Don't get me wrong, I love Googly stuff, but the AirPods are much better IMO.

I carry by AP's in my pocket every day. Pop them out, listen, pop them in. Right in and out of my front pocket, simple.

I use a Note 8, too.

The Google Buds are chaotic with the wire and huge fiddly case. Pass, just like most every reviewer. They just aren't a good product vs. the Air Pods.

No company will ever match Apple's cool factor, no matter how hard they try, no matter the innovations. Why? Simply because Apple take their time to polish and perfect their products.

A tech marvel like iPhone X and its design and stupidly intuitive gestures are a clear example, something that competitors have never even dreamt of.

Google (Android) will always have this problem. Apple can implement a feature at the OS level and it will get near immediate adoption, which results in quick acceptance and developer support. Google can't do this because millions upon millions of devices will never get their current OS updates. Even those that do get an OS update--that aren't named Pixel--might have OS-level features not properly implemented since the OEM wants you to use their competing service or app. As a consequence, Google must push out most of their critical features and services at the App level. This gives a relatively competent amount of functionality, but it takes ages for their OS-level changes/innovations to gain any real traction.

Since Apple controls the hardware and OS so tightly, the experience by default will feel more refined.

Wish I could like the AirPods. Fit is terrible for me, always moving around and then sounding tinny. One size fits all doesn’t work for ears. Also a color other than white would be nice.

maybe someone using them with silicone tips like those available all over, can tell us if fit is improved, AND most importantly, if they fit inside the charging case without having to take those off

I’ve owned a ton of apple products over the years and I can honestly say that the AirPods are the single best product I’ve experienced from apple. They work so flawlessly, and are a very well thought out product. There’s literally nothing bad I can say about them, other than they only come in white.

One note though, the wired apple earbuds always fit well for me, which is a huge factor in earbud satisfaction.

My issue is the long term negative potential of wearing these things inside of your head all the time. We already bathe in too much radiation from our phones and wifi. Do need that JAMMED IN OUR HEADS half the day? I think I'll wait for studies before jumping on board.

"Redmond, start your photocopiers" a decade later became "Mountain View, start your photocopiers"
Wasn't the "don't be evil", all about Google not wanting to be M$?
I'm PMSL at the hypocrisy of last years hullabaloo over Apple's arrogance at removing the headphone jack.

They do not fit inside the case with those. I've only used the ones with the silicone "hook", and they make all the difference - have never had any fear of them popping loose. I was impressed with the Airpods but disappointed about them falling out, but with these I love everything other than not being able to put them in the case. Perfectly comfortable with the hook, too.

No comparison, ever. AirPods are a well researched and designed product that is perfectly implemented into a functioning ecosystem.

Google Pixel Buds are the exact opposite.

Yep. I’m fully expecting to see an explosion of people with AirPods post-Christmas.

Leave it to Apple to create an entirely new division of their business big enough to make the Fortune 500 list with just one product and one iteration.

I don’t get why anyone thinks these compete with AirPods. The only cool unique feature is the U.N. style translation - not that it’s dead on accurate. Otherwise they are your standard $75 wireless bud. I think the Jaybird Freedom F5 @ $50 Black Friday is a better buy.

Exactly the point, and the reason Apple will always make them only in white: they're iconic. You can tell immediately when someone is wearing AirPods (and EarPods) whereas the Pixel Buds could be any of a hundred other brands.

TC will make them in any color to make a buck. I don’t think white is gospel, it’s an opening salvo. At some point when sales start flagging we’ll see new colors. A lot of AirPod owners would buy a second pair in matte black or gray or red or pink like they buy AW bands. New colors also attracts new customers.

Well, this IS MacRumors after all so the Google Pixel Buds have been declared vastly superior by the denizens.
... for literally being vastly inferior. Strike 1: They're wired Strike 2: They don't auto pair / sync to your other android devices Strike 3: They're $160 -- You can get wired bluetooth stereo earpods that similarly don't auto pair / sync for a lot less.

Sure -- the chromecast stick doesn't compare either to the AppleTV. But the chromecast is $30. If the Pixel Buds were half the price then you could say "Ok, not as fancy. But still touch sensitive and google integrated earbuds at more affordable price point."
