From what I remember the 5s did not have pre-orders the week before launch because of supply constraints. From the sounds of it, it doesn't sound like the 6 is having this problem(the 4.7" anyways). So we very well could have a pre-order date of next Friday.

From experience does anyone know if there are preorders the Friday before should I expect delivery on or very close to launch day?

Imagine if they built the iPhone here in the US, and Apple would make $50 less in profits, but more jobs and a stronger economy would mean more iPhone sales.

Anyway, hope this iPhone 6 sells well.
I would definitely pay $200 for the 5.5" 128GB (unsubsidized and bundled with a free iWatch).

Tim sent all the engineers to AA in the last year so no going to bars.

They are going to be held *behind* bars this time around!

Apple doesn't pay $50 to ship an iPhone. Given the volume, they may be paying a couple of bucks per iPhone.

The hard part isn't shipping the stuff. The hard part is getting everything to your assembly line. That includes flashing your OS onto your motherboard. Flashing the OS is the only part I don't understand; I suppose they have a huge mobo flashing station somewhere upstream of assembly, because they can't flash at the end of the line, can they? Do they flash after device assembly but before it goes in the box? That makes no sense either, because that'll open the chance of scratch/dent - plus that would be a tremendous amount of cables.

<shrug>. One day they'll have a video of the line.

If you get your pre-order in relatively soon (~ first couple hours after they go live) you will get your phone on launch day.

If you wait until daylight to pre-order, there is a strong chance you'll be back ordered and standing in line come launch day.

FEDEX - Once you see the arrow, you cannot unsee it!

Oh my god. I've NEVER noticed it before. I don't know how. But now you've ruined it for me haha.

The good news is that I'm switching from gold to black this go' round, where black was readily available in the Chicagoland area on release day for the 5S. :) The bad news is that the screen is bigger, so demand will negate the advantage of going for the most plentiful color. :(

Here's hoping there's a true pre-order this time. Camped for the 5, would rather NOT do that this time.

Camping is for the woods, not malls.

Samsung are always saying how many items they 'ship' rather than sell, so now that Apple has bought all the plane space, Samsung can literally 'ship' their items.

I love that photo!

Taken at Anchorage International Airport! :D

Edit: They changed the photo... :(

Samsung is a great partner!

Very important customer indeed.

Wonder if they meant Samsung?

Samsung is a great partner with shipping companies. I mean, how else do you send defective and unsold units back to the manufacturer?

If I were Apple I would give a surprise to all of the 2500 people that go to the September 9 presentation, the surprise I would give them is the possibility to buy the new iphone 6 in that place after the presentation. Only one per customer.

This could be one of the best marketing decision ever, could you imagine all the press talking about this.

Nobody has done this before and it could be one of the best marketing decisions of all time ever for a company.

All the press people that go to the presentation would return to their offices with a brand new iphone 6 without waiting.

Also the same for the iwatch if it is ready

Please not FEDEX

I hope everything goes well, FEDEX always caused me problems, their employees steal packages, 3 of my packages got lost at different time, and their horrible NON CustomerService is the worst part, they didn't want to be responsible, the I love UPS

I don't think I've seen this much hype for any of the iPhone releases in the past, and that is saying something. Some mockup pictures even made it to the home page headlines of CNN, not just buried in the tech section.

I feel bad for the shipping company workers, though. I've heard that iPhone release week is considered the worst time of year for UPS that is dreaded by the workers.

I hope the UK gets pre orders this time, we got pushed out to make room for China last year.
