Quick question: What is the benefit of having an Apple watch? Why is everyone so excited about these new changes? I had a series 1 that i got for free when i signed up for a new checking account. I sold it after a month since i used it for about 2 days then never put it back on. Screen wasn't that responsive, really small (i had the bigger size), and didn't really help with anything. Replying to messages was extremely limited and didn't work well.

The only thing that i think is a great thing is LTE. If I can leave my phone in the car when i go to the beach and still have access to my phone, that might be worth it, but how often do those situations arise... I will most likely pass on the watch, i don;t think it's for me unless someone can explain why it's so useful and a must-have. I don't think they look particularly aesthetic so looks wouldn't be a reason to buy for me.

Pleased there's confirmation of a new watch and phone, will be getting both. Kinda hoping there's no new iPad as I love my 10.5 Pro and don't want an excuse to upgrade it.

Ok, so is it just me, or does the side button look more recessed? Like maybe it's not a physical button any more? There were rumors about that. It just doesn't seem to protrude as much, but perhaps this photo is taken at a weird angle. Looking at my Series 0 right now I have to rotate it seemingly further than the orientation in this photo before the cutout on the far side becomes visible, but maybe that has been altered between my Series 0 and this new model?

It's pretty clear both the side button and crown will be haptic.

Both are recessed to a significant degree.

Yeah it’s a Taptic button, definitely more recessed than prior models, it looks flush with the rest of the body.

They actually removed Hey Siri for the Watch in watchOS 5. I think it was because the iPhone and the Apple Watch were being triggered at the same time. Now you just bring up the watch to your face and talk for Siri.

Quick answer: convenience. Many times I don’t want or need to engage in a notification, but being able to see it quickly and efficiently is amazing. Also, I don’t miss a single notification since the haptic feedback taps my wrist. So if it’s super noisy or my iPhone is elsewhere on a desk or in another room, I’ll never miss that notification.

Other things like being able to control my music or podcasts on my wrist without pulling out my iPhone adds to that convenience.

Yep

I personally couldn’t have a phone without an Apple Watch now.

I think the side button will by the looks of it but Apple were so proud of their crown mechanism at AW1 launch so I don't think that they would get rid of that just yet.

They're not getting rid of the crown.

It's simply capacitive just like the newer home button. It will still rotate, however.

Seems like Apple watch simply isn‘t for you and that‘s okay.

I like wearing a watch, I like the design, I like the fitness tracking, I like having notifications and Siri on my wrist/be able to control my lights, see the weather forecast and control music from my wrist. It‘s no phone replacement of course but I didn‘t expect it to be. I expected it to be a watch with some extra features.

I may try Series 4. However, it better perform better than the Series 3 models I've tried. Too often they would not reconnect after being out of range from my X which led to constant reboots.
this is something very confusing - my wife rushes the kids to school in the morning and forgets the phone but LTE watch does not pickup and goes straight to voice mail - she has to reboot the watch every time to reconnect the AT&T network
