Just a few general comments. It appears there are people in this thread that are thinking that if they do the pre-work, presumably today, and are the first in that they will get a higher priority Friday. It doesn't work that way. You certainly will skip the credit check step though, but that has nothing to do with how quick you do the pre-check today, tomorrow or even Thursday.

Still nothing. I am guessing Apple will open it up when they open up - 10:00 PST/1:00 EST.

If you need a loan to get a phone, maybe you shouldn't be getting it in the first place. I know I sound like an elitist or something, but still....

Wish I could agree. But last I checked, the interest is negligible and after factoring included Apple Care Plus it’s actually a no-brainer. Almost a wash.

1. Open Apple Store App
2. Click "Shop"
3. Click "iPhone"
4. Scroll down and Click "iPhone Upgrade Program"
5. Scroll down and Click "Check your upgrade eligibility".

Isn't it interest free? It's actually smarter to take the interest free loan as you can theoretically use the difference to invest the money and make a larger return...

From my loan agreement:
ANNUAL PERCENTAGE RATE
The cost of your credit as a yearly rate.
0%

Exactly this. mmm1345 doesn't sound elitist, they just don't seem to get some basics of using financing as a tool to your advantage. Not all debt is bad debt.

Prolly morning/early afternoon if it didn't open at 12am(pst)
Like most things including software updates and so forth bet it will be middle of day, noon CA time perhaps yes it is 8 AM CST still nothing which I expected. About the only thing that is at night or early AM depending on your location is those preorder days ;-)

Same here. None. my guess is 10AM PDT

Yes like when I am awaiting iOS updates and such it is usually that time which puts it noon CDT here in midwest US

That's not what we are talking about here. That functionality has been there since the annual update program started.

No, you sound like someone who got an iPhone 8.

The annoying thing for me is that I made the extra months payment I needed to get me to 12 months (got the 7 Plus a month after launch) and the app is still saying I owe that amount even though the payment is posted on Citizens One and has been put towards my loan... So now I'm eligible to upgrade, but technically not, since Apple says I still owe the payment I paid.

Annoying.

Didn’t want to be so bold without checking. And I was in a rush. But yes. I’m pretty sure we’re not the ones writing checks to Citizens One. All the more reason to love the fruit company.

Why don't you call Apple about it?

I have been checking since just after midnight last night but the pre-pre-order is not enabled yet. I saw the 10am pdt time for the start but where did that come from?

I was thinking that the bank has to up and running for the credit approval but still it’s done electronically so why does the brick and mortar have to be open? Also, I think the bank is on the east coast and I am on the west coast. Will try in a few minutes at 7am pdt.

I have... No one knows how to address this issue, apparently. They just keep repeating the same thing "According to our records, you can upgrade on XX/XX with a payment of $XX", which I've already paid and has been applied to the loan.

As several have said, things like this usually are 10 AM pdt Lots of software updates are that way (obviously server settings), and I suspect this is case with whatever change in the server is made so we can do the preapproval stuff we can do starting today on IUP. I am sure it is just a software "switch" flip that turns some link on for us to do this, but maybe it it is at time folks arrive for regular work hours at Apple in CA? I am obviously guessing but it seems this 10 AM often is what happens (of course that is noon here in midwest DST ;-)

If the 10am PDT time is true, I guess it has to start at some time. I hate waiting though. I have to get on a plane soon, and I will be standing in line waiting to board at 10am PDT (12pm CDT).

So not being an IUP customer, nor is my wife, am I better just doing an upgrade via Apple/ATT at launch time or enroll us both in IUP? Doesn't look like pre-approval is available, so wondering the quicker path?

And rock it does! It’s a beast with the upgrades.

Go Patriots! 28-3.

We blew them away in the SB rematch. Dan Quin looked lost on the sidelines. Julio Jones looked ready and got the only points but he was very disappointed. Oh, one more thing, Matt Ryan is not in TB’s league, not even close so that talk is BS.

They tried 4 down plays. One worked but no points and another one blew up in their faces because TB just marched back down the field to get a TD. I loved it.

Don't think it matters when you do it as long as you do it before the pre order. They're not being reserved for us at this point, it's just getting the credit check and whatnot out of the way.

Well I will just give you my experience. I joined IUP last year with my 7Plus 256. I had been doing AT&T next for several years, but half the time AT&T just did not get the phone to me on launch day -- usually month or more late.

So last fall I had my computer on AT&T and my iPhone on apple store app. After the usual bit of slowdown at 12 PM pdt I got into both and already AT&T was saying month or more really? But apple on the app said I could get with the IUP -- I had both processing ;-). So I joined iUP and probably will not go back to AT&T if I want to do the annual updates and get close to release day.

Yep as long as you do by Thursday the 25th I think you are ok and just able to speed through with approval (carrier and bank and choices for the X you want all done)

It's not very smart to start a process with heavy resource utilization at a single point in time for the whole country when it can be staggered and avoid overwhelming the system. Activation by time zone would have been a better approach.
But then again, I don't know what Apple's plans are, and it seems no one else here does either

I think all the posts saying that the IUP is for people who can’t afford the phones are people with bad credit that can only by outright. IUP is a no brainer. Zero % and only 12 payments (if u upgrade yearly). Why the heck would u do it any other way??
