom line.

Lol at the Apple fanboy morons who defend Apple on this, saying the chargers make them money......what like they aren’t making enough profit on the £1000 phone??? And when all their competitors do bundle it in. It’s a disgrace on a £1000 item and that’s the truth

It’s not about defense per se. it’s business logic, plain and simple. They are making enough money and they want to make some more. Simple greed ain’t it?

Well yes, but anyone who defends simple greed is an idiot
[doublepost=1510486253][/doublepost]I could almost understand the simple business logic argument if other companies were doing the same but they aren’t. Apple have got to the stage of ripping off their fan base and it’s blatant now. £1150 phone, not even a fast charger. You couldn’t make it up

I have those DAC's and they have always worked perfectly fine with my Android devices. I even use Smsl m8 with my Android devices, with USB-A AND USB-C. This is with Nexus 6 and Pixel XL.

As matter a fact, it seems more devices are plug and play compatible with Android than iPhones. This works with Android phones and USB compliant devices, as well as the google home and over 1000 compatible devices as well.

Thanks for the reply. You will find that there is a serious problem when combining the Oppo with 'some' Android devices. As you know the Oppo has the capacity to be utilised as a charger. What happens is rather than the Oppo charge the Mobile the mobile charges the Oppo, same with the Teac. This is well documented and Oppo Europe are well aware of this problem and have still done zero to rectify it with the exception to stock the correct connection cable that they sell at a hideous price plus charge an even more hideous P+P charge to sell as an after sale.
Many Oppo-Android users have not been aware of this phenomena until learning about it on a forum. They thought their rapid mobile phone battery drain was normal when in fact the phone is charging the Oppo? Perhaps you could check this out on your system? Perhaps, by luck or otherwise, you happen to have the correct cable?

Regardless of that the Oppo was designed primarily to work with Apple products and its the Apple logos that show in its advertising and boxing and only in small print does it make some reference to Android and PC so I cannot complain.

BTW and inline with the very subject of this thread, one of the sales pitches of the Oppo is its fast charging ability and even though it only costs a quarter of a flagship iPhone guess what? The Oppo ships with a fast charging brick!

You must then know that I am one of them.

Have a great weekend.

Naughty naughty, Play nicely. You know full well you are not an Apple shareholder. o_O One doesn't need to be a clinical psychologist to see what you are doing by making that sort of comment. You will get sent to bed with no supper if you play like that!

Why do you need to insult those who are loyal Apple clients? I may agree with the content of your post but I certainly disagree with the way you get personal and insulting. You do yourself nor your 'cause' any good by writing in such a confrontational fashion. IF you want to be taken seriously you need to state your case and debate it in a palatable fashion and not upset those you hope to debate with? Just a thought.

In general.

I think it always wise to think of a forum as being a guest in some one else's home. Debate ones point but never insult the host or his other guests. Soon as that point is reached one has lost the argument regardless of it's merits.

Be friendly! It's free. (Unlike the fast charger we are debating;):))

You say 'Be Friendly' but damn those truth bombs hurt!!

I think your missing the point that people make about luxury cars ..... just because you pay top dollar for a car doesn’t mean it includes everything you or I might expect, Luxury car makers make money by selling options and packages, none of those options are necessary to drive the car though. Many of those options are often software related and cost virtually zero to the manufacturers but the buyer still pays a lot ! They are often priced because of desirability or popularity in certain markets. The iPhone X is a luxury phone at the top end of the market but like the car it doesn’t come with everything you or I might expect. A fast charger isn’t necessary to use the phone.

No I’m not saying that at all...... that’s what I do.

And yet here we are. Still using that $1150 device. Because at the end of the day, we can only bitch about Apple's greed.

Get over it.

Opportunity cost is minimal, only a few percentage of X users will buy a charger, and only a fraction of these will buy the overpriced Apple’s one when there’s plenty of better, cheaper usb c chargers on the market.

On the flip side, 100% of iPhone X buyers will have an inferior experience because Apple decided to save something like 5 dollars tops in cost of materials.

As I said, I believe these are short sighted business decision, yes you are making a tiny fraction more money, but hell yes you are pissing customers like me who don’t don’t complain for 1300 eur devices, but have now zero loyalty/feelings/empathy for the company.

I think that has more long term value than a Fast charger at cost.

And to everybody making silly comparison with automotive industry and the likes, please realize that virtually every other smartphone on the market comes with a fast charger, you know, so that buyers can actually benefit from Fast charging, which is not meant to be a “bonus” but it’s a basic a feature for the rest of the world.

