I'm not laughing at forced labor, I'm laughing at your implication that Apple is somehow unique in offshoring to countries with more lax laws than ours. It's a pervasive issue, but singling out Apple is a pretty weird place to start IMO.
I never said Apple was unique in this respect. This is an Apple forum so I was talking about them. If it was a Dell or HP forum I would criticise them as well.

No mega corporation cares about anything but their bottom line. And unfortunately for you, that likely will mean paying more to help them cover their tariffs fees in America.
Apple products are already significantly more expensive in countries outside the US. Raising prices even further will simply reduce sales.

Is Russia stealing intellectual property from the US, flooding us with Fentanyl, and tariffing US products ?

The US also doesn't want Russia to team up with China against the US. The US is also trying to end the war in Ukraine.
No. Just doing war in Ukraine costing USA a decent amount of money so indirectly Russia is very expensive for USA. That should warrant a tariff. "Trying" and being fooled by a very skilled politicians in Kreml.

Who knows, not even the Fuhrer in the White House knows. He might increase them next week, discontinue the next only to bring them back 3 weeks later. Depends on his mood.
And this is one of the truly major issues the US and the world faces. Trump doesn't make decisions by thinking out anything. He is incapable of such "higher" thought. He runs on impulse. He wakes up in a bad mood, he sees something nice about China for example, boom.. another 200% tariff.

I live in NYC my entire life and have seen Trump in action for well over 40 years now. He has always been a blowhard, impulsive, non-senscial person. Today, I truly think he is borderline insane. He actually posted an AI image of himself as the next Pope. The idiot isn't even Catholic. That sort of behavior is just not even in the same universe as to what we'd expect from a political leader, especially the President.

Companies can't plan or have no idea what someone like this will do on any sort of daily basis. Sadly, the Republican caucus that controls Congress is divided into two groups: those who actually think Trump is some sort of genius and those who are absolutely scared to death to go against him in any way shape or form. Congress could end the tariffs with just one simple vote, and they just won't do it.

What will happen? Other countries will offer Trump some little carrot...probably something that's already in place, or tiny tweak to something like that, Trump will decide they surrendered the world, and the tariff will end. The normal Trump cycle continues: 1) Create a massive problem. 2) Blame everyone else for the problem. 3) Reverse what he did. 4) Claim to be a genius for solving the problem.

Stop the panic. There will be some resolution coming. Neither country wants to endure a war, that isn’t skillful. Already starting to talk about it: https://www.foxnews.com/world/china-open-talks-trump-admin-lowering-tariffs-ministry-says
I expect it to end once Xi Jinping is forced out of power. Xi is trying to be another Mao Zedong and many in the Chinese Communist Party and People's Liberation Army are turning against him. Once Xi leaves the scene politically, there will be a deal and tensions will quickly ratchet down with a lot more stable economy.

IDK, he seems to be on a mission to destroy the economy this time. Hopefully, his need for praise will temper this nonsense, but I am not optimistic. I just saw an article on NYT that the Army is planning a yuuuuge military parade on Trump's birthday, like this was North Korea or something honoring the dear leader. This is probably Hegseth's doing as repayment for Trump not firing him. Also pretty ironic that the Army would go out of their way to laud a draft dodging loser. This might be all the ego stroking he needs as he continues to destroy the economy.

His ego won’t allow him to become unpopular. He likes to be lauded and praised.

Charging tariffs and thus antagonizing Russia makes them less likely to resolve the Ukraine war.

If Russia doesn't end the war, I expect China level tariffs being imposed on them.

companies will have to decide if it’s worth paying import tariffs or setting up factories in the US. But then there’s supply chains, which are extremely complicated and costly to set up. You need manufacturers for the manufacturers etc

Then there’s people and expertise, raw materials.

This takes times, so unless this is a long long term shift in manufacturing many companies will just increase costs and keep importing.

I don’t even know if people in the west want to work on factories anymore, and in any case they may all end up being completely automated within 10 to 20 years.

I understand why many countries/people want to bring back a manufacturing capacity but I just don’t know what’s the best way to do it, strategically.
