It’s intel as in intelligence, not Intel as in processors!

Re: Snowden, the problem with the intelligence community is the lack of oversight. There’s no accountability when intelligence violates the rights of US citizens under the Constitution when citizens don’t know their rights have been violated. You could even argue that one’s oath to uphold the Constitution necessitated leaking the info and that to refrain from doing so would be treasonous. This really isn’t the same thing.

oh my bad.

still a bit surprising though to me, extra legal death penalty

Pretty hypocritical of you guys for making fun of this guy on this forum. This is a rumors website... You and this website created the demand and are the consumers of his "stolen" goods.

Like a crack addict making fun of his drug dealer when the dealer gets busted.

Rumors != Stolen information.
I have no information about Apple internals, but I can guess that there will be an iPhone 13.
That said phone will have a more powerful processor that the current one.
I can speculate that Apple will eventually use 5nm and below technologies.
I can guess that they will use a Sony module that is newly released or announced in the next phone.

I can guess that the next M1 processor will have an external memory bus for support of more than 16GB of memory.

I can speculate all of those things with absolutely no internal Apple information.

If the device was owned by Apple, then it is highly likely that Apple had an administrative passcode, since that is how enterprise device management works. If you have a device passcode you can read anything.
Ding, ding, ding. We have a winner. I’d be absolutely shocked if they didn’t have monitoring and management software on all company issues equipment. I work for a small business and I opted for a company provided phone and laptop versus BYOD for that very purpose. Their monitoring and management software isn’t going on my desktop, laptop or iPhone. Even if that means walking around with two cell phones and busting out a second laptop to work from home. If you’re stealing company data it’s pretty stupid to do it from company issued devices. Have a personal cell and use your camera. 😜

There is some truth to that sadly.

Yikes. Ok guys, I get wanting everything to be free or "public domain" but someone who steals ideas and sells them really needs to examine their life with a microscope.

I’m glad Apple is going after this guy if the allegations are true. Business in a lot of ways is like war, you wouldn’t want your opponent to know what your next move and strategy are, and if any employees leak their companies information for personal gain then they are traitors as far as I see it.

Probably nothing he leaked during that time period was anything of much consequence, just thinking about the lack of innovative stuff they released during that time period.

IPhone upgrades.
IPad upgrades.
A space gray Mac mini.

Definitely not like leaking stuff during the run between 2005-2010.

Proof right here that NOBODY'S iPhone is encrypted in such a way that it's impenetrable. Apple can read what's on them and what was in them - if they want to

"Further, forensic review of the devices Apple provided to Lancaster for his work at Apple shows Lancaster and the Correspondent.."
It was likely enrolled in a mobile device management platform. Your post is proof you should know what you‘re talking about if you want to have an opinion on something.

The sanctimonious replies, on a site literally called Mac Rumors, is truly ironic.
yeah no. There's a difference between gathering info from apple controlled releases, 3rd party case makers, circumstantial evidence... and using your senior position at the company to steal documents and info and give them to a journalist for personal gain.

If it’s true that this character was instrumental in the 2016 redesign of the MacBook Pros then I hope Apple ties him to a whipping post at a 75 degree angle and let’s all Touch Bar owners take turns spraying him with compressed air.

I get it the site is called MacRumors but I don't know that means people are ONLY or primarily interested in rumors. I think there's much more content about the products themselves post release than there are leaks. Maybe that's just what I read or my perception.

Speaking for myself, when I found this website, I was having an issue with my MacBook and through reading here, I found a solution. So I stuck around. While I enjoy reading the leaks, I much prefer to be completely surprised. I have to say, reading leaks and then seeing them in some cases almost verbatim at the keynotes almost makes them pointless.

It's a double edge sword. Leaks can be good for drumming up interest in a product, but Apple is not one that normally has that problem. Rules are rules. If he's gone against company policy, then he needs to be held accountable.

I bet Apple will make an example out of him. Regardless of what you think of Apple, nobody should steal (let alone distribute) trade secrets and/or confidential materials from their employer. It's simply not worth getting sued for every penny you own, going to jail, or both. Obviously, it's also very unethical.
Do you say the same when Apple steals from other companies?

Wow, that's quite an accusation. I come here for legally acquired rumors. There are lots of ways to get insight into Apple's plans without violating the law or contracts.

That's like saying "because you read the news, you create demand for information obtained from hacking cell phones, so don't say anything negative about people hacking phones ".

How do you know which rumours have been legally acquired?
