I've been using the iPad charger since my iPhone 5. charges it a lot faster than the 5w brick. my iP5, iP6, wife's iP5s, her iP6 and my iPx all have their 5w brick still in the box. worthless to me as we have a house full of Anker 24W, iPad 10w & 12w bricks along with TOPGREENER USB charger outlet in our house. even our nightstands by our bed with built in USB receiver can charge our iPhone faster than that obsolete 5w brick. at the minimal, the iPad brick should be introduced as standard chargers for today's iPhones.

The iPad charger does charge faster but it will also degrade the battery over time. But the degradation isn’t noticeable.

I'm still baffled at Apple for not including a 12w adapter with iphone x. 12w adapter is basically fast charging for your iPhone.

I love when people cry that premium brands don't include assessories to make their price more competitive. Have you seen Porsche include floor mats for free or simple things like cruise control?

no.. but that's what you pay for it..
so in that regard, that's how much the loss would be.

No it’s not. that’s not how it works at all. The “loss” isn’t based on what the retail cost would be. That’s silly. They could “gift” the charger and build the cost into the phone so they lose nothing. But even more likely is they actually make a small margin on the charger and make u feel like ur getting it for free. I do t know how they’d do it, but one thing that I do know is that Apple wouldn’t lose 1 penny by including a quick charger.

So here we are a week after launch, and I will say...I'm keeping my iPhone X for more than a few reasons I won't get into here because that's not what this thread is about...It's about what Apple didn't give us when buying the X?

Why didn't we get a fast charger included when buying the iPhone X? For the amount of money these phones cost, a fast charger should have been included. Instead we get the same old boring wired headphones, and the same brick and cable we've seen for how many years now?

Samsung includes a fast charger with the S8, S8+ and the note, why in the world wouldn't Apple this time around?

Instead we get told...Hey this phone has wireless charging capabilities...So go spend $60 and enjoy letting your phone charge over night.

Whether I'm the norm, or not...I just bought the X, 4 Apple branded cases, 2 silicone & 2 leather, along with a wireless charger...lol! That's a pretty penny when all is said and done, the least apple could have thrown in to me and everyone else who's bought an X is a quick charger?

Why they didn't is crazy to me, since their main competition (best friends) are including it with their flagship phones.

Your move apple...I think putting out a press release that says anyone who's purchased an iPhone X and comes in with their receipt should be given a fast charger...will this happen? I doubted, but wishful thinking never hurt nobody.

New to this forum so need to tread with care. I have in the past month purchased the iPhone SE also last week the iPhone 8 plus (it was hell to obtain one regardless of colour?)
I also own and use as my daily mobile the Samsung Galaxy Note 8. With that in mind why did I purchase the iPhones?

I needed a source unit to be used along with the Oppo HA2-SE and the Teac HA50-SE. Neither of those portable DAC-Amp's behave nicely with Android smartphones using USB-C connectors.

Both DAC's, as are many other similar devices, designed to work with Apple products primarily. I bought the SE, Screen was too tiny for me (always wanted one though, love the design) so bought the 8+. Pleased to have done so. Both superb devices that I am proud to own.

For years I have avoided Apple because of their corporate behaviour (tax evasion etc) more than that the way they abuse thier very loyal customers. This is a typical example of such disrespectful behaviour. As you write one spends nearly 1300€ on the X or 950€ on the 8+ only to discover there is no fast charger in the box! Need to buy one AND the cable.

It truly ticks me off that a corporation the size and wealth of Apple screw their customers. In one form or another Apple have been doing this for some years and my 'guess' would be loyal Apple customers just either don't notice or don't care, either way Apple should be ashamed of such practices.
I use my Samsung wireless charger that came as a free gift with my Galaxy S8+ to charge my nice new iPhone 8+.

No but I expect them to include the basics like an engine, seats and a steering wheel! You are an Apple investors delight.

One of the major new advancements to the 8, 8-plus and 10 range is fast charging. The OP is correctly questioning why Apple didn't put the fast charger in the box. The difference in cost between the normal charger and the fast charger for Apple at source is negligible BUT Apple totally depend on loyal, honest, decent customers like you to defend such policies and screw them even though you don't recognise you are being screwed, its a fantastic business model!

Don't set me of on the 64GB or 256GB with zero in between. The business psychologists employed by Apple must earn a fortune! 720 screen in the 8? I would bet you the industry leading boxing all Apple devices come in cost more than the power brick!

Apple produce some truly incredible devices also software. They also knowingly prey on their customer loyalty base.

BTW This is only my second time purchasing a flagship Apple iPhone and I didn't know the 8+ didn't come with the appropriate power brick. ALL Samsung and other fast charging flagship smart phones include the appropriate power brick in the box.

Turning this on its head. WHY didn't Apple include the fast charging brick? Because they know customers will go buy one. Brilliant business psychology. I have to admire their open disrespect for their customers. Me included.

Wondering how bad on the battery using a more powerful charger will be in the long run?

That's another debate I have never seen a satisfactory answer to. Some say that wireless charging shortens battery life faster than direct cable fast charging.
There is so much misinformation on the subject of battery technology its a book without an end! Heat appears the number one enemy of present day batteries. Second to that is not charging the battery past 90% and not letting it drain below 20% Even for those figures I have seen 80%-40%!

