Haha I saw these on TV for the first time (after having watched them on YouTube) a couple days ago. At the same time, I'm using my new HTC Inspire after having been an iPhone user since June 2008.

It's nice being able to do so much more on Android... The customization is amazing.

I'm not saying Android is better than iOS, it just seems like it fits me better. But these ads aren't anything spectacular. My two favorite Mac ads ever are 1984 and Think Different. That's the Apple I grew up using :)

Most android users already wish they had an iPhone

I think by now pretty much every person on the planet with access and sufficient income has purchased an iPhone if they wished to do so.

Whatevvs. Nothing else IS an iPhone besides an iPhone. Any other purchase is just a stopgap.

See this is the same tired response I'd expect from an Apple drone. My issue with the iPhone wasn't with the phone itself, but with the customization of it. I love to tweak gadgets and play with different parts of an OS and for me the iPhone was just too limiting.

My biggest issue with this statement is that it makes Android phones seem like the end all and be all of smart phones. In truth it isn't just like the MAC isn't the only way to go for computing. If that were the case you wouldn't have people just like me giving up their iPhones for Android phones.

Just some quick supporting statistics:
When I started my last job 3 out of five people had iPhones and 2 had Windows Mobile phones. Of those all three have now switched to Android.

When I started my current job 8 out of 10 had iPhones and the other two had blackberrys. Now only about 3 iPhones remain, the rest are Android.

Kind of throws a monkey wrench in you're whole stop gap idea huh?

Some people hate that. More people hate it than like it. You will simply have to come to terms with being in the minority, seemingly an impossible hurdle for most here at MR.

Of course, I don't mean to say Android does not have its fans who think it is fantastic and love love love the OS. But many many just got it because.

Like there arent a whole crapload of people who bought an iphone just because its made by apple?

Finally watched these.

I find this thread hilarious. I was expecting some snotty, whiny voice complaining about Android, based on this thread. These ads are nothing. That voice isn't smug or pretentious as said dozens of times here. The ads are not very intelligent or memorable, and the iBooks ad is fairly lame as that store is hardly the best around, but I don't see the attitude at all.

You people need to get a grip. If this is pretentious, then that guy I saw driving a Jetta the other day must be a Harvard prof in his fancy car.

Like I mentioned earlier, I suspect most people who posted in this thread complaining about them saw this thread, were pre-disposed and biased towards them before viewing them and thus provided that kind of feedback.

If you saw them outside of the context of this discussion, I think most people have a hard time seeing the snootiness or pretentiousness of what some people claim. They are simply promoting their device and what it can do.