I checked like three different videos for charging speeds and iPhones are slow no matter what. Its trickle charge also takes ages.

My G5/V20 has a lower number (75 min) than how much Apple charges for a fast charger ($85)? A fast charger that still takes nearly 120 min to finish?

You know how Apple could have justified the X's $1000+ price tag? It should have included AirPods. But no. $85 for a fast charger while LG, Samsung, Google, and others pack it in for free.

I don't mind paying premium but only if premium meant being the best. But the X is hardly the best at anything especially fast charging. My Moto E charges in 2 hrs without a fast charger.

With respect you know nothing about business and you are plucking statistics and pricing out of your arse .....

With all due respect i actually run a business and i have 40+ employees on my payroll. I am also invested in other 3 businesses. Apple is an exceptional company, but it does make mistakes just like everybody else. And this is a -small- mistake.

It's not that hard to understand: if someone is techie enough to understand and desire a fast charger, then he is techie enough not to buy the Apple one because there are a zillion of better and cheaper options around.

The average Joe will either A) don't even know what is "fast charging", or B) think that his iPhone is fast charging with the stock charger.

It seems fine to me. It didn’t come with the original boxes, but it did come in the plastic. It has all the regulations printed on the adapter (Apple logo, product name, etc). I purchased because someone else on these forums had mentioned it. Plus, he seems to have all positive reviews lol.
I actually went ahead and bought this off the link you shared only to realize upon arrival that the 2M cord isn’t a Lightning to USB-C charging cord. Instead, it’s just the regular USB-C (on both ends) cord. Not quite what I need to fast-charge my iPhone. Even if I keep this $50 package I still need to fork out another $35 for the actual cord that I still need.

You might want to edit your post so others don’t make the same mistake that I did. Granted, it’s my fault since nowhere in the seller’s ad it says it’s a Lightning cord but since this is a thread about charging the iPhone X, it was safe to assume that the cord you mentioned was the one required for charging an iPhone.

I agree, I would have liked Apple to include AirPods and a wireless charging pad. But like my analogy, if you want things in your Porsche that are pretty much common now like cruisecontrol or entertainment system or anything, you'll have to pay for that on top of the base price.

Don't get me wrong, I think Apple is getting worse and worse due to being too popular. This is the Apple of Cook now and it will never be the same (normal and plus models where the plus models have more RAM and a better camera which is ridiculous). It's more and more about maximising profits and the products are keeping the status quo. Im still buying Apple because for me they still make the best devices that fit my need, but im dreading the day Apple will face real competition.

Apple is a brand. They’re doing a good job promoting themselves as a brand. Whether or not their devices are good or not is irrelevant to most of the population and average Joe’s. Having an iPhone makes you look good. Makes you top of the food chain.

In the past they make devices that just worked and worked well. Apple is facing real competition now just look at the X. Doesn’t matter that Apple perfected the 6/7/8 per se. Now we have a device ‘like everyone else’ with its edge to edge larger OLED display etc.

For me I stuck with the 8. Had an X returned it. The 6/7/8 just work with almost perfection and fluidity. Outdated? The hardware possibly but that’s an individual preference. For me it’s old school design hardware wise but under the hood packs some power.

Also iOS 11 is the worst update ever. Why would Apple make a release without perfecting the OS?

I think no one can go wrong this time around. The 8 is a perfected device like no other. The X is an all new wind in Apple. I have an X and it's been a really good device. I do think its a little bit too big, I can't go one handed in the bus when standing anymore. I could with my 5s. But there are other advantages a bigger screen brings. I'd like an X with a bit smaller screen :D

I have no trouble with iOS 11 yet, can you list some?

That’s the main reason I returned the X believe It or not. Like you a little too big and can’t use it one handed comfortably and securely. I’m mostly in situations I need to use one handed. Believe me I tried and wanted it to work. It’s a fantastic device. I love you the 6/7/8 footprint for my needs.

In general I find iOS laggy. I’ve seen others say this too. Not as smooth as past updates. But fortunately can be fixed eventually.

Tim cooks apple..... no no no ..... you WILL give him more money ;)

I agree with you, for this price hike, especially outside US, they could have sweetened the deal this time round.

What gets me is they include the lousy 5V charger which is like an insult. At least include an iPad charger which chargers faster than the 5V.

Agreed. Though yet again it's upsell. I've got a box of the useless 5V, all my chargers are iPad
