Is it just me or does the fake hand creep you all out too?
I really fail to see the problem with using a real hand.

I liked it...

I was one of those "had android because that was the only option" until a couple of weeks ago... Jumped from sprint to AT&T... Coverage is a lot better, but data is a lot slower... The phone is hands down the reason I switched... I had the htc hero rooted with gingerbread and overclocked and it just can't stand up to an out of the box iPhone!

Too bad they did not show the virtual handcuffs that you get with the iPhone.

Too bad a certain knockoff platform's advertisement doesn't show the open wasteland that it is.

Can you please explain what an open wasteland is?

Double post
Ffuuuu!

It's stuff like this that makes me embarrassed to own Apple products.

I think Apple has always made the best personal computer OS and cell phone OS, and I will continue to use Apple products for that reason. However, I do feel a sense of shame when I use my MacBook and iPhone in public due to the smugness and pretentiousness of both Apple's advertising and their fanboys. I am also ashamed of how Apple products have are currently regarded as fashion accessories. That is so feminine, and I miss the days when Apple products were mostly functional-looking and regarded as tools for accomplishing a task.

Man, each year Apple does something that just grinds my gears. I think my next PC purchase will be a Windows PC just because Apple's arrogance is becoming sickening.

I don't think it's arrogant to state "We have a better product than the competition. This product does things that the competition can't do." I see that as how advertising is supposed to work.

and people wonder why there is the stigma that if you own an apple product you're a deuche... the stigma comes from Apple... as proven in yet another ad.

There's a stigma attached to owning Apple products? I don't think the consumer cell phone market agrees with you.

Overall, I think these ads are effective. I don't think they are "snide" or "smug." They are simply telling you what iPhone does that other smartphones don't do. iTunes, iPod, iBooks and App Store are the four main selling points. Admittedly, iBooks has some very good alternatives, but the other three don't.

I wonder why people seem to hate these ads so much. I don't get it

Where do you live? Possibly this is just a US thing. The rest of the world sees Apple as an innovative company, very sleek and smart. Having an iPad or MacBook Pro in public is not something anyone would feel "ashamed" about. Are you sure you're not overreacting?

Since when has displaying an Apple product become shameful? How ridiculous...

Well these ads work. It doesn't make PC users any nicer towards Apple though.

Think I'll start saying "Yup" instead of "Hello" when I get a call now.

The thing I feel when typing on my Mac in class is not being ashamed... I never took my toshiba to class... It was bulky and a navy blue eye soar. More than 50% of the students I have class with have macs so I fit in more than I show off.

This makes me feel ashamed to own an iPhone. I just got one because I had enough points with my carrier to get a new phone and since I already own Apple computers and use mail, iCal, iTunes, etc. this obviously is the easiest sollution. Apart from that I fail to see what's so great about it. Doesn't do much more than my old Sony Ericsson phone did.

This one has an air of pretentiousness to it.

I agree... this condescending cr*p, makes me despise them as a corporation.

IMO Apple has turned to be the new Microsoft. A few years ago, they used to convey a more relaxed, open image - the whole "think different" attitude. They used to be the exception, and that motivated them to create exceptional products. Not anymore: product value goes down, prices go up, options get slashed, pro edge is lost... and don't get me started on the declining quality!

The new motto in Cupertino: greed is good.

The geeky, anti-Apple Android users don't want iPhones. However, there are many, many Android users who wish they had iPhones — true story. I'm talking about the normal people (not geeks) who have friends with iPhones and they're left out in the cold.

I bought a Galaxy S instead of the iPhone 4 because it seemed better for my use than an iPhone would (and I don't live in the US, so it's not an AT&T vs Verizon thing and the price was roughly the same so it wasn't that either). So far, that has turned out to be the correct decision.

That doesn't mean I won't consider an iPhone 5 when the time comes (or a phone with WP7 or webOS for that matter).

It might make me a geek, but it certainly doesn't make me anti-Apple.

Same here. I have a MBP and a 1st Gen iPad but my phone is a Galaxy S, because I actually find it useful to have more than just icons on my homescreen.

Most of the times I really like Apple commercials but this one just sucks to be honest. Earlier commercials always just showed what you could do with your phone and had a 'happy' message attached to them. This one sounds agressive, a bit desperate even. The PC vs Mac ads were great because they were funny. This is neither funny nor very informative. They should just continue showing their strengths and great innovative apps. That will still work without being negative. I can't believe that a very well paid marketing director has given his/her approval for these ads. Big mistake.

To all those saying, "These commercials make me ashamed to have an iPhone, etc," here's a suggestion: shut the hell up.

It's competition. It's the same thing as the stupid other ads that other manufacturers have used against the iPhone. ALL commercials are smug. If you think these are any different, you're the one who's fueling the Apple stereotype. (Advertising/Marketing major here.) The ads aren't aimed at you anyway (they're aimed at "normal" people who wish they had iPhones, i.e. not geeks on MacRumors).

So just stop talking about it and accept the fact that iPhones are cool. You don't have to be smug about it, but don't let a commercial dictate how you act about a piece of plastic that makes calls. It's a product in a competitive market fueled by advertising. Welcome to America.

These ads are smug, and the 3rd one isn't even true!

If you don't have an iPhone, then you have a MUCH LARGER and LESS EXPENSIVE collection of books with the Amazon Kindle app!

There's absolutely no advantage to Apple's iBookstore AT ALL.

I'm surprised they even brought up such a ridiculous point in a non-effective ad.

Bad ads, all the way around.

So I suppose you can't buy books through Amazon with the - wait for it - Kindle App for iOS?!?
:eek::rolleyes:

Think before you write, please.

These are a bit snotty. Oh, well. Apple can afford to keep fishing for ad styles :)

I think MOST Android users have an Android phone either because a) they wanted an iPhone, and being on Verizon, this was as close as they could get, or b) one of the small-but-loud anti-Apple contingent told them Apple is evil and Android is awesome. (Of course, the people who need advice like that are the people would can least put up with Android’s failings! But every tech-savvy person, be they anti-Apple or not, influences many "normals.")

Or c) Wanted an iPhone, but at £219 for a iPhone where you only get 75mins/month compared to HTC Desire at Free with 300mins/month for the same £25pm contract, then the Android wins :(

I'd love an iPhone, but not when it costs so much!
