Has anyone received an email saying that they're NOT getting one? Looks like they're just sending the winners batch first.

Yup. I didn't "win" I have several apps in the store over a few accounts. Guess I chose the wrong one.

I have yet to hear back from Apple. I have multiple apps on the store and registered right away but did not receive an email from apple up until now. Is anybody else still waiting for the email?

I wonder how many of those that won the lottery will actually develop for it and not just nerds that want it faster.

Disclaimer: I'm a nerd and developer and I would love it faster. But since I have no inclination to develop for it in the short term, I didn't want to ruin the chances of an actual developer to get one.
From what I have been told, the "lottery" is a weighted score based on a lot of factors such as: length of development account, additional programs membership (Mac, iAD, MFi, etc.), conference participation, apps in store, awards, activity of you developer account (login, downloads, big reports, etc.) and geographic location. I wouldn't be surprised if it was ranked score first and perhaps a random determination as a tie breaker making it a "lottery."

I also missed out :(

I also wonder if it's more than just random selection, but I have a long-standing app store account with several hundred thousand app downloads, so I would have thought I'd be a bit higher than the average applicant. But then I missed out on the WWDC lottery too.

Perhaps what category your apps are in makes a difference - my app is in a relatively niche category, not games or TV/video.

Also, my App store ID is a company account. For most of my other Apple activities, including participation on Apple's forums, I use a personal Apple ID. I wonder if that counts against me. Maybe I should close the company account and transfer the apps to my personal Apple ID next time it comes due?

To be honest, I wish they'd just sold the Apple TV dev kits at full price and allowed anyone with an Apple ID to order. I would have been more than happy to pay for one! I find the simulator a bit awkward as the simulated controller isn't that great. It's hard to get a feel for how the various UI elements are supposed to behave with the real remote.

I hope someone figures out how to enable DTS-HD Master Audio on this thing...

I notice that they've also got rid of the optical-out port too, so it looks like any audio out capabilities are being fed through the HDMI port.

Was lucky with the watch; not lucky with the TV. Too bad. But at least I can refocus on some other tasks now and get an Apple TV once it's public in the shelfs.

I feel like that isn't correct. I have two apps in the store. One which I wrote while starting out college just to test the waters. The other is a social app that I was hoping would take off but only got a handful of downloads (shameless self-promotion, but it's called GroGApp). I also have never been to WWDC, and do not have membership in any additional programs. So aside from it basically being a requirement to have an app in the store, I think it's random (they're sending me one).

Just received my email to receive one.

Strange seeing as the rejections have been flying out left right and centre and most of the acceptance emails went out a few days ago.

That means there's hope for those of you who haven't heard anything yet.
