Here's the correct breakdown:

MacMall Price Today: $2649
* That INCLUDES the $150 Mail in Rebate: (still $2649)

Retail Cost = $2799
Final cost = $2649
Difference = $150

I guess "*" advertising really DOES fool most people, just like the $2.99 9/10 trick at at the gas pumps.

Did you look at the screenshot I attached:

http://att.macrumors.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=92059&d=1195828363

What I wrote was correct. $150 off now. $150 rebate additional. (Total $300 off)

Are you not located in the U.S.?

did you see the screenshot? Are you not located in the US?

What I wrote is correct

I'm not in the U.S., but I can see what you see on macmall.....

You are correct, sir.

I'll ask my question again since I did not get an answer.

Can you use your Employee Discount on the iPhone? I seem to recall on launch day you couldn't.

Hi
Lack thereof for sure
On top of that, after 30+ minutes of attempts I finally got stuff to go in my Shopping Cart but now they need me to add an address -- probably because I haven't ordered from them in awhile -- and I get the error...

We apologize, there was a problem updating your account.

Sorry, I didn't realize their normal price was only $4-5 less than retail. I don't get that breakdown screen on their site. In fact, it says point blank when I select the MBP I'm intersted in:

---
MacMall Part #: 7254324
Platform: Macintosh
Instant Discount(s): $0.00
Your Price: $1,929.00
Mail-In Rebate(s): $150.00
Net Price: $1,779.00
Availability: Usually Ships Same Day

---

To me this says mail-in discount only as the instant discount clearly says $0.00. The visual problem is further compounded by the fact their main page shows $1929 with a slash through it, which normally tells me this is the sale price, but in fact, the slashed-through price is simply the $1929 price with the rebate applied to it. In other words, it looks like $1929 is their normal every day price when you're telling me that's their sale price. In other words, their site is not very clear in several parts what their normal versus sale pricing is.

As others have reported, MacMall's shopping cart system seems to have a problem. But I did find that Amazon has the same MBP config I was looking at for $1749.99 after rebate ($30 cheaper) with free shipping. Their site IS working. That does not include the free Parallels 3.0 software, printer and carrying case, though.

Is anyone else having sales on MBPs today?

Frankly, for $17xx range for a 2.2GHz/2GB/120GB 15" MBP, I see no reason to get a Macbook for only a few hundred less when it has such a poor GPU by comparison and no FW800. I guess I'm getting an MBP.

Looks like they just fixed it -- it is all snappy again.

Browse through http://www.expercom.com/ deals and maybe you'll find something you like. I've made a few iPod and a couple of computer purchases using them with no complaints yet.

Yes sales are nice, but why have them all on Buy Nothing Day? Thats just silly and it totally misses the point of BND.

maybe *that* is the reason there is no real deals... :D

For that price I'll finally upgrade from my Office v. X. Only $25 for Office 2004 student and teacher edition on Amazon after rebate, then get the upgrade to 2008 Special Media Edition

It's funny because Apple Store make it looks like Office is a better deal than iWork (promo speaking)...:rolleyes:

The Photoshop Elements discount sucks in Canada:
Reg price: $129.95 Sale price:$99.95
(don't forget to tack on our lovely 14% sales tax)

versus the U.S. Store discount:
Reg price: $89.95 Sale price: $58.00

The discount in the Canadian Store doesn't even bring the price down to the U.S. Store's regular price.

Boo-urns.

/I said boo-urns....

Bye bye, .Mac. I was waiting to renew my .Mac if it was $68 today, but now I won't.

So like there's this online web retailer (*cough* Amazon) that has like free shipping and doesn't require (at least me) to pay sales tax. See here for .Mac pricing. It's $69.99, thats $1.99 higher than your $68 price point, so I don't know if that's a deal breaker for you or not? Interesting that you would drop a "service" you currently have because it didn't go on sale (it didn't increase in price, like most services do). Utilize Safari and you'll be surprised at the things and "deals" you'll find out in cyberspace. :)

MacMall seems to have the prices to beat, I tried to order the base Macbook and couldn't. I guess they're just getting clobbered.

:(

It's gotten worse here, not better. I get this on the main page now even when I try to bring up MacMall:

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005'

[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][TCP/IP Sockets]SQL Server does not exist or access denied.

/LM/W3SVC/1/ROOT/global.asa, line 789

Amazon has the same prices as MacMall, so...

Even though I hate mail in rebates, 974 bucks, no sales tax and free shipping...

Sold.

Whee! Anyone in the market for a 1Ghz 17" widescreen iMac?

:D

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you were being sarcastic!

For anyone who doesn't know, Buy Nothing Day was established in 1992 by anti-consumerism activists in Vancouver, but in 1997 it was moved to coincide with Black Friday in the US (on purpose) so you can all examine your consumption habits, and also ensuring that few US citizens will ever actually participate in it.

So, of course, Black Friday has nothing to do with missing or getting the point of BND, Black Friday ignores BND like it's a yappy dog.

If it gives you any hope, after 2 hours and 45 minutes I finally got my iPod touch 16GB w/ free case ( after MIRs ) ordered. I wish I were exaggerating on the time frame.

P.S. Since when did MacMall start applying sales tax to all?

offtopic

Walmart has deal saturday, 8:00 am for PS3 with 10 free blu-ray disks:

http://holiday.ri-walmart.com/?section=secret

Not a bad deal, but there are only a guaranteed 2 machines per store with this deal, and I suspect not all stores will honor it the same way.

I have a store just around the corner, so I'll give it a shot.

Apple deals don't look inviting to me.
