Turned on my Samsung Gear S this morning at 8am and the battery was at 90%. I have not really used it that much at all today. Just checked for messages, phone calls and looked at the time a once in a while. Just checked it at 9:30pm right now and its at 65%. I has its own sim card and I use it as a backup phone. It is water resistant, has an awesome curved display, only cost $299 and feels great on the wrist. It also comes with a charger that is a battery and you can take it with you. I bought an extra one from Samsung to keep in my bag so I don't need to run for a charger but have not gotten to use it since the battery is pretty good. Have not run out of juice yet.

I know everyone hates Samsung on here but this watch is a win. The apple watch is laughable really.

Who cares?

Does anyone know what apps it really has anyway? Seems useless to me. Well I never saw the use of an iPad, but now I can't put it down.

Lost the plot

Should have gone with the round face, this just looks like a nano with a strap - wait, this has already been done, have a Google for "ipod nano black watch"

This thing is going to be great in 2019 or so.

It's all interesting, but pretty sure I'll be skipping the first generation or two.

Funny, that watch has twice the volume (so it is a brick basically) and I've had NO ONE report what your reporting (not even in tests), so hey! Just saying.

But it has a keyboard and web browser. Exactly what every smart watch should have. :D

This is the ugliest thing I've EVER seen. IF you think anyone normal will every wear this, well you are mistaken.

Let's you work for 9 hours a day (9am-6pm), your commute is an hour, so you leave at 8am and get home at 7pm. You're saying you routinely stay up a further 8 hours? That you regularly get only five hours sleep?

You must be an anomaly. Then again, as Tim Cook supposedly works crazy hours, I'm sure Apple will have thought of this.

I generally get between 5 & 7. Up at 6:30-7:30, at work between 8 & 8:30 out of work between 5:30 & 8, in bed between 12 & 2. depends. There are lots of people like us.

So you get up between 5 and 7, but up at 6:30and 7:30? Either you are drunk, a samsuck user or sporting serious wood every morning.

Someone should invent a portable battery that you wear as a fashion bracelet on your other wrist so that you can recharge your phone / watch when they inevitably die mid-day.

I actually like this idea. A bracelet batter, with a very short cable end to attach to the watch, is a very simple way to charge it will out and about.

What the hell kind of a tiny device like a watch needs such a fast cpu, 60fps, retina display, and all the other crap in it? Without all this crap, the battery would last longer.

The only people who care about retina displays are fanboys. Retina is no more than just fancy jewelry. The majority of professional photo and video editors do not care about retina, it's an apple thing.
What is it that you think Retina is? Why would people who need the highest pixel density not care about the highest pixel density?

You think it's a good idea to look like you're in shackles to get a few extra hours of battery on a watch?

I saw a post on here yester that detailed an apple watch game. It will have games. Little puzzles and memory type games mostly I would image but I am betting there will be some creative developers who make decent games to entertain you for 5-10 minutes while you're killing time. I'm not sure how useful it is to have games in it though since the watch requires an iPhone and the games on that would be better for sure.

That's not a "game", I mean with 2D or 3D graphics...

That's just a normal App, with normal interface elements... you know what a "game" means for a technical standpoint.

Don't try to be "smarter" than other people.

Every long flight and long bus ride I've ever been on had USB or at least 110v:eek:
Even airports have power to plug into.

Every single flight? Ever?
So, how old are you?

And what airline + route + class do you fly?

I only fly monthly, typically econ, and most flights don't even have AV any more, let alone have power plugs at every seat. It is now bring your own lunch and entertainment.

i seriously don't understand why apple can't figure out how to come up with charging through motion like those watches without batterys... While running it would keep it from dropping and walking would extend battery life.

Watches that are charged through kinetic motion require virtually no power. They have tiny batteries that fill up fast. No kinetic charging would even make a dent in this battery.

What about Fusion Power then? And before you claim that it's not feasible technology, may I remind that Apple already makes Fusion Drives! ;-)

You seem to be completely ignoring people who actually.. kinda do. What I mean by that is what about the frequent traveler. Many journeys across the globe can take upwards of 24 hours between catching flights, the flight itself lay overs etc. Point is, you can find yourself many times in situations where it is not realistic or convenient to pause to tie your arm to the closet power plug you can find to charge your watch, all the while staring at said watch in desperation as you see your boarding time drawing near.

That's just one example. Long bus trips is another.. etc etc.

As one of those frequent overseas travelers I can tell you that nearly every airline is moving to planes that have power plugs at every seat. It won't be a big deal to top up your watch (I already do with my phone, bluetooth headphones and laptop... why not my watch?)
