I prefer musicians create music not AI.
A lot of musicians already use AI tools to create melodies, bass lines, or drum tracks that they tweak OR just leave as is. Most won’t say that they do, though. Even if they rework the tune completely, it was still inspired by some random set of musical phrases the AI picked.

Meta just bought Accusonus as well.
Well, I guess I'm letting that subscription die next month.

There are only a couple of companies making FCP audio plug-ins - their's was one of the most promising, but the "AI" features wouldn't kick in until 1-2 seconds into a clip. So I'd get noise for 1-2 seconds - then clean audio.

And they blamed it on FCP. And their workaround was bananas.

I hope I can get CrumplePop to work. Any other suggestions?

Not like that one, though I’d imagine Apple’s purchase could bring that sort of thing to be a built in feature. I’ve been following Flow Machines
as it appears to be an interesting tech and one of the few apps that’s supported on iPad and Mac.

Apple could potentially make use of the AI Music technology in several ways. Songs that can update based on heart rhythm could be useful for Apple Fitness+, and Apple's Photos app uses royalty-free music to provide songs for photo slideshows, so on-demand generated music that matches mood could come in handy for that purpose.

I also see this technology as a future Final Cut Pro feature where you choose the mood, tempo, genre, descriptor, and perhaps even featured instrument or electronic sound (a la Logic Pro's Loops) to fit a commercial video.

It might be a serious upgrade over sifting through canned background music.

I’m sorry, but this sounds awful to me

Creative video/audio work should be interesting and unique and reflect the talent of creative individual humans doing the creating.

Just outsourcing music selection and ordering and pacing and flow to some AI bot is just …. Bleh…

Remember, a sufficient number of IF statements qualifies as AI...

Yes, it's just specialized Machine Learning algorithms.

It will be interesting to see how long it takes Apple from today, to put some piece of their Technology to good use !

The Timer is now active ...

The way it’s done in Killer Instinct, the game, is awesome. While it’s not AI, it adds incredible immersion to the game.

Guilty! I have used some of this to spark ideas in different genres.

I hate this stuff. The algorithms are a black box, so you have no idea how they might be working against your interests. When I skip a song on a playlist, I never know if it's "learning" that I don't like that song... not that I just happen to not want to listen to it *right now*...

Yes the use of many loops has been in use in multiple accompaniments. I even know a lot go well beyond that. But this involves " a startup that has developed a platform capable of creating songs using artificial intelligence".

Do we really want per se an artificial DJ that generates on the fly content derived from your listening habits that is tweaked to match your moods or biorhythm?

Back a few years Pandora did fairly well creating various user channels related to artists, while Apple Music seems to not be able to be as precise, more like someone who isn't a expert at picking selection, more or less random junk. Now this is what is up their sleeve? Yikes!:eek:

I have to say that some of the songs that Apple pulls together with iPhoto transitions are just beautiful even without this tech. I wonder if any of their content is available to see how far they had advanced.?

Someday we will all be living life with a live soundtrack playing in the background, living in our own personal movies.

If I can put in a mood or choose a set of requirements (like in Garageband) and out comes what I want to hear, that’d be fine with me. Some Sunday mornings, I just want generic “cafe music”, a genre that could likely be VERY faithfully copied.

In reading
“The technology is able to generate dynamic soundtracks that change based on user interaction.”
what I actually get from that is something that Apple could tie to Scene Kit. Where any application that wants to take advantage of generative audio without creating their own engine could do so via a few straightforward commands that would describe the range and provides the parameters that could be used to control the “feel” of the audio.

Still would like to be able to make smart playlist in iOs and be able to use BPM for making running playlists and sleepy time playlist.

Reminds me of Tangerine from 13 years ago

Per Marks article

Technology developed by AI Music can create soundtracks using royalty-free music and artificial intelligence, according to a copy of its now-defunct website. The idea is to generate dynamic soundtracks that change based on user interaction. A song in a video game could change to fit the mood, for instance, or music during a workout could adapt to the user’s intensity.

On its LinkedIn page, AI Music said its goal is to “give consumers the power to choose the music they want, seamlessly edited to fit their needs or create dynamic solutions that adapt to fit their audiences.” The startup had earlier deals with advertising companies to create more engaging ads that played different music depending on the audience.

That last part suggests a different reason that Apple might have bought this company?
