Do you see anywhere in that quote that I said Apple introduced innovation with the mini? You did notice on tuesday that a number of other products besides the mini were introduced which DID contain innovations, did you? The list I provided earlier contained a few of these: bonded touchscreen and LCD panel, Fusion drive.

Again, do not try to put words into my mouth. I know what I said before.

Really, what's the title of this thread? Or are you just talking out your ass to mislead people.

Also, what is this cellular model mini will be out in mid november? Who the hell would want to hold that to their head to call someone?

Cellular provides the ability to get data – web browsing, stock prices, sports scores, your personal data from iCloud, for example – when you're outside a Wi-Fi area. Otherwise out of wi-fi = out of touch. It's not meant for placing phone calls.

And I think that parent's would give up and get another tablet. The word iPad is synonymous with tablet to many people, and if a genuine iPad is sold out everywhere they look, if the parent wants a gift under the tree they're forced to buy an "iPad" made by another manufacturer.

I take it you don't have kid and have never gone through one of this "I must have abc for chritmas" drama at home. When kids want something for Christmas or Bday, there is no substitute that can appease them. That is why you have fight in toy store around Christmas for the hottest toys. The stress is incredible and parent will just have to pay up and get those hot toys in black market.

Apple never ran out of anything while Steve was there.

On the other hand, they have changed the size of every product already. Now, where is the innovation again?

I remember it taking me 4 days to finally find an original iPhone back in 2007. Steve was still wandering the earth.

not sure why anybody would over pay on ebay or craiglist. If they are going pay $600 for one of these, wouldnt they just buy a regular ipad?

Fusion on a desktop machine _is_ innovation. It is _not_ a rebranded hybrid drive. It works completely differently. Now the principle "take some small, fast storage and combine with some slow, big storage and make it appear as if it was big and fast storage", that is very old, but what Fusion does was previously only available in data centres at huge cost.

Last year I put a 128gb SSD into my 2011 Mac Mini, in addition to the 500gb HDD that's already in there. I use it as my boot drive and keep everything on there except big files and media files. Does this mean I'm innovative? More innovative than Apple? Does it mean that Apple couldn't have innovated the Fusion drive because for all intents and purposes its basically has already been done?

Steve: And I'm pleased to announce that the iPhone 4 comes in two colors -- black and white. Available on June 25.

9 months later: White? Yeah, any day now...

And this is exactly why the iPad mini is going to sell like hotcakes. It's going to be hard for many parents to say no to their kids when they are saying they want an "iPad" not a tablet.

What's innovative is the software they're using to manage the whole thing, and show the drives as a single volume. Normal users will now be able to get the best out of that kind of hardware.

Me TOO!!!

Was surprised that Ireland was getting it day one, but seems maybe they underestimated the demand elsewhere. Doesn't seem fair - surely they should have allocated a certain number for each country.

Just going to ring to find out.....

Not looking good.. Basically got some spin about they are only rolling it out to a few countries.. blah de blah..

Asked if the pre-orders will in fact be today and they just didn't know, even though they were aware it says 2pm.

Not looking good matey. {step away from the refresh button} :(

is not hard to assume people dont want a nice black mini getting all scratched, thats why.

Maybe it's a generational thing (although I'm 66). But I like seeing my hardware look like it's been used as heavily as I pushed it, taken to as many places as I've taken it, and not been treated like some delicate thing that has to be left at home in a drawer.. A lot of people get special satisfaction from a pair of jeans that shows the rigors they've traveled through or a flannel shirt that's been with them for decades. I don't get this keep-it-pristine approach to our technological products.

Thanks for that. Surprised Apple didn't manage that better. If they say it'll be available somewhere, they should make sure it is, even if it's very limited.

UPDATE!!!

It's starting to appear... But shipping 2 weeks  Oh well better than nothing....

So 32GB Wifi Black iPad Mini with Grey smartcover ordered here.

Sux.... Dam. , i think you may be right on one thing.

People may be stupid for beleiving this is news..

It happens evey event Apple puts out.... It happened with the iPhone 5, and it happened with the iPhone 4s..... Maybe not as much as "sold out" as quick, but the delivery is always the same, increasing to 3 weeks, then maybe 4, but 2 weeks is minimum at least a few months. This is always proven by Apple at any of their lauches.

And quite often, we always see an increase in delivery dates, not decrease, fior obvious reasns.

People easily "loose the plot" quickly in the industry, by claiming "somethngs thats a standard by Apple, is now 'news'"

Ya right....

Nope, I won't. The early reviews said the screen looked fine. I doubt the screen will be horrible looking, plus I never game on my iPad. Only browse and watch Netflix.

Again never said the screen will be horrible looking just saying u down graded and u can tell yourself all u want to make it feel better

Yep, got one. 2 weeks. Not too bad. Cheers!

32 Black Wifi too, but no smart cover. It's a birthday present for my wife, so I'll let her choose the cover.

So is it 2 weeks from now, or 2 weeks from 2nd Nov?

What risk? Things happened the way any company wants them to happen with a new product. SOLD OUT. Production is actually limited to achieve this very result.

Since when is it ever too early for a company to take your money?

It's not just production but also a logistic shipping constraint.

FedEx UPS double down for Apples delivery day. They are not staffed to keep that pace up day after day to just keep the anxious happy.

Then after the first round of shipments you add a week.

And you keep adding weeks until demand is fulfilled.

The simple fact that countries are not being staggered at launch indicates its not a production issue or a classic Sell Out just yet.

I am sure that the website wasn't up exact at 8am uk time but it was about 8:10 when i did my order for black and white 16gb and booth saying two weeks

i know its probs down to getting white but cant believe sold out that quick

going to visit some stores next week on launch day and see if i can just pick them up

Function is not innovation.

The screen are greats, but seriously adding USB3.0 to the mini is not innovation? Fusion is not an Apple innovation. It's rebranded hybrid drive. The only thing fancy is the hedious logo they are using.

Lol fusion isn't a rebranded hybrid drive.

it's easy to sell out when they only make 30,000...

total flop

glad I dumped my AAPL at $700

enjoy your scratched small iPad 2s

mini is what they should call their stock now...

Good question.. Add delivery time if these are coming directly from China (normally a week) we could be talking anywhere up-to 21st November....

We will have to wait till our orders are processed further for more info.

Just checked my info. Looks like my guess was spot on...

Processing Items Ships: 2 weeks Delivers 21 Nov, 2012