In today’s entitlement world, why did Apple not toss in some AirPods, too!

No other smartphones come with wireless headphones.

Apple's biggest competitor does include a fast charger so complaining about it is a valid complaint.

Why do you hate it when people complain about Apple?

Im using my fast charger brick from my note 5 with my lightening cord that came with the 8 plus and it is fast charged from 26% to 100% in just under 2 hours.

As a comparison, Samsung s8+ can be fast charged to full in 1hr 30min.

I’m not defending Apple but we all have a choice ...... it’s plain for all to see which charger is included it’s not as though they are misleading anyone. .... if you don’t like it vote with your feet and don’t buy the phone ..... go and buy a phone that does include one.

Yea I got floor mats when I bought my Cayenne, and wow I also got cruise control!

Do you hear yourself?
Like a few others, who call a fast charger a luxury...why in the world do you feel the need to defend a company like Apple for just doing what is not right?

Am I saying we should have gotten Free cases? Free wireless earphones? Or Free screen protectors, etc?

No I'm saying we should have gotten a fast charger instead of a brick and cable we've seen for almost a decade already with our phones. If you're an X user your included in the (we) so I don't get what the defensive behavior is all about? Do you like being told...sorry, if you want a fast chager go buy it? Something that costs Apple pennies to manufacture.

Think about what your saying, lol and what your comparing a fast chager to.

X doesn't seem to charge all that fast in the first place if using a fast charger. The X has nearly identical battery capacity as LG G5. My G5 goes from 0% to 100% with fast charging in 1 hr and 15 min. Only ten minutes slower than the V10. X's capacity is smaller than Note8 and still charges slower.

Main X's hardware drawbacks -
Expensive to repair thanks to rear glass attached to the entire shell
Front camera is poorer than 7
Charges the slowest among flagships, slower than Pixels which aren't fast either

Don't mind Face ID, the notch, or blue reflection. The back is ugly though.

Samsung is using a battery chemistry starting from the S8 series that degrades much slower after many cycles.

If these phones have a stalemate with battery life thanks to faster SoCs and more resolution to push, then I hope for 1 min charging to 100%. If we can't get a week long off one battery charge, I want fast charging that's shorter than a commercial and slower degradation on batteries to happen.

Thank GAWD for removable batteries. I'm a forward thinker so microSD slot and removable batteries are things I prefer having. Most phone users are short-sighted and don't mind being a slave to planned obsolescence. As long as it's new.

Yes your so right...we will vote with our feet, how dumb we've been...silly us!

Apple-Hey you, yes you...
You have to start paying to take pictures with your new iPhone 15!

You- Really? Ok! Makes sense.

Us- WHATTTTTTTTTTTT!

So many sound so brain washed by the fact of just because Apple thinks it's ok, it is...no matter what it entails.

Even though I already have one from Apple, I ordered another from your link. I hope it is legit Apple OEM.

I think it is funny that you are defending Apple for not including a fast charger and you turn around and have to worry about buying chargers that might be knock offs cause you are too cheap to buy from Apple store.

They skimped on the charger for the phone too! My iPad Pro cost about $1100 with cellular and 512GB of storage and Apple skimped on the charger for it too. This has got to stop. For as much as these devices cost I think being nickle and dimed is appalling.

As I said previously, I already bought a charger and cable from the Apple Store. With that cold fact, your retort to me is meaningless and not forum belittlement you might have intended.

I agree, I would have liked Apple to include AirPods and a wireless charging pad. But like my analogy, if you want things in your Porsche that are pretty much common now like cruisecontrol or entertainment system or anything, you'll have to pay for that on top of the base price.

Don't get me wrong, I think Apple is getting worse and worse due to being too popular. This is the Apple of Cook now and it will never be the same (normal and plus models where the plus models have more RAM and a better camera which is ridiculous). It's more and more about maximising profits and the products are keeping the status quo. Im still buying Apple because for me they still make the best devices that fit my need, but im dreading the day Apple will face real competition.

Okay. I am going to bite the bullet here. I do not in any way mean to be rude nor confrontational. Please understand that. I am a guest in this forum and will always respect that.

For information ONLY...

I have been a member of an Adroid forum for many years. I get cross with members who name call. Do you realise what many Android owners call iPhone owners? iSheep. Its annoys the hell out of me. I never understood it until I became a member here.
Apple make some superb devices. In some areas they are years behind while in others they lead the way. In some areas they are still playing catch up non the less I have never tolerated personal attacks on another brands owners.

Make no mistake I despise Apple's corporate sales policies. I like many of there products have owned them all and find people just people regardless of what brand mobile they own.

Having written that I am truly sincerely shocked to read some of the replies and defences made toward and for Apple. I can understand football team rivalry but supporting a companies obvious abuse of customer loyalty beggars belief. Ats as if the owner is being personally attacked and not the sales philosophy of the worlds largest company?

Stop defending Apple when they make sharp practices, its not our fault!

I have found, in general, a warm welcome here and hope that will continue. I do not come here to fight but to learn from you guys and gals. Please accept my best wishes at all times.
