Same kind of thing every generation has said about the next generation’s music.
Yep. Heard it in the 60s and 70s. My parents "You can't even understand what they're singing! That's just noise! This isn't music".

Year after year, decade after decade people have done this. Jazz was the devil's music, along with the Blues. Rock&Roll was just noise and too simplistic. Hard Rock was worse! Black Sabbath? Led Zeppelin? They worship Satin you know...and they suck! Those guitars are just making noise. Punk rock? That's just people up there screaming and cursing, what the hell is that? New Wave? Oh great, those people are just pushing one finger on a keyboard and it plays itself, this all sucks along with MTV and it's destroying music. Rap? Right, yeah, it's spelled "Crap" but the "c" is silent bahahaha, get it? That's not music. And WTF, MTV doesn't play music anymore? Oh these old geezers like the Rolling Stones are still touring? Give it up, grandpa!"

On and on and on and on. This thread and every other thread and YouTube comment section are filled with this. Parents must pass it down to their kids or something.

I'm not disputing any of that, but why are we holding up Billie Eilish as our example of "what's next"?
She's literally the only one who sounds anything like she does.

It's hardly the new trend or the way music all is now..

If anything it's just a unique solo artist sound -- which has been a thing in every era of music.
That doesn't mean it's the new trend and sound and we are all fighting it or in denial, etc..

Spatial Audio was a big surprise to me. I normally watch something on my iPad while I'm washing dishes. I use my AirPod Pro so that I'm not distracting others.

Well, I forgot about Spatial Audio and I couldn't tell if the Audio was coming from my AirPods or my iPad and depending on how I moved around in the Kitchen, the audio kept adjusting itself. My mind was literally playing tricks on me.
Great right? I had that too when watching a movie!
I was thinking the entire room was hearing loud audio on my AirPods Max.
Movie scenes are so much more drawing me in, just awesome.

It's a fear of change and sadly, i's part of the human brain's inevitable deterioration as we age. It's why teenagers are willing to take "dangerous" risks while older people need routines to survive. It's also why people tend to become more conservative in lifestyle and politics as they get older, too.

It takes a LOT of effort to counter-balance it. But I do find it funny when people don't realize they are doing the exact same thing that their parents did at one point (and I'm sure they didn't care for it then).

She is not ā€œwhat’s nextā€, she is ā€œa part of what’s nextā€. A lot of people like her music. And its not that they like it despite how she sounds, they like it because of how she sounds.

The OP was looking to fix something that doesn’t need fixing, thinking that they know better than the artist and her fans. The original quote was, ā€œShe really needs to get over herself and take some voice lessons.ā€ That translates to, ā€œshe needs to sound more like everyone else.ā€ Do you think voice lessons are what is standing in the way of her sounding like everyone else, or is it perhaps that she has chosen to sing the way that she does. I’m guessing it’s the latter.

It’s not the first time we’ve had lyrics that are hard to understand. Hell, before we had the Internet (and Usenet before it) people engaged in long debates over what the lyrics in some songs even were. That’s not new.

I don't know about other headphones, but on my Beats Studio Wireless 3, the Dolby Atmos music sounds absolutely horrible.

Ironically all music videos on Apple Music playing through Apple TV are stereo PCM

Got to love Billie Eilish, the enthusiasm and bright eyed optimism she exudes is infectious.
I know this post is meant to be funny, but on a serious note, I hope you understand that this 19 year old girl is allowed feel negative emotions and look the way she wants, rather than acting and looking a specific way for you or anybody else.

I know the underlying beliefs that result in comments like this, and I think you should sit down and have a serious conversation with yourself about whether or not it’s true that women exist solely to look pretty, smile perennially, and please you and other men.

This seems to be a pretty common theme from you. Can’t find any similar comments you’ve made that are about men. Interesting.

Mmm, no. Every song sounds the same, a la Norah Jones.

A fear of change? The music you refer to from the 60's and 70's remains in solid rotation today. Do you honestly think a Billie Eillish has tremendous staying power in the making?

True. I didn’t wanna be one of those guys that would proclaim ā€œthis isn’t musicā€. But sadly I’m there. I was pretty up to date, not necessarily like most of it, until about 10 years ago. Now? I look at the top 10 charts and can only recognize a couple of the artists.

With that said, not sure why everyone is getting triggered about Billie. I’m not into her music, but there are people who are. And with that I’ll just say ā€œcoolā€.

Great. Another 90 second "Mumble Fest" from Ms. Ellish. She really needs to get over herself and take some voice lessons.
LMAO, I kind of agree with you. She has a few good songs (maybe a couple) but I don't care much for her music at all.
TBH, most of the current artists are pretty weak IMO. No wonder.

Spatial audio works very hard to defeat the idea of the headphones. With headphones you hear the sound always near you, with spatial audio the sound is supposed to come from your desk or a from a little to the right or from some place at home. How is that better than hearing directly and constantly in your ears?. I think is superior the experience of having the concert on your ears than being in a fix position and you having to move to ā€œenjoyā€ that the audio is in ā€œsobre placeā€. How is having to move my head superior audio experience?
That's just not how Apple Music's spatial audio works. There's no repositioning of the audio when moving your head.

I would just like Apple to fix the bug in Apple,Music that means that lossless downloads stop playing after 15 seconds. Very annoying. Exactly 15 seconds.

Apple has teamed up with singer Billie Eilish on a new short film to promote Apple Music's recently launched Spatial Audio feature.

The 90-second video, created by Apple Music in close collaboration with Eilish, mashes up the songs "Getting Older" and "GOLDWING" from the artist's latest album "Happier Than Ever." Eilish is seen singing in front of a vanity mirror, and as the song transitions, her reflections start to multiply in additional mirrors surrounding her, which Apple said is a metaphor meant to represent what it's like to listen to Spatial Audio.

Apple said Spatial Audio takes the listening experience of the new album to new heights, bringing dimensionality to Eilish's vocal performance.

Based on Dolby Atmos, Spatial Audio provides a surround sound experience, making songs sound like they are coming from all around you. Thousands of Apple Music songs have been made available in Spatial Audio since the feature rolled out in June, including Lady Gaga's "Rain on Me" and Kanye West's "Black Skinhead," and Eilish's new "Happier Than Ever" album can also be listened to in the immersive audio format.

Apple seems to LOVE to latch onto young, ā€indieā€ artists, and suck them dry over the course of a year or two. Remember when you couldnā€˜t escape Sia?

I wonder who will be the next face of Apples never-ending ā€œHow do you do, Fellow Kidsā€ marketing strategy?

Also, Christ, Apple. You shouldn’t have to freaking explain metaphors — you sound like first year film students here.
