I thought Apple products didn't require a user manual to operate because they were so intuitive and easy to pickup. Now we have whole webpages to guide us through operating the Apple Watch? :smh:

I don't know if you remember or not,but the very first iphone had these same videos. I'd have to say, that was the easiest thing I ever used.

Which size is the one in the introduction video? ( the guy with the leather jacket )

Apple has been typically using the 42mm size in its marketing materials, but it's really difficult to tell because the only proportional reference in any of the videos is the person's wrist.

The 4mm difference between the sizes makes it impossible to tell just from that – I measured the wrist and the watch in the video, and depending on which figure you use for average adult male wrist size, the calculations can result in 42mm or 38mm for scaled down to actual size.

Watching the "Faces" walkthrough I just had an ephiphany (maybe I'm just slow). The reason Apple has been so stingy about being able to customize the lock screen on the iPhone is because they wanted to push people towards the Apple Watch!

I don't think the two are related at all. That said, I won't be surprised at all to see complications make their way to iPhone/iPad lock screens in iOS 9 or 10.

----------

Still think the whole "Faces" thing is pretty rubbish :(

And I quote:

Watch Faces:

"It's easy to make yours look HOWEVER YOU WANT"

Err, no it's not. We can pick from a small selection of only the ones you supply.
And WOW I can change the colour of the second hand OMG!

I know they won't let users make their own faces and REALLY allow you the user to "make yours look however you want"

But we must all be expecting officially approved watch faces to be up for sale pretty quick.
These built in ones are going to get real old, real quick, and all look pretty dull compared to what can be done

They have to start somewhere. They'll add more/open it up to devs in time.

Let's hope so.

Ideally myself, I'd want a watch that can show anything on it's screen, with no company blocking what I can have.

You're up obsessed with this notion that Apple will block watch faces yet you have zero evidence to support it.

For me I'm on an average salary and it seems like a sensible approach to wait a year or so until the next Apple watch comes out and is bound to be significantly improved.

I already have an Ipad and an Iphone that I tend to buy the latest edition of every 2 years. However I tend to buy an Ipad every 4 years as I don't see the need to get the latest edition of the Ipad.

I really do not want to burden myself with having to add Iwatch to a constant cycle of buying the latest one. But I know if I buy the Iwatch now I will certainly buy the next one that comes out as there is so much potential for improvement.

I have therefore set myself a criteria of expectations that I want the IWatch to meet before I buy one (and therefore negate the need to constantly buy the latest Iwatch as I'll be happy if it meets the requirements below):

1) 48 hour battery life
2) Proven to be mostly bug free
3) Great selection of apps.
4) Thinner Iwatch (the current one looks big)

It's the old "I want my devices infinitely customizable or they are crap" meme pc and android people live by. Even if they never actually use the power or successfully cock up their device doing their "customizations".

Yes, I honestly think they will block watch faces.

I think Apple, the freaks of control these days, will never allow you to have any face you want.

Not unless someone is able to hack the watch and open it up to unofficial apps.

At best I think devs will be able to design faces, Apple will view them, reject ANYTHING they don't like, and only allow thru a select amount.

You won't be seeing anything that had not been Censored by Apple on the watch you own, unlike on Android wear.

Not that I like Android Wear.
It's just that, for me, this is a major deal.

I know you enjoy only what Apple allows you to have, but I want to have what I want, irrespective of what they say.

And honestly........... I hope you can turn around in a few months time and prove me wrong.

Watching the 'Messages' Guided Tour finally convinces me that the :apple:WATCH is going to be highly successful in building up shoulder muscle.

:D

I'd not call, being able to customize a watch face with the watch face background image and hands that you wish to have, cocking up your device.

Or that it would be too much to ask.

This is supposed to be a VERY personal device after all.

Will it be possible to watch pornography on the watch, or can only Android watches do that?

It's really cool to see that these videos make the distinction between Force Touch and long pressing; you can perform a Force Touch in the same amount of time you do a regular tap (you just use more force, as the name implies).

For whatever reason, most of the "first impressions" videos show a long press for Force Touch when it's not needed.

Probably so people can distinguish between Force and no Force

You sure post a lot for someone that is so negative about the device. Maybe you should give it a rest until it is delivered.

If you pick an image for your watch face that's so busy you can't see any of the numbers or small info areas in the corners, that's effectively cocking up the function of your watch. Apple will have to create an app that modifies any personal image you might want to use so that it rapidly goes to solid dark color in those corners and doesn't interfere with being able to see the time. How that looks with your custom image remains to be seen.

I want the Mickey Mouse one just like in the tv ad that has him dancing on the watch screen!

You and most everybody else. Let's hope we get Donald and Goofy and Minnie etc...

----------

Thank god they didn't use Ive's voice. He sound so depressing and adds pointless words to his sentences to pad them out.

Wow, I couldn't disagree more. I could listen to him describe a tube of hemorrhoid cream, and I would want to run out and buy it.

I had a Mickey Mouse watch when I was a kid (still have it) so I'm sure I'll have that watch face for a while as well. I also agree that Ive's voice is very smooth and easy to listen to. But, the "everyguy friendly, it's easy to learn" voice is better for a function walkthrough. Ive's voice is good for the "sexy tech" stuff ;)

I'd agree. Plus, Ive's dialog delivery is always very slow and deliberate. For these kind of "how-to" videos they're better off clipping along at a faster pace or else the whole process they're trying to illustrate would come across as time-consuming and tedious.

The video activated my Siri!

LOL! Am I the only one who had Siri start an email to Bob on my phone while watching the video?

.

I support you on that, I think they will too!

I wonder if the watch faces are interactive.. like having Micky and his clothes change depending on the time of day....

Anyway..... I like these videos, the interface looks super good. Good on you Apple! It will just make it harder to wait till 2nd generation.... ;)

I think the faces will at least be modifiable by additional faces in the app store. That way the designs can be pre-approved for readability and copyright. Sorry if that's not good enough. I know I would like to put a picture of my cats on my watch like I have on my iPhone but somehow I'll manage to live without it ;)

Why in the world do you spend so much of your time in the Apple Watch section/related posts when you clearly do not like it? I'm honestly curious.

I found the iPod nano 6th Gen very hard to use with my big fingers. This watch is looking too similar to it for my liking.

Thats precisely what the digital crown is for. The crown will keep your fingers off the small screen for interactions that would require more than a tap.

Watching this train wreck gets better by the hour !!
Apple Flop 2015 !!!

Could be. I am interested in how this plays out. Does the brand fanaticism completely define the user experience? or will there be buyer's remorse about the ill fitting chunk of smudged black reflective glass. Maybe both!

i predict the the crown won't be used by people even half as much as apple thinks. looks cool though
