I'm not disputing any of that, but why are we holding up Billie Eilish as our example of "what's next"?
She's literally the only one who sounds anything like she does.
It's hardly the new trend or the way music all is now..
If anything it's just a unique solo artist sound -- which has been a thing in every era of music.
That doesn't mean it's the new trend and sound and we are all fighting it or in denial, etc..
you sound like contradicting yourself.
Every genre and every trend in music first started by a trailblazer, someone or a group that did NOT follow common actions etc.
it takes a while for a trans to begin. Also it doesn’t have to be a trend.
example Prince.
first artist to have a movie launched as a blockbuster with no previous track record and that launched an album. It’s been 30yrs since Purple Rain was copied and here we are with Billie.
he’s also THE only artist that can write a top 10, or #1 global charting song that is agnostic to gender: Nothing Compares 2 U, sung by Sinaed OConnor written by Prince.
malos the only artist to change his stage name, twice and still remain relevant and successful.
the ONLY artist to go against others in music on public common opinion of medium change (Physical to digital media; Napster MP3 hording) and be RIGHT and garner a standing ovation of his unique stance. Lars of Metallica pretty much frites all other artists hatred against MP3’s yet respected Prince at a major award show on his does he about hoarders vs real fans that will purchase your music. He was right for over a decade until streaming music came a major change.
nobody yet can play as many instruments fully and play with other greats of other genres that cannot compete and respect his talent and enjoyed playing with him.
