I'm wondering what these trade secrets were. Trade secrets, not source code or other documents.

Edit: from the linked document, "The trade secrets Lancaster stole and sent to the Correspondent for publication included details of unreleased Apple hardware products, unannounced feature changes to existinghardware products, and future product announcements, all of which Apple guards closely"

Damages = $0

“Got my dream job and have a leadership role in one of the most powerful, prestigious companies in the world...now how can I totally destroy my career and life?!”
Seriously, what more one can ask. Isn't working at Apple at that post already enough adventurous that you wanted more?

I wonder if they've found the airtags leaker. honestly, i've always thought the airtags are not actually a real product but is instead just something apple came up with to weed out a leaker. Sort of like those fake words in a dictionary or fake cities on a map.

Good for Apple. I hope this person goes to jail for a long time and pays heavy fines.

What people miss is they are stealing from their co-workers the joy of being part of an Apple launch, surprising the world, etc. It’s so selfish. And for what? Some indirect financial gains—maybe—and the ego stroking of knowing a secret.

These leakers are losers. Full stop. Pathetic losers.
You hope that someone goes to jail over a civil suit. Glad you don’t make the laws.

Could also be the AR glasses details being revealed by Mark Gurman in Bloomberg.

This seems to be the most logical candidate.

If you want your venture capital startup to get meaningful and impactful press coverage, you would aim for a publication like Bloomberg.
Not web-based gadget or rumor sites.

If you intend to offer information about a hot new Apple product, it would be a completely unannounced product line, like VR/AR grasses.
Not a revision of existing products, e.g. a 16" MacBook Pro.

I bet Apple will make an example out of him. Regardless of what you think of Apple, nobody should steal (let alone distribute) trade secrets and/or confidential materials from their employer. It's simply not worth getting sued for every penny you own, going to jail, or both. Obviously, it's also very unethical.
And majority of the content from such leakers it what makes it on sites like this.

Makes you wonder why clearly very smart people can be so dumb? He had it all and threw it away.

Prosser is out of business then! Bet that was his source.
Prosser has multiple sources and only mentions leaks on his channel if at least three of his sources cite the same thing.

Also, when Prosser mentions a leak, he's usually known about it for at least 3 months before going public.

If the employee stole/leaked trade secrets is a thief hence some cleaners time is due.

Still I find it funny that when the FBI asked Apple to help them to do data forensics on an Apple device of a murderer ... the Apple reply was ... “we cannot help, it’s impossible”. They even turned it into users Privacy matter ...

Double standards I guess.

Lol, “damages”. Apple incurred no damages from the leaks. If anything, it increased the hype for the products. How much money do they hope to get from this guy? And why would they even want his money? Just send his ass to jail and get it over with.

Never put anything past anyone has always been my motto Lol. I worked in Apple Retail for 10 years and I saw several folks get fired who seemingly loved the company sooo much and were there for so long.

We also were told some stories about people in corporate who got fired.

Out of thousands upon thousands of employees, of course there are gonna be some who just don’t care and are willing to risk the job.

Why would fake words be put in a dictionary or a fake city on a map? Lol maybe I’m missing something here.

I believe AirTags are real. There’s just way too much evidence along with the updates coming with 14.5. I think we’ll finally see them in the March event. If not? They’re never coming.

Pretty hypocritical of you guys for making fun of this guy on this forum. This is a rumors website... You and this website created the demand and are the consumers of his "stolen" goods.

Like a crack addict making fun of his drug dealer when the dealer gets busted.
Rumor sites are not the only buyers of insider information. Apple were lucky that's all it was in this instance and he wasn't selling secrets to Xiaomi or Samsung.

If somebody does a 1:1 copy of a dictionary or a map, the fake data will also show up in the copy.
If you copy the homework of your buddy and copy his mistakes - how likely is that this is „just a coincidence“?

And yet here you are on what a rumor site that features leaks. Somehow I think you actually admire leakers.

ahhh...so its ok for apple to circumvent their own encryption to investigate an employee. but not for law enforcement....got it.
It’s called using an MDM profile on iOS devices. Many corporations have such a server and the policies as being installed specifically state WHAT they do, what is corporate information n what is not looked at tracked or logged.

I’m guessing you’ve never had your personal phone on a corporate mdm server? I even doubt this former employee had a personal phone on the mdm server.
