Why is it that every hardware that Google makes looks so cheap and budget?
I mean their flagship and expensive phones LOOK so ugly and cheap and now these "pixel buds" look just like super cheap bluetooth ear-buds from amazon.
Their designer are just terrible and so talent-less..I can sit here and design something that looks 10x better in just 15 minutes.

This is very true. My one critique of the airpods is fit. Why can’t they use an earbud style.

Somebody help me out here, because either this guy is crazy or I'm crazy for thinking that AirPods are pretty much the definition of an earbud style.

No company will ever match Apple's cool factor, no matter how hard they try, no matter the innovations. Why? Simply because Apple take their time to polish and perfect their products.

A tech marvel like iPhone X and its design and stupidly intuitive gestures are a clear example, something that competitors have never even dreamt of.

There are several characteristics of the AirPods that prove this to be true--basically Apple knows what's considered to be a 'dealbreaker' and what's not:

1) The wire on the Pixel Buds: it's quickly becoming a dealbreaker, so the AirPods does without it. I doubt Apple ever seriously considered releasing AirPods with a wire. Not only did Google do so, they had the balls to ask the same price.
2) The gestures on the Pixel Buds: there's no way that gestures on such a small device are going to be as accurate as the user would like. There's just too little surface area to allow for more than a few functions to be controlled with gestures this way.

Airpods were the first GOOD Bluetooth headphones that didn't have both sides connected by a wire that gets in your way. Google Pixel Buds aren't even in this category, I don't understand the comparison.

The pixel buds translated “what do you want?” To “Che cazzo vuoi?”... this literally means “what the eff do you want?” Hahaha nice one google...

It's important to note that although EarPods always fell out of my right ear, AirPods fit really well and NEVER fall out.

The part of the PixelBuds that goes in your ears looks ugly. The translate feature on PixelBuds doesn't seem so unique, since they're not doing any of the computation, and only make things convenient in a loud place.

English to Spanish translation? It was set to Italian, maybe take a moment to check before posting a video. :)

i wouldn't look into finding out the answer to this question on principle (google is evil), but what's the strap for? and why the hell would you make it in a material that will absorb sweat? gross. these aren't even in the same league as airpods...looks, function, and even the case. i like how they straight up copied the opening of the case and having a notification pop up on your phone.

My experience as well. I can’t believe how comfortable the AirPods are for me as I could never wear Apple’s EarPods.

The AirPods are amazing, amazing design.

Looking at my Watch, the Pencil and the AirPods and I’m grateful for innovatively designed products that are a joy to use.

Thank god for W1 chip.

Who the hell wants to take off the earbuds, put them back in the case and then pair them again just to switch devices.

AirPods FTW!

I mean was that statement really that over your head to not know the difference in fit between the airpods and a normal earbud. C’mon guy get with it.

The translation of the PixelBuds isn’t anything like UN style in real time. It’s basically just the microphone interface to google translate. And if you’ve ever used that, you know how seriously bad it can be.

Totally agree! I actually forget I have the AirPods in. More than once I have nearly stepped into the shower with them in.

I watched the Google keynote.

I’m literally not kidding when I say I honestly thought the reveal of the Pixel Buds was some kind of trolling or joke from Google.

They are SO ugly, SO unpolished, and have such an ugly unsightly wire that I didn’t think they could be real. And the price? Wow.

Airpods are over a year older and look 5 years ahead of the Google Buds.

To me its the same ole Google/Android story. The product just is not a good looking piece of equipment. Not sure if it would be described as industrial, but they just seem to always lack the "polish" that apple products have.

As for the video review, oh my gosh - I watch it for your opinion. Please stop with trying to always be right on the fence. Its OK to like one better than the other.

Just got my pair of AirPods from AAFES (tax free!) and I was still very skeptical at first about the audio lag that I keep experiencing with all the different Bluetooth headphones which I have (over 15 different pairs).
The lag is still there with the AirPods, but not very discernible unless I am focused on it.
So far, I am turning into a believer about them, except the looks of the hardware itself...

IMHO, the only reason to choose wireless earphones/ headphones over wired ones is the sheer convenience and freedom that wireless offers. The Pixel buds simply fails in that regards. I take the Airpods in and out of its case dozens of times a day. I can't imagine doing that with the Pixel buds. With the around the neck design, it should have lasted at least 10+ hours so that it can be left around the neck for the entire day
