So this suggests we'll get an iPhone event in late August, early September with releases in late September (and October if rumours concerning the 5.5" iPhone 6 are true) and then another event in mid-late October exclusively for the iWatch with a release in October/November(?).

Of course, I imagine this won't give developers enough time to develop software or apps for the iWatch (if indeed Apple offer an iWatch App Store) suggesting that the iWatch will function purely on stock apps and software on launch. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what they do with it.

It’s hilarious. The Android fanboys are already saying Apple is copying Samsung. Even though Apple most likely has been developing this for a very long time.

No, Samsung just rushed out an unfinished, unthought-through product (as usual) in order to attempt to come out with a product before Apple. I imagine Galaxy Gear 3 will be released shortly after the iWatch with a remarkably similar design and UI.

Everyone is assuming iWatch is a health tracker/wrist watch. Maybe iWatch isn't a wearable at all - could it be the code name for the new aTV. The next aTV could be called iWatch. Seems strange that all the aTV rumours died down as soon as the iWatch started being discussed.

I dont think that Apple will make 2 events in one month. October is for ipads/mac and maybe apple tv

September iPhone
October iWatch
November iPads

OR

early September iPhone
Late October iWatch + "one last thing" iPad refresh

I would bet money we won't see an Apple tv for at least 12 months, if ever

No, it's definitely a wearable.

Nope.

The way that health kit works, any apps that have implemented the standards will automatically pair and feed information.

I'm watching the accessories session right now

Tan up this summer MR Trolls! This fall could be a bumper whine harvest season for you all.:D

When they released healthkit and homekit at WWDC all I could think of is these would both work really well with a wearable. Especially if the wearable has access to Siri.

Well, that was predictable I guess. But I'm talking about applications that exist specifically on the iWatch. Like Twitter for iWatch or Facebook for iWatch. Not that these types of apps WILL exist on the iWatch. It will depend entirely on the direction Apple takes the iWatch and exactly what sort of device it will be.

I can't wait for the official announcement thread.

"After all the hype I was expecting much more than a tiny featureless iPhone that needs an actual iPhone to do anything useful."

"No one will wear this and talk to their wrist in public."

"I don't even have an iPhone so what's the point in this for me? Do they really think everyone is going to buy an iPhone just to use one of these?"

"So Apple expects people to pay $price for the 'convenience' of not having to take their phone out of their pocket?"

"It doesn't even have [feature]? My android watch has been able to do [feature] for two years."

"People aren't going to buy a watch they need to charge every x day(s)"

'wearables' tech gadgets seem to be forced. What's better then pulling out your 4-5 in smartphone? A watch is JUST BARELY more convenient to look at then pulling out your phone, and the Google Glass consensus has already been made.

While I completely agree with you, I find myself wearing and looking at my tide watch to check the tide before surfing rather than pulling out my iPhone and checking my multiple tide/surfing apps.

Curved Screen

How can that be possible if it's also a round screen like rumors lately? Unless, this iWatch thing is something special and different than what Samsung, LG and other companies already had in the market, it won't be much success. I still don't see the true benefit of smart watch beyond the convenience or maybe gimmick just like Google Glasses.

Maybe, it's just a simple health tracker device which can sync with iDevice in proximity or through iCloud which should cost $99 or less instead of $199-$249 as suggest, unless it can be used for weeks without charging or send voice commands to Siri to perform tasks for HomeKit and such.

Apple won't make money in TV business since there's so much competition out there. They'd rather improve Apple TV to expand capability to games and such but not a TV set.
iWatch if there's one should be for wearable device. Otherwise, the HealthKit is not even worth to be mentioned in WWDC if it's used only in current iOS devices.

----------

I suppose Flavor Flav will be Apple's next big acquisition.

And Apple will name him "iClock"

You know what would be the REAL game changer? Google glass in the shape of a CONTACT LENSE. That would appeal to EVERYONE, as it would be a hardly noticeable device, like a cell phone. That is really wear wearables needs to go IMO.

And when it has electrical short, it fcks up your eyes. No thanks.

So persecuted we are!

Better Name?

Can we stop calling it iWatch? It's going to be a health device that also has a clock. Not going to be a watch or look like a watch. It's going to be a health accessory not a fashion accessory like a watch. They are going to make a better fitbit. It's not a coincidence that fitbit is delaying there new device until "later" this year. I expect something from apple called an iFit. It will be bracelet in all sorts of colors that ties into ios8 but also beams nicely to android.

Just like to note that we haven't heard a peep from Motorola about their 360 which is supposedly being released any day now. Haven't even seen a real demo of the software actually on the device itself. Makes me wonder if they actually have a real product or if they're still in serious development.

Waiting for the iWatch with cautious optimism. Tim has been saying that they are about to do something for the Smartwatch market ever since that Rock Center with Brian Williams and repeats that every year or so and nothing happens.

Here's to the :apple: iWatch coming in October. :)

I'm not sold on any sort of iWatch yet (though to be fair, Apple hasn't officially pitched me anything yet).

'wearables' tech gadgets seem to be forced. What's better then pulling out your 4-5 in smartphone? A watch is JUST BARELY more convenient to look at then pulling out your phone, and the Google Glass consensus has already been made. It doesn't help that at this point I have lower expectations for Apple venturing into brand new markets since Steve is gone.

Regardless, Apple products are of such high quality that If I had the money, I would buy one for the experience. :apple:

What if you are running, or climbing, or sailing etc etc.

Any active sport it's easier to just lift your arm than pull a 800 dollar fragile device out of a pocket and have to hold onto it to view some data.

I think it won't have standalone apps like twitter, more likely is it will receive the push notifications specifically formatted in a GUI for the watch.

the price will make or break this. Any more than $200-250 will be too much. Should be around the price of the Nike Pulse and the competition. Maybe a small apple bump because we fan boys will pay extra if they make it shiny.

People don't use watches and I personally work out and run so I am interested in stuff like this but Even at $200 I'd probably pass unless it did something revolutionary which I doubt it will. Even if I can make calls from my wrist it looks stupid.

You're right.

Much prefer this mockup than the fuel-band-esq mockup on the 1st page...

Having said that I doubt I'll be buying one either way, possibly once it hits the 2nd gen stage.
