The furthest screen I can get to is below. It gives me the option to see the iPhone X but not select it. I assume on the 27th the ‘select’ button will appear blue like the iPhone 8 option on the left?

I think all the posts saying that the IUP is for people who can’t afford the phones are people with bad credit that can only by outright. IUP is a no brainer. Zero % and only 12 payments (if u upgrade yearly). Why the heck would u do it any other way??

Seriously. Plus way less hassle of trying to sell off your used phone.

Just a few general comments. It appears there are people in this thread that are thinking that if they do the pre-work, presumably today, and are the first in that they will get a higher priority Friday. It doesn't work that way. You certainly will skip the credit check step though, but that has nothing to do with how quick you do the pre-check today, tomorrow or even Thursday.

Still nothing. I am guessing Apple will open it up when they open up - 10:00 PST/1:00 EST.

But when ordering you are locked into a shipping date while you wait approval so how does this speed up the process. You would still get the phone based on when you order not approval.

I noticed there wasn't anything different from last week, so I asked one of their chat agents; this is her response:

I apologize for any inconvenience but as of this time, there is a problem with the Apple App store, pre-approval for the upgrade program. We are working on this problem and appreciate your patience on the matter.

I have... No one knows how to address this issue, apparently. They just keep repeating the same thing "According to our records, you can upgrade on XX/XX with a payment of $XX", which I've already paid and has been applied to the loan.

I was just told that the service is down by an Apple rep via chat. And that it should appear right away when you open the Apple Store app.

It was a canned reply; she sent it before even saying her name. Sounds like they've been getting the question all morning.

Yep they have a set time to open on the first day and all of us waiting chomping at the bit to do this are all asking questions. Sounds canned to me as well ;-)

I'd think so too, but I don't see an option to try the early credit check.

I actually used the program last year, have the loan with citizens but I'm not technically in the program bc I cancelled the AppleCare part. So I assume I need to re-apply....

Once it's up and running is it better to do it on the iPhone app or the iPad app? Or it doesn't matter? Thanks.

If you need a loan to get a phone, maybe you shouldn't be getting it in the first place. I know I sound like an elitist or something, but still....

I don't *need to*, but it's a 0% interest loan with effectively a guaranteed "buy back" after a year for half the original purchase price of the phone (upgrade after a year / restart the loan).

You're right, but people will defend and try to justify their position "leasing" a phone to the death so it's a moot point to bring it up.

Leasing makes a lot of sense for a quickly depreciating purchase. An iPhone is *not* an investment. Not to mention it's 0% for two years with an option to upgrade after 1 year (effectively a guaranteed buy-back at half the original purchase price).

On an unrelated note- I see iUP can now mail our phones back in. What do you guys think will be the best option, choose pick up in store, or delivery?

I would say delivery. That way you don’t have to worry about waiting in a line to pick up your phone. I used to work for Apple so I know how crazy the stores are during launch season.

I'm already an Upgrade Program member -- used it last September to get my wife's iPhone 7. Is there a way (via app or website) to get pre approved for a SECOND phone on the UP? This one would be an iPhone X for me, not trading her phone in towards it.

The Apple Store app (thus far) doesn't seem to give me an option to NOT trade in the existing phone.

No. if you are buying different phone number for another phone, it counts as a new customer. it only counts as an upgrade when you trade your current phone tied to the loan.

so far, there are no such option not to trade in and upgrade at the same time.

Just say you will trade in. people change minds. My email confirmation from the 8 says that if I do not bring my phone for trade at the time of pickup, payments will continue.

How does the math work if Apple releases a new phone in Sept. 2018? We will have to make two extra payments to get caught up, so is it still worth it financially rather than buying outright and reselling? (I understand that reselling is more inconvenient)

too many unknowns right now. My plan is to do the iup and wait and see what happens next year. You can always pay off the loan and sell it yourself instead of trading it in, if that ends up making more sense next year.

We blew them away in the SB rematch. Dan Quin looked lost on the sidelines. Julio Jones looked ready and got the only points but he was very disappointed. Oh, one more thing, Matt Ryan is not in TB’s league, not even close so that talk is BS.

They tried 4 down plays. One worked but no points and another one blew up in their faces because TB just marched back down the field to get a TD. I loved it.
Atlanta looked lost. Huge Superbowl hangover and they really miss Shanihan. Their play calling was horrible. Good win, boring game.
