On Monday, I went to the Apple Store to buy an all-new MacBook Pro.

When I got to the part where they ask you which accessories you wanted with the purchase, I was immediately turned off when I realized I would need to buy multiple dongles to get make the machine work the way I wanted it to. I closed out of the page completely.

I'm still working from my 2016 13 inch MacBook Air. I'll wait another year or so before forking over another $2,000 for a new machine.

Hopefully, Apple gets their head out of their anus on this one.

Had the same feeling and found this, also you may want to check discounts like if you work for state or federal government. I've been to the store and would really like a 15".

I upgraded to the latest and greatest then sold it and went back to a top model 2014 MBP. I could not get used to the mousepad click fakery. Am I the only one? Quite possibly... As for the touch bar, that screams "gimmick". When my 2014 model eventually parts this World I will find another on FleaBay.
I agree with you on the trackpad. It was really ******. I returned my 2016 (also for various other reasons). I got used to the trackpad, but it never felt like my 2012's click. It was better than an original new style MB though that my friend has. The weird thing is Apple has been moving less and less tactical for years. I got my rMBP in 2012 and the 2013 or 2014 model had a clearly looser keyboard with less force needed for activation. Same thing with every Macbook Air ever. It really threw me off when all the 2013 and 14 keyboards my friends had were really poor feeling at least compared to my 2012. And my 2009 MBP had an even firmer keyboard than my 2012. Apple has sacrificed the feel of input devices for multiple generations for the sake of thinness. Adjusting to my 2012 took time, but now I can't type as well on my 2009. Really can't reconcile the 2016's trackpad though as that just never felt right.

With its high res display, the 15” fits more desktop real estate than did the 17”.

Actually the retina display of the 15" MacBook Pro is physically equivalent of 1440x900, which makes UI elements pretty big.

The ideal physically equivalent resolution would be 1680x1050 (which was the top resolution before the introduction of the retina display), and you can actually do it in the System Preferences, but that's not ideal because the display is made of 2880x1600 real pixels, so physically equivalent 1440x900 is the best looking option — all other scaled options look blurry (and Apple says they could even affect performance).

For sure it would be awesome to have a 15" MacBook Pro with a 3360x2100 real pixels, so that 1680x1050 would actually be the pixel-perfect native scaling and you would be able to see more on the screen, which is very important when running design, video editing, music production software. :)

I've been checking every day...still haven't seen any 15 inch 2017 models on refurbished site.

They just put back the 15 inch 2017 on their refurbished site! Just placed an order, picking up on Friday. Excited!

Wow, placed an order for one of the June 17 models, was given an expected delivery date, and then got an email that shipment would be delayed, and then got a second email saying it is no longer available and my order has been cancelled. Ridiculous and disgraceful!

I got 3 order delay emails from them and still have not received a tracking number. Called them 3 times and they told me iPhone X might be the reason for the delay. Seriously disappointed.

Picked up! I’m surprised it’s a new until, not refurbished! :)
